In the profile page, what are the achievements for and how do you earn them?
(i didnt know if i should post this here or in the Help section, so sorry in advance)

There was going to be an achievement system that you could put into your VXP games, but WIP gave up and passed to the torch to GRS, I think. That obviously never worked out.
More correctly: WIP wanted me to make the VXP script for the game end while WIP would wrap up the back end. I don't remember what happened to kill it but I still have some half finished script for it..... somewhere....
I think it would really encourage players if they could get achievement points for their profile. Game designers could set up to x number of achievements for their game and then put the client library in their game. The problem with this is that then end users could just cheat and reap all the points they didn't actually earn.
If the stuff was sufficiently obfuscated though, most people wouldn't actually cheat. I don't remember if I asked WIP or whatever for the protocol documentation so I could implement a version in C/C++ because I still thought this would be great.

I think game achievements would be an even better shot in the arm for RMN activity then the last stimulus was to the American economy!

Game Achievements are a terrible idea. As for RMN activity achievements, wouldn't that mean more spam?

Your comments are incredibly constructive.
Honestly though, what is wrong with game achievements? Achievements manage to suck in a lot of players on consoles, why wouldn't it work with our games?
I support this idea, although I am no longer a sucker for achievements. I believe it would bring more traffic to the site, which is always good.
having some sort of VXP scripts for Achievements would be really rewarding for people, especially if a script also managed to upload achievement data to RMN, and if they unlocked/rewarded users further. obviously, these achievements would have to be on uploads that are encrypted. i support the idea a lot, and hope maybe one day these can exist.
post=DNZGamesYou are about a year late; this was already attempted.

How about giving people badges for things like winning a contest, contributing to some event, voted most helpful person, etc.

This is what I originally thought it was going to be. Instead of something dumb like "Used FIRE 50 times!" which you would see in achievements everywhere.
post=ankyloHey what happened to the hurricane image for the Breezy achievement?post=FistThis is actually part of what Achievements were / are. If you check out Anaryu's achievements you can see: http://rpgmaker.net/users/Anaryu/achievements/
