Description

RPG Maker VX is the latest release in the RPG Maker series. Like RPG Maker XP, it was officially translated into English, and like its predecessors, the engine is a tile-based point and click engine tailored towards creating traditional RPGs.

RPG Maker VX has a rich interface similar to RPG Maker XP with a few more built-in features as well as an upgraded Ruby Game Scripting System (RGSS2). This adds great flexibility and possibility for enhancement, as evidenced by the plethora of custom scripts already available for the engine.

RPG Maker VX runs in its own 544x416 resolution. Unlike earlier RPG Makers, the game engine is limited to a single group of tilesets (arranged in layers A through E). The help file contains clear instructions on how to import these and other resources.

The default battle system is a frontview system reminiscent of RPG Maker 2000 with static front-facing monsters and invisible player characters, however with RGSS2 different battle systems are possible to implement. The engine supports the MIDI, MP3, OGG and WAV file format for music and sound effects.

RPG Maker VX games can be packaged so that they can be played on any Windows machine without requiring the engine or RTP to be installed. However, the standard runtime package (RTP) for RPG Maker VX is publicly available for download on the Enterbrain website, allowing distributed games using default resources to have small file sizes.

The program's EULA allows games to be sold commercially.

If you have need for a custom script but are unable to do it yourself, please make a request! Perhaps one of the scripters here will be able to help you out.

Before Making A Request:
1. Search for a script that might suit your needs here
2. Search for a script that might suit your needs elsewhere (try Google)
3. Ensure that this isn't something you can reasonably accomplish without a script (perhaps the same can be accomplished with events?)
4. Be clear in what you want and what you need.

Request Template:
Copy this code and paste it in a new post and fill out the blanks. Be as descriptive and detailed as possible. If appropriate, make a a mockup of what you want in an image, or list other games (commercial or otherwise) that implement the feature you want.
