Jericho, it is fine to disagree with staff decisions, but you will stop attacking site members and the staff personally - you have seriously been pushing it lately in multiple threads, and I have been very patient with you because I think you are a pretty cool guy when you are not doing the afore-mentioned things. Your reasoning is rational enough regardless of my opinion on the featured game but I did not see anything helpful or informative out of you until the last two posts in this thread where you have actually explained your feelings on the matter, and this is including all the discussion in IRC.

So let's cool it off a tad, yes.

The "game isn't standalone" argument is silly. If you feel like downloading the RTP or SMBX alongside each game you wanna play then that's your prerogative. Everyone else is smart enough to only download the RTP/SMBX once.

What about RTP games? I can't play any of the games on the site that require the RTP.

To be honest this attitude annoys me greatly. Yeah it's easy enough to download the RTP but why should it be a requirement to play a game? It just shows the insular qualities of the RPGmaking community where everyone is expected to have the RTP and anyone new that comes in and wants to try the games will be met with an "RTP not found" message. Also in 90% of games that require the RTP there's no indication when installing or in any readme or manual file that what you need is the RTP. And in those that mention that "yeah you need the RTP to play this game" there's often no direct link to said RTP or any word on what this RTP actually is.

Yes everyone here knows what the RTP is. Yes everyone here has the RTP (or knows how to move a bunch of files from another project to make a game work without it when it otherwise would require it). But if you want a bigger reach you really, really shouldn't make it more difficult for someone to play a game they downloaded.

I mean attention spans on the internet aren't that great and if I download a game that doesn't work on the first attempt the chances of me going on to another game that actually worked are infinitely greater than going online to see why the game didn't run in the first place.

So what I mean about this rant is that it is really bad form to feature a game that won't run with what you get from the official download on this page. (remember too that I don't mind having stripped down alternative downloads for those who want to download less and already have the prerequisite files)

Shinan: That is a valid point insofar as proper dissemination of games like these and their accessibility to casual visitors is concerned. Moon Base probably should have included any required software or had clear directions in that regard.

I don't believe it should be precluded from featured game eligibility, however. Same goes with 2k/2k3 games, obviously, as they still make the majority of our submitted content.

Because appreciating games that are not yours is a difficult task...
