Banning people for violating the TOS or otherwise being a detriment to the site is all well and good, but please stop deleting and removing and censoring posts made by SHMUP. I get that posting is a privilege and not a right, but when you censor their argument, you lend credence to their argument.

If you leave a blank spot where a post was, people will assume that some kind of brilliant, compelling argument was made, one so intractable that you had no rebuttal but to censor it. When in reality, they probably posted something retarded like 'lol fags'. As I recall, RMN has always had a policy of never deleting posts. This would be a great time to stick to such a policy.

I have absolutely no love for shmup, but if you think that you are the good guys in this, then act like it. It can only help the site if you know you did the right thing, and censorship is pretty much always bad.

Note, if EVERY removed post actually like, violates the TOS by posting child porn or whatever, that would be a different matter.

lol.

I think in this case it is needed, we don't need to see the retarded posts made by butthurt members.
I agree with you about censoring and taking the higher ground, but it gets to a point where it just makes RMN look bad.

There is no point where defending freedom of speech makes you look bad, even if you disagree with with what is being said, brosef.

I totally get it, standing up for what you believe in and all that, it's really great.
But when a user posts 100 pictures of a guy, it just gets ridiculous.
Or at the same time, out right attacking admin staff, that kind of stuff is just bad for the community as a whole.

If the owner of the site wants to do something, the owner of the site can do that.
I'd rather see blank, censored posts, then some "RMN IS SHUT DOWN DUE TO FAGGOTRY"

I guess what I should have said is it makes the community look bad to those on the outside looking in.
For new members and casual lurkers who are tempted to join, or just anyone from the other RM communities.
I know every site/forum in the existence of the web has its problems and shit, but coming here and seeing anti-administration and all these people arguing is just a very bad image.

100 pictures of a guy? Can somebody send me like a PM with a snapshot of the trollposts? That might change my mind.

The problem with the blank posts is they could be anything. They could be a reasonable argument or they could be 100 jpegs of a dick.
Some of my psot were censored, and they didnt contain any kind of insult, Porn or something troll.
(8:38:48 PM) YDS: Why is public dessent being kept out of the public eye? That's what the feedback forum is for, I thought.
(8:42:50 PM) YDS: I wouldn't risk being banned from a community I have been in for so long and contributed much to myself if it wasn't for something I honestly believe in.
(8:46:45 PM) Holbert: Very well. Continue your game.
(8:47:03 PM) YDS: I was just asking an honest question!

It was there, the OP had 100 pictures of himself/some guy, but they got deleted for obvious reasons.
But notice they left the more sentimental stuff as it wasn't really trolling, etc.

The way I feel is if the owner/admin feels the posts is negative/harmful to the community, then why not allow them to delete it?
I'm sure if any one of those blank posts posed an actual argument or mature conversation it wouldn't have been censored.

Like my first post for example???? I commented about how Magi Ban was unfair, then the comment go deleted. Then i Asked why my comment was deleted, it didnt contain any insult or something like that. It got deleted and i received a warning .-.

See that's the problem IF, it WAS there, it no longer isn't, so now there is no longer any EVIDENCE as to whether it was an obnoxious troll or just dissent.

And that is why censorship works against you.

If he posts 100 pictures of Abe Vigoda or whatever he wants to and that stays on there at least once, at least neutral observers can look at it and be like "what a dick!"
100 pictures of abe vigoda! why didn't i think of that?

If it was something like people posting bad images or whatever, then yeah I can see the point in removing it. Not otherwise. But of course you don't want to have anything bad said about you on the FORUMS.

@Max Mcgee
Very true!
Taken out of context the neutral observer viewing it now in its censored state, would more than likely say "I don't get it"
I guess with the trollism still there they can at least say the "what a dick!"

Maybe these posts should just be deleted altogether, so at least there isn't guessing and theorizing.
But they might also be keeping them there/censoring to prove a point too, that shit like this doesn't fly well. (along with some bans, of course)

I agree that censoring can be bad and be abused, but also necessary to maintain order sometimes.

tbh, more than likely because it isn't "unfair" that these users got banned, if you abuse power or talk shit openly on a forum to the forum administrator then you should expect consequences.

People just need to drop trying to save these guys when they were clearly in the wrong.

But at least one exemplary shitpost could have been made visible so you could see the KIND of thing that was being done.

Also I don't know why Sluv's wall of text post was vanished. It was not shitposting. It was ban-evading and rebanning him was correct, but the post he snuck in could have been left up.

i posted on What are you thinking topic, what is in on Welp Welp forums. i stated an opinion and i was censored. No shitty post or something like that.

None of the deleted posts had offensive imagery. They were largely "fuck you, ban me" or "unban Magi" posts. The deleted posts were almost exclusively contained in the "What are you thinking about right now?" thread. I deleted them because I did not want to lock an active, 3 year old thread that is still pretty popular or allow it to be derailed.

It's been a bad idea if only because people act as if I am hiding something when what happened was readily apparent. Everyone knows what happened. Now there is an organized effort to spam the forums (including use proxies/TOR) with more of the same type of posts, but I digress. Several of these users were already banned and continue to use other means to attack the site. I won't delete any more posts but honestly if people don't like rpgmaker.net and just want to be destructive they need to go elsewhere.
I mean, if someone start to spam with another account or do shitty moves like, their psot deserve to be deleted. Is a different history than commenting, that kind of people are harmful

Tell that to Strangeluv and Abdel McCrack., since they both have been banned at least twice now.
