Story:
Many years ago a great entity of sin emerged from the darkest depths of the world and tried to cover eveyone and everything in perpetual darkness. Darkness covered the land, causing the seas to rage, the forests to wither and the earth to decay. However, as from where the darkness was born there also came light: Born from the planet it's self came four great crystals of light. This light shone through the darkness and caused the entity of sin to return to the nothingness whence it came. The crystals bore themselves back into the depths of the earth and then began to sleep, protecting all from the darkness of the world. After the darkness had receeded, the light slowly began to return to the world. The people regained hope and begin to rebuild what they had lost.

Now, many years after this incident, the story of the great darkness and the light in which broke it's grasp upon the world has been handed down to the newer generation. As the crystal slowly began to re-awaken, a child was born within the village of Yur. This child bore the sign of a saint and was a token of light for the villagers. Now, in order to test his heart, courage and strength he has been guided into the Crystal Caverns in order to receive the crystal's blessing.

Gameplay:
The gameplay is to be sort of reminicent to old, NES-type RPGs (Dragon Quest/Warrior 2,3 and 4 and Final Fantasy). It has a standard turn-based battle system in which both you and your party exchange blows with the enemy. It uses RPG maker 2000's default battle system and it is front-view. There is indeed no fancy battle animations, and there are only small battle backgrounds in which I think seem to fit more than a black screen.

Maps:
The mapping is supposed to be reminicent to that of NES-type RPG's such as Final fantasy 1-3 and Dragon Quest/Warrior. Nothing is too detailed, nor is it too simplistic. If your looking for the best mapping around, don't come here.

Thank you.
Whoa, congratulations on finishing this. I'm going to give this a play right now, about how long would you say the game is?
Yes, well done on finishing this game. I had seen lots of demos for this game so it's good to finally see this finished. I will download it now and give you some feedback later on.

Thanks. Ha ha, I am also glad that I finished it as well. My first one, too! Might also be my last...but you never know. I'm just glad that I managed to get ONE game completed in RPG maker. However, ME finishing it and someone ELSE finish it are ENTIRELY different things. No one may ever finish this...but I'm glad I got it out.

Also...the game is fairly long. Not TOO long...but long. How long, exactly? About 4-5 hours. Maybe more, maybe less. I suppose it depends on what you do.

Hey man, not sure if it is my computer or the game itself but is it normal for the music in the game to glitch every once and a while. What i mean by this is stopping for about 25 seconds and then coming back on but from the beginning of the song.

If you know anything about this could you please help me. Good game so far by the way. Would be better if the music was working properly. :)
Whaaaaa...? I never experience this problem. I can't really help you, as I've never seen this happen before. I think someone played it and the music would not work AT ALL, but not this glitchy thing...

I dunno. I hope it soon gets better.

Maybe someone else can help?

I was just about to ask. When you posted a full game, I was wondering how long it was; I wouldn't want to play another 40-hour RPGMaker game after Dondoran and 4-5 hours actually sounds like just enough time to have lots of fun.

I'll probably download this later in the week when I have more free time!

It's all better now. I re downloaded the game again and everything works fine. I think the download stuffed up the first time and caused some files to go missing, because my computer seems to be fine.

Congrats on finishing! (I didn't test the game at all this weekend, btw - I figured you were shooting for the Release Something! Day for the full game...)

I'll download this version and give it a whirl sometime soon.

Yeah, it's only about 4 hours long. It COULD be more (around 5), but I don't really know. I never jotted down how much playtime I put into it.

Huzzah! That is a good thing, then! I hope everything stays working out for you in the future. =)

Thanks! I'm glad that I was able to finish at least one RPG Maker game in my time using it.

For the release day I might release something instead. What is it? You'll have to wait and see. =P

Maybe I can get a review done for the in the future. Never got one yet...but being able to see one decently long review posted up for it would be nice. =)

Yes, it's good to have the music back to normal. Once i finish the game i will write up a review for you. Don't worry, so far the game is good so you should be getting a good review from me. :D
Well then...that's nice to know! I hope you enjoy your time playing the game, though, and hope that you really do end up finishing it.

Congrats on finishing the game!

I remember playing one of the earlier demos back in the Township Demo Day's and now that its finished I'll have to give it another spin (and see how long my sanity lasts, wooo!)
Hurrah! This is a great time in life! (Ha ha, not really. It IS very good, though!)

I'm very sorry for this bump, but it's for a...well, relatively good cause. It's probably not the biggest thing in the world, but I would like to announce that Dragon Fantasy has received over 1000 downloads! Man...that is FAR and away beyond anything I could have imagined. Now...I don't really know exactly how many of these downloaded files were actually PLAYED, but I'm just glad that there has been so many downloads!

A very big thanks to those who have downloaded an played the game, and an even greater thanks to those who have finished it! Thanks everyone.

Once again, I am very sorry for this bump. I don't think it'll happen again unless it reaches 2000 'er something. ;B

Anyway, thank you people!
For now, its one of the best rpgmaker game i have played. There are others that have best history or graphics, but in fun or gamplay terms they are usually worse than a "8bit" RPG like this, and this say a lot of rpgmaker scene... at least spanish one(im discovering the english).

Well, nice job! Its interesting to find some games really based on challengue and gameplay in these days of game-movies. And also the effort to cross 8 bits clasics like DQ and FF to create a good retro and nostalgic feeling...

Indeed I just got around to playing this, I wasn't expecting much but holy shit I've actually gone farther into it than most rm2k games.
Then I'll thank both of you for giving my game a go and for taking the time to townload it and trying it out. I'm glad that you both decided to come on and give me some comments to look at, too! That's always fun. :B

If you like Dragon Fantasy then be on the watch for Dragon Fantasy II! I'm trying to see if I can get it done over the summer. I highly doubt it, but eh... >_>

Thanks again!
