There's an aspect in some games (including this one) that I'm not sure I dislike, but it bothers me somehow... deeply.
It makes me few lonely.
This game is so lonesome.

Not sure what you mean...
Do you mean games like Myst (because you wonder around alone for long periods of time/the interface is loosely point-and-click based);
Or do you mean games like Resident Evil (because you wonder around along for long periods of time/because those games have obstacles that should be easily navigatable and yet your character can't get by without doing something obscure - this puzzle is a bit of a nod to that sort of thing!);
Or do you mean games like something else entirely.
This game is so lonesome.
This game is meant to evoke a feeling on loneliness so... I want to believe this is a good thing!
:)
A game like Might and Magic VI comes to mind.
I suppose it's not a bad thing, because there are many games like this that I like.

Your sprites have gotten more and more impressive as you've worked on this. When you first started it was kind of fugly, but screens like this are quite nice. In a disheveled, punk kind of way.
Thanks! I think it helps that the interiors have a lot more blank space than the exteriors do so I can focus on objects rather than having to focus on things that have "textures" (like walls).

the mandate of heaven?
fucking great game. not sure where the lonely comes from though- the only scenario i can think of is apocalypse-bombing all the towns after you get the best spells in the game. because seriously, otherwise EVERYTHING in that game is crawling with shit that is either uninterested in talking to you or WANTS TO KILL YOU.
