Revision Begins

... at least in terms of planning, that is.

That's right, I'm putting some serious thought into a revision for this game; one that will address all critique from the original and will expand on the world wherever possible. This will include meaningful optional content to go along with the careful touches made towards the outer game.

So far, definition for each of the player characters has been completed and a few choice scene layouts are being conceived. Although the heroes you've come to know will take a turn that contains more flaws than positives (and I do mean flaws), I hope that the player will ultimately appreciate them instead of hate them from the get-go, especially Alex...

Each character will follow certain in-game ideologies that holds the utmost importance throughout the entirety of the series according to their origin and upbringing. These may be challenged and converted, along with influencing their actions as much as their behavior, during the course of their journeys.

For a short rundown of each character, look below:
1. Alex is an unrepentant sexist.
2. Carol is an emotionally-driven adopted elf.
3. Deiji is a bible-thumper. Even more so than the original.

Also, on a side note, I will also be going through and creating new items, weapons, armor, monsters and skills to ensure that the game deviates as much from the stock RTP as possible, along with changing the hero graphics and allowing the player the use of the Enter Name command to set your name to whatever you want instead of being stuck with the default Alex, Carol and Deiji.

Other common complaints such as the puzzles will be looked into and adjusted when the time comes, but I'd like to focus more on storyline and location/landmark expansions at the beginning to get a good feel for what the game truly lacked and needed to add more of a sense of replayability. But I swear, the statue activation puzzle in Chaos' Domain will be removed and the switch-throwing time trial will be adjusted to allow more time but also not become too easy.

Oh! And I've also been planning out the revised Mansion of Shadows for Tales from Zilmurik IV; filled to the brim with meaningful fear-related shenanigans. But shhh... :3

That already has me hooked. I can only imagine what scenes will play out when you have a bible-thumper tagging along after a sexist pig, and a poor confused elf caught up in between. I sort of felt all of these characters just dropped out of the sky for no reason in the first game, and that Alex's character was just along for the ride, even though he was the main hero. So the more personality and conflicts you can create between all characters, the better.

I figured Alex and Deiji would be at each others throats regarding religion, while Alex and Carol will get in an argument on what concerns them most, resulting in Alex yelling out one of those 'things you should never say' regarding Carol's past, which in turn will see Deiji punching Alex for such an outrageous insult towards his stepsister.

Of course, as the game progresses (and since I don't want for them to be stuck in their ways and unlikeable nearing the end) they'll lighten up on each other (if even slightly) as bonds develop. Then again, I want the heroes of this tale and the next to have strong relationship contrasts to put an emphasis on the ties of the Salundras that will follow after these people fade into history.
