INTERRACIAL RELATIONS

You know, I just thought of something: how are we defining race? Like m4uesviecr said, most people think of white/black, but there's more to it than that.
Really, my point is, how different do two people have to be to be considered a different "race". In reality, humans are all the same species, but again, I don't think that's what we're talking about here. Honestly, I don't think racism is going to go away... I talked to someone recently about all this, and he said that we are "programmed" to find differences between ourselves and others. It's a justification to steal and kill and propagate your our genetic line. Sick but true, I suppose.
Either way, I say let people do what they please.
Weird story... be forewarned...
On a somewhat unrelated topic, I find racism to be funny (in a meta/mocking sort of way). I have a buddy that calls me the "n word" (can't say it even though I put no stock in the word) on occasion. The funny part is, I'm whiter than paper. Seriously, I have the deepest dungeon tan you will ever know. I could blind someone... you get the point. Really, he means nothing by it. He's just mocking the absurdity of the word. Anyway, I hope that the stupids die off in the next hundred years or so and all of this is irrelevant.
Yeah, i agree. i think it's just kind of human nature, like we just don't like things we're not naturally atuned to. But i wonder... maybe as technology evolves and we become closer networked together, that fear of the unknown will dissipate to an extent?
Also... about the racism thing... umm, I'm kinda hoping your friend is black or something.
... I'm not gonna lie, I seriously don't find racism funny. Some racist jokes yes, but I think it's more appropriate that if you seriously find racism funny, please at least keep it to yourself. I'm half black by the way. (O snap ; ] )

I find racism funny.
It's hard to describe in words, but it's not because of some predisposition against people of other ethnicities or anything. It's just a passive enjoyment of a primitive mindset that's blown totally out of proportion by people who absolutely must have butthurt over political incorrectness.
Besides. Stereotypes are fun. They're a lot like snowball fights, wife(husband) jokes, and razzing between friends. Just mind the line and whose listening, and it's all in good fun.

I find racism funny when it is shared.
As in, if you can tell an asian joke to all of your mexican friends, it shouldn't be a problem to say it to your asian friends (give it you have any). I have a friend who says racist black jokes ALL THE TIME, but he says them around me. Not to mention he is f'ing hilarious.
Given the fact that I'm not easily angered, and I laugh at stereotypes geared towards my own race as well as others, I respect the fact that he can say them to me as openly as any of his friends of the same race. Are there times when some of my friends go too far... yeah, and I call them out on it, just like they call me out when I overstep the same boundaries. But the object isn't to insult one another. It's to do exactly as Dyhalto said,"{Get) passive enjoyment out of a primitive mindset that's blown totally out of proportion." It of course gets to a point where it's not funny and actually builds tension, and possibly anger, towards the minority in the room, but that's not what I aim for. I'm looking for a good laugh or two.
...or five.
What pisses me off more than anything is when people do the opposite. That is what I equate to racism.
It makes my blood boil when my boyfriend tells me how people in his community just openly degrade black people using "racial jokes". He stands up for me, but it pains us to see just how ignorant some people can be towards another race, when they know NOTHING about the individuals within the racial group.
=RAGE QUIT=
I'm not racist. I think you all suck equally. Not me, though. I'm awesome.
Seriously though, there is very little rationality behind racism. There's no point in rationalizing the irrational.

@Dyhalto & m4ues:
Yes, i already know you intend to be non-malevolent. ;P But that's only what the speaker thinks, not what the receivers think. It's really hard to tell what another person is feeling when a person says a historically hurtful remark-- the speaker will probably find it funny if they've never been a victim of the history behind it.
Here's a similar example-- i just don't think saying slang for Jews during the Holocaust would be very appropriate between Germans for fun.
Anyway, this is just my opinion, I think it's hard to understand if you're not a minority or you've never really been around minorities. But when when people start Kony campaigns of random black people, or when people have been historically known to face cruelty surrounding the word, it might be better and safer to make no comment.
--> Aw hell no! Wishes i wasn't so outspoken <--
