Yes, so, this game is cancelled. At least the RM2k3 version is, and has been for a long time. We'd like to ask anyone currently interested or previously interested in the game to read the only blog post for information about the state of this project.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This page might become a space for announcing NL related news to people on RMN, however, we aren't sure if we want to use it for that at the moment. For now and for the next few years it will remain active. Further news will come at some stage.

What It Became, and What It Will Become.

WARNING: RAMBLING AHEAD

Alright, so first things first, I need to explain the basic situation. I left this community under the name Lennon quite some time ago, and pretty much quit game making entirely. I decided that I just flat out wasn't skilled enough to do what I wanted in the field. Worst of all, I didn't have the tools or know how to make Neo Lescia they way I envisioned it- a PS1 style FF-eqsue RPG, in full 3D glory. It was depressing for me to see such a life long dream dashed.

But then I met matrixmancs. We were friends for a while before he mentioned to me and another pal that he was thinking of becoming an independent game designer. When I heard that I jumped on the opportunity, and told him all about the things that I had done and dreamt of doing on RMN. Everything spiraled out of control, and we experienced a flood of ideas that we wanted to develop. Over the years we put together a solid catalog of 10 games that we wanted to make, and knew would be worth it- Neo Lescia among them.

When I came back to this community to announce our first project, My Favourite Durian, I had forgotten my old account. I thought it was for the best though, as I knew nobody would believe that we could accomplish MFD or really anything if Lennon, the quitter, was involved. It wasn't too long however before Little Wing Guy came to me in a message and asked me if I was Lennon. This reminded me that I had put up a profile for NL here, and I started to feel bad for leaving everyone who was waiting for this game behind. I made it a priority to figure out the info for my old account, and just now today I did.

So I come here today with news about what became of Neo Lescia. I'm happy to say that it's undergone a total overhaul and begun a new cycle of development, with the end goal I always imagined in mind.

Neo Lescia is far from dead, and the version you see on this page now is pretty much nothing like it at all. Now that I know I can accomplish it the way I want to it has become something much, MUCH more than anything possible on RPG Maker. I can't give away a large amount of details of course, as they're a company secret right now, but I can tell you a few things.

We're looking at releasing Neo Lescia episodically. It's planned to be 15 episodes long, with 5 episodes to a story arc. If I had to estimate (With no real knowledge of how to do so) I'd say the episodes will clock in at around 6-7 hours each. In terms of a release date, I'd give a generous estimate of 2023-2025 for the first episode (A hell of a long ways away, I know) with a steady development taking place after that- likely to be paused in between arcs to release other games. Neo Lescia is a life long ambition that'll take a hell of a long time to finish, but it's the reason I live and move forward. Simply put, Neo Lescia is my baby, my magnum opus. I know from the core of my being that I would never let it die again without going with it.

I want to thank you all from the deepest of my heart for showing support for this project in its early years, and I hope you'll do the same as it slowly becomes a reality. It makes me happy to know that so many people cared about the dream of a nobody from the middle of nowhere.

He's pretty much alive, I talk to him and he gave me some drawing tips :D

@Lennon, I just realized, you used to use custom graphics for this game right? O_O

Uhm... I'll touch on that in the coming days actually... So... "Stay tuned" I guess.

God that sounds bad
i would like to play this soooooooooooo bad

Looks great, Lennon! Can't wait to be able to play this...
I have to say I really like the style of mapping. For some reason, it reminds of the very first Wild Arms for the Playstation. Hopefully some of us late comers will be able to get a new demo or a complete release before long, so I wish you luck.
I hope you finish this someday.
Same here. I'm back at RPG Maker now, after getting a laptop with Windows. Currently I'm downloading a soundtrack for the game, then I need to rearrange the world map based on a new drawing I did up. Then I can get back on track with everything.

You can expect some new updates soon, hopefully.
This is what I like to hear.
Is the book everyone is after the....BIBLE!?!
Maybe. Maybe it is Lord Of The Rings. Maybe it is Action Comics No. 1? : U
Alright, although I like custom stuff, you've gotta stop going back and starting over again with this game. You will never get anywhere if you keep saying, "Hm...I don't like the way this looks anymore. Back to square one again!" I mean seriously, I can already count like three times you've done that with this one game. Pick something and stick with it, damn it!
I don't like to focus on the past, but luckily I know what I'm doing now. I have everything ready the way I want it, and it's pretty much perfect.
I'm not saying you should focus on the past, but at least remember why you liked something to begin with instead of going with the mentality that you need to start over again every time you get a new idea.

Number 11.
The problem back then was that I was new to the engine when I first started making it, and the idea for NL was something that I never fully remembered. I started over so much because I really want the absolute best for this project. Every time I made it before now, things just didn't seem right, they didn't seem like the game I wanted to make when I was a kid.

Having said that, I think I finally found the perfect plot, characters, graphics, everything pretty much. It stays close to what I had wanted to make so long ago, but it's a more mature, serious, and professional version of that. It really is the best I'll ever get it, and I'm working my ass off making it right now.

I know it's hard to trust the words of someone who has started over so much, but really, I know what my priorities are now and I truly believe that given enough time, I can finish this and be happy about it.

There have been so many different incarnations of this game it's quite hilarious. There are still two other Neo Lescia games on alternate accounts. What I will say is: you clearly love whatever world or story you've drawn up very much, and I think that will show in the game.

Also, your game page is simply fantastic.
I know, it's silly that those other gamepages still exist. I might ask to have them closed or something. I think the love and care that I have for this story will definitely show in the finished product.

Thanks, but you should really be thanking tardis. He pretty much did everything with the gamepage.

yeah, i'm real pleased with how the gamepage turned out, even considering large parts of behind-the-scenes are cannibalized from some of GRS's code.
