Here's the big problem with a user-based system. The best has to be good enough to try and make people forget about the worst. The worst is how something is judged.
You want a free and open submission system? That's fine. Prepare to be flooded with pure filth coming out of numerous teenage nerd hands.
WHOA WAIT LOOK AT ALL THESE SHITTY GAMES. We need to improve our standards! Okay, so what do you do with all that filth that is still there?
"Well we shouldn't purge it but make better stuff"
However you are still judged on that filth. It is still there. People dwell on it.
You cannot have an open system that is all quality. That isn't how open works. You want quality, you have to go with "elitism". There has to be a gatekeeper who judges what is and isn't quality and then only allows quality through.
What makes something quality differs greatly between people. People who agree with the gatekeeper stick around and those that don't, tend to leave.
tl;dr, you guys need to figure out if you want to have elitism + quality or openness + less quality. There is no inbetween. This site's history is evidence of it.

Sure, such a game looks and probably is terrible. But as WIP said, it costs more than it's worth to flush that sort of stuff out.
In real life, you walk into Game and there's good games on the shelf but there are also a load of crap games as well. You just don't buy the crap ones.
I think most serious users who don't just come here for "lol free game lol" are able to discern between the good and the bad rather easily, via how well the gamepages are presented.

IN PENITTRABLE?
Haha!
I especially love how the currency of this world is "bucks" and the default condition is "fine."
What's the alternative? Form 'The Inquisition' to hunt down and judge bad games? That would take a great deal of time and effort from people who really have better things to do.
lets put an end to rips and other premade graphics
nobody played, had fun with, or was inspired by legion saga balmung rose chronicles naufragar legend of the philosophers stone phantom legacy ara fell rise of the third power kindred saga so it is okay if we frown upon or outright ban the methods used for their creation for all future games nothing will be lost and there is so much to gain (earthbound/mspaint graphics + respect from tigsource(!!!))
we must put an end to assets that can be utilized in hobby game making to communicate a narrative to an audience in an effective and visually pleasing manner
that isn't what wip said

lol. (the real reason was that everyone here was being whiny bitches so one day ankylo accepted absolutely everything that was in the queue, 7 Dragons included. its funny because you guys are whining and bitching about it still)
uhh...lol? excellent solution i gues????s knee jerk hostile/emotional reaction to legitimate concerns. that really made things better! best way to run a site is to actively antagonize your userbase - gaming world 2008

Fun fact: I can petition for projects to be removed, but apparently you guys are all talk and no action because I haven't received a single PM about this.
i think that is because there is so much awful content it seems impossible to any one user to weed it all out. it would be like america trying to ban guns now when the country is already filled to the brim with 'glocks'. probably the staff need to go through the database and purge substandard games, like ocremix did a couple years back when they combed through their thousands upon thousands of songs and removed ones that did not suit their updated standards.
the point is that a few of you guys are taking the existence of a handful of less than stellar games a little too seriously.

Yes, truly the best way to make them realize that is to throw even more trash at them.
It sure worked!

Saying it was a great idea to accept bad games when people are bitching about bad games being accepted.
1 - Said games were accepted once. It's not like it happens all the time and you have to remember that staff are people too, who have frustrations and need to vent at times.
2 - The staff have been talking about how to better the site in many ways including submissions for a while now. They're just as concerned about this as you or I.
3 - If you see any games that you think don't fit the standards of this site let one of the staff know (Craze has opted to do this). Even if you report just one or two, it makes a difference.
4 - Quit bitching and do something. If you have a problem with a game report it, comment on the makers' page or screen shots, let them know what you think could be done better, direct them to tutorials. Most people won't get better if they don't know that what they're doing is bad. Write a review/do an LT/send a PM.
(On another note, personally I enjoyed LL. I thought it was fun as well as funny. I mean, it had it's problems, yes, but every game does - even the ones we hail as the best. I've yet to see a perfect game.)
