AND YOU ARE...? (THE INTRODUCTION THREAD)

Posts

Welcome to the forum Veridianne. :)
Thank you. :) This site seems a little inactive. Is it new?
Hello, I ended up here trying to look for an old RM site I used to go to but I guess the guy shut it down. Took a look at a few topics, even though they were old, and might like it here. Though, I don't post much, sorry. Nice to meet you.

Yes, the forum is relatively young! It was started in earnest sometime in June of 2007.

So, we encourage you all to post lots and often. Welcome!

Welcome to the forum.

You might think that you won't post lot's but you probably will. That's just the kind of forum this is. ;)
WHAT'S CRACKIN' PLAYAZ?

My name's Andy, I'm new n' whatever. Most likely nobody here knows me, but I have frequented several other sites and forums in the past. Mostly I've gone under the name Lepp but more recently I've switched over to Rev-P. You can call me any of those or a four letter word of your choice and I'll probably answer you.

I look forward to ruining your fun. :D
You are the type of person we love to have on forums. :)

Welcome to the forum.
Heya, just felt like sticking around since this seemed like a small packed homey community. Posting a project here, sharing some resources, and whatnot. :) See ya guys around.

Reives (and any other RMXP.org member who has wandered here), we appreciate you sticking around a bit! We could definitely use a little bit more expertise and participation from the RMXP front. We plan on making RMVX a big deal here. What is your opinion of the program?
Thanks, and glad we are welcomed. :)

Personally, VX seems to be an overall enhanced program from what I've seen, in terms of utility and easier functions. There are of course some debatable points here and there (e.g. the lack of the third layer), but it seems to naturally have more potential as a program. The main problem however, would probably be the initial lack of customized resources due to the fact that the program has just launched. I've seen quite a few people who are being turned off by its RTP alone - and understandably so, since while it is possible to make custom graphics, it is still quite a chore for the average Joe as a complete task.

But meh, it's too late for suckers like me to change to it now anyhow, heheh.
Yeah, but in a few months after people start to use the program, more resources will come out. If i haden't started my game on 2003 i probably would have used VX.

You know, when RMXP came out a lot of people hated the RTP as well (and many still do). It's just natural. The resources will come with time, and, I imagine, you could even import a lot of old resources, at the very least with converters.
Of course. I think I miscommunicated there; I am not saying that the RTP is bad, but that just as you said, there will always be a selection of people who do not like a certain style.

And for the starting period of time, there is a lack of resources relative to the other makers (which will surely fill up in time, of course), the choice of starting graphics is limited for many - and naturally some will not like certain styles or such limitation to start with. Nothing is wrong with the program itself in that aspect. Conversion surely do work, yet is still somewhat of a hassle, as the two mapping systems seem to be quite different (I am not really too clear on that though, to be honest) - and when they do all get finished, it would more or less mark the premature resource session over in that aspect.

Edit: I see all the XP RTP char-sets have been converted already, hahah.

I actually despise the XP charsets. I like the chipsets, but the charsets just grate on me. "Chinless Wonders" I call 'em.

I'm getting old.
I'm not too fond of them myself, to be honest. My favourite is the white ties template as used in Memento Vivere and the old Shades; they just seem to have a balanced tone suitable for all types of scenarios to me (I'd imagine that it'd be relatively hard to create something overly serious with the VX RTP style, in comparison. Not that that it necessarily makes it bad, of course.).

Actually this why 80% of the community continues to swear by RPG Maker 2003.

It is also because htye are retarded.

Best forest ever.

EDIT:
So what does this mean, exactly, Ciel? Did you quit GW or something? I notice that you are a staffer there.

Hello everyone =D

Just a 17 year old male living in London, nothing special about me, just living life and trying not to get stabbed, mugged, shanked or whatever its called nowadays. I'm down-teh-earth, a little crazy so never take me too seriously xD. I love using RPGmaker 2003/ 2000 (Even though I've never finished a game) i'm a noob by no means, but I don't know the real complicated stuff. I just like to tell stories. I like to help as many people out as I can, I think "likes to help people out" should be my middle name, but then i'd just look stupid. I'll be as active as I can be, this site looks very nice.

Oh yeah for all you lazy guys, call me LWG.
