The hall used to exit the soldiers base out into a field area - custom tiles used here for the ground/grass.

The soldiers need to take care of their banners and flooring better! :D

Not bad. I like how it makes the area look like it's fallen into disrepair a little.
The point of this part of the base is to not lure people into it, but instead, lead them to believe that its been abandoned (which will be pointed out MUCH, much later in the game). I don't know... I think it needs a little more work, but I'm leaving it as is; I guess I'm not going to be super-thrilled with every area in my game, so that's OK.

Thank you for the lovely comments, btw. :3 <3

Yeah, I find it hard to have really fond feelings for every area in my game as well. I think it's only natural.

What does the rest of the area look like?
I think the transition from tiles to grass could use some work, but it does look interesting, which is always good.
Full View of the small hall has been posted, UPRC - just because you asked. ;)

The soldiers don't use this hall but to escape or leave suddenly if they have to; since the town their posted at doesn't really know that their even there, they can't just simply leave through the natural means - such as walk out the front door of the Mayor's office, where the entrance to the base is hidden.
The color/texture of the walls and the floor tiles don't quite match up (the floor tiles have a sharper color). The straight, narrow path put me off a little until I realized that this was supposed to be a hidden path or something. Shortest path to Point A to Point B is a straight line, after all. XD
This fort seems to be an interesting place. XD

If you want it to seem more interesting, add a side room maybe? It doesn't have to be anything more than a small supplies room, which could even be permanently locked to the player, but visible from the camera's perspective. It seems realistic for a secret military base exit to have emergency weapon caches at the exits. If this is a part of it that civilians aren't expected to ever reach, you could also make the path two tiles wide and put weapon racks and shelves along the wall. (But if this is a part of it that is supposed to seem innocuous to civilians, putting it in a locked room makes a lot more sense.)

The color scheme I've been fighting with... I realize its probably not the best choice to use, but you also need to remember, this is a hidden base under ground in some Mayor's basement that they had to add onto themselves. There will be plenty of explanation in the base if you speak to the correct person in there (all honesty, I haven't finished with her yet, but she's in there).

If you (or anyone) can think of a better color scheme, please! feel free to let me know and I will play with it.

That is an awesome idea... I had never thought about that. No civilian's are supposed to be able to get into this base, even though it's exit leads out into a open field that civilians can access easily, the monsters near the base prevent anyone from going near there.

So, it would make since to have a weapons cache or storage room in that area... Thanks, LockeZ!
The floor squares that are only grass look kind of odd because of the straight line. The squares that have a mixture of brick and grass look more natural. This map would also look nice with some light effect if it's dark but has light at the end of the tunnel.
