Some of you might not know what a Release Something! Day (RS!D) is. Basically, it's a day where you release something - anything! - in order to get feedback from the community.

Release Something! Days used to be a regularly occurring events back when the community had a problem with releasing stuff. It was created as a way to encourage sharing, collaboration, feedback, and content in the community. The aim is to truly try to capture the spirit of releasing something.

It is not about prepping a major release, or making something in a fury to have something new to show for the event. It is about showing your works-in-progress, getting feedback, and checking out what other people are working on. Like a snapshot of RMN's development community.


WHATTA RELEASING?
Music, tiles, sprites, graphics of any type, gameplay (videos of gameplay tests are good), tech demos, demos - even completed games (but don't strive for a finished product; that's not the point of RS!D).


GOTTA HAVE RULES
- To 'Release Something' just upload it straight to this event page. Sign in/up, then hit 'Submit' in the top right corner of the page and browse until you find the file you want to 'Release'. Voila~
- You can release more than one thing, but try to make sure it's something you've been working on at least recently (say, in the last month or so). Keep it relevant!
- Release all through the weekend.
- DO NOT steal the things you see here, if someone wants feedback on a resource or script. I doubt we have to say it, but it's worth saying just in case someone uses the 'but you never said...' shit to justify being a fuckwit.
- To give feedback, use @username and then hide tags (depending on length and amount of feedbacks in post. So, for example:

GOTTA GET GOODIES
There will be a badge worth 10 MS for releasing something. One per person.
Best feedback givers will also get a badge worth 20 MS. Because the feedback is what counts most!


Just to re-iterate: You are releasing something :ANYTHING: that you have done on your project over the last month or two. It can be a screenshot, a face image, planned dialogue, a script snippit, a resource, a demo (if you have one on hand) or a video of a system or anything like that. It does not have to be something that you whip up over this weekend - in fact, it's HIGHLY ENCOURAGED that you NOT do that! Just dump something in! Or a few somethings!

Not sure if we should start giving feedback already, but I'm already impressed with what I see! Sgt, those are so adorable. I like how different the face emotions are instead of just happy/sad/scared. Kylaila, nice concepts :) This actually gives me an idea on what I should post X3 Zds, I like the battle layout A LOT. That map seems nice too, but it definetly needs floor tiles.
Gonna upload a concept myself tomorrow.
I was thinking along the lines of uploading a gamepage and then submitting things such as screenshots / whatever over to the event page here in order to receive credit for it. Besides, I just tried fiddling around with the submission options and you can’t link a gamepage to it but you can upload screenshots / whatever via the locker functionality system, so there’s that, I guess.

Ehh...the more I think about it the more I’ll probably just upload some screenshots of what I’ve been working on in the past month or so and save the gamepage for a later time. (But it is quite enticing, though!)
@Liberty The event page is good. Sanic gives all developers hope that they can do anything then are crushed by the quality and speed of Sanic.

Really though, I know what it's like to feel like it's next week but turns out it's this week haha. Time sucks sometimes.

God they're so cute! Even with the grey n light colors. Only the villain-looking guy is a lil muddled due to it being all dark, so less contrast.

Actually it adds clothing (or whatever other sprites) automatically based on current equipment, guided by user-defined data from a spreadsheet. I suppose I could expand it to allow for more event-based image modification as well, though...could even modify the monster images that way...ah, the balance between sharing the stuff I make for use in my project with the community and becoming a slave to creating features I won't use myself. X) Thanks for the feedback, anyhow.

Kool you find them creepy, bare a few of the last that's the idea for it all. Tho only a few of them were used, would you mind telling me which ones in particular were creepy? :) Thinking of what kind of critters to add since I'm still brainstorming.

That would be a tie between "Sketch_Collection_2" and "SKETCHES_DREAMSCAPE_PHANTASM_COLLECTION". Both of them look creepy in their own ways. :P
Just figured I'd throw up some pieces from my next project. I wish I could submit a gamepage or something, but I'm just not there yet.

Put up some concept art of a supporting character, a WIP screenshot, and an in-editor view of one of the maps I recently put together.

I submitted some battle animations for Weird and Unfortunate Things Are Happening as well as some monsters. The first two monsters were from sketches that Sooz drew and I was like "CAN I PLEASE TAKE THESE SKETCHES AND MAKE THEM MONSTERS IN MY GAME, PLEEEEASE?" XD

@unity, Weird battlers. They are drawn nicely though.

Submitted two demos: One for the Northbridge Save Manager and an updated demo of Immortal Sins with a new engine stack (that's how I refer a collection of scripts used by a game.)
zDS: I like the palette in the first image, but it looks to be mostly ripped and recoloured graphics? If they aren't ripped then maybe try to make them look a little more unique or something, perhaps?

The battle shot is okay, but it's a little too flat- the background that's there doesn't have much in the way of colour, perspective, or any points of interest, and the monsters aren't placed in a way that gives any structure to the entire look of it, yeah?

I guess what I'm trying to say is that the graphics that are there are too flat, and when combined with the deadspace at the top and bottom, they really aren't doing much for my eyes.

SgtMettool: Not a lot to say about the sprites. I really like the cutesy look of the dude in the blue armour. Overall they're pretty nice looking.

The faces look a little "raggedy" though- the outlines make the robes and such look a little too jagged and wavy for robes. Unless that's the style you're really trying to hit on. My personal preference says to try and round them out a little more.

I just released my latest demo, so there wasn't much I was working on for this event, so I took a piece of PMed critique and coded a new function to shops; highlighting a piece of equipment will now display all individual parameter changes instead of the uninformative and limiting default setting.

Actually, I might just tweak it and release the script as well. But I also want to submit it to the resource section so people in the future can track it down easier.

Nah. It's too small for anyone to really care about. Besides, Yanfly's script does this and a lot more.


@Ocean: Nice stuff you got there! Though I'm curious about the white aura around the tall sprite. Is that gonna remain in the game?
@SgtMettool: I think the red and gray ghost sprites look a bit too similar. Perhaps shave off a pixel or two from the top of the eyes to make it look less alert and more bored/annoyed/apathetic?
@Pizza: Those trees look great! Like... really great. Almost too great. At least the lighter green trees do, as they feel slightly more detailed than everything else. But I really had to reach for that, so take it with a tablespoon of salt.
