IMPORTANT NOTE: This game uses heavily a customized RGSS system and is still in development, so any current release may contain game-crashing bugs.

Features

100% Custom Interface: Players command the party using a targetting dial that identifies important features of a room and the ways to interact with them.

Randomly-generated Game World - The layout of areas and the locations of key items are determined randomly at the beginning of each new game.

Customizable Characters: Spend experience points to improve your character using an intuitive, user-directed training interface.

Original Graphics: Original characters, creatures, items and splash art.

A Chilling Sci-fi Horror Setting - A setting and storyline influenced by sources as diverse as System Shock 2, Freelancer, Dead Space, John Carpenter's The Thing, and Dante's Inferno.

Story

According to one theory, Earth's moon was formed by collision with another planetoid early in our solar system's history. This theoretical planetoid is known as Theia, the mother of Selene (the moon) in early Hellene mythology.

The theory states that Theia would have been completely consumed in the collision, its mass integrated with Earth's.

Why, then, in the outer reaches of the Oort cloud, where astronomers expect to find only comets and isolated bodies of ice, has a planet been found whose composition exactly compliments planet Theia of the Giant Impact theory? Almost a light-year away from the Sun, it hangs on by a mere slip of a gravitational tether, and would certainly have been long lost to the system were its orbit not almost immeasurably slow.

Wherever it came from, it was the last beacon of hope for White Horse Enterprises, a sluggish corporation whose dewy-eyed business ethics made it uncompetitive in the corrupt, overpopulated world of 2072. They established a mining facility on Planet Theia as a showcase for their progressive, philanthropic business practices. In the words of White Horse's CEO: "This venture will go forward, and it will establish a precedent that only an act of God can supersede."

The venture seemed doomed for bankruptcy until a survey drone uncovered what appeared to be an alien artifact, deep under the planet's surface. Desperately needing to capitalize on the discovery, the admins have planned an investor's gala in the P. Lowell Executive Chalet, a small luxury resort with a stunning view of the mining installation, where the artifact will be unveiled to the public.

... And now, for some reason, you've just woken up on the floor of your sleep quarters. You have no recollection of the last week, and your co-workers have turned into monsters. Your only guidance is a droning automated announcement system and the clues your colleagues left behind before losing their minds.

Welcome to Planet Theia. It's always dark out.

Why am I still here instead of getting ready for work

It is hard to justify drawn-out, multi-step objectives to accomplish some technical task for the story when in other places you can just roll Operate 3 and do anything. I hate sci-fi.

Does anyone know any good stock RPG puzzles along the lines of "guess-the-right-combination-of-switches"? Ones that are maybe less done-to-death than "each switch adds a particular number and you have to add it up to the correct sum."

Oh that's good to know re: flak shells.

@Gibmaker: Speaking of aptitude and weapon upgrade bugs.. I complained about some of those too (along with a bunch of other stuff)... Did you ever get around to reviewing my huge lists of junk? :x
BUG: End of round death triggers not changed for barricades. Or at least not for the barricade at the start of chapter three. I put lethal damage on it, and then it waited patiently until the end of the round to disassemble.
BUG: Found a schematic that was computers mental 3, or mental 5. Read it. A dialog box popped up that said 'investigate', and that was it.

edit: there are lots of these, and at no point does the schematic ever become interpreted. Also, they come in stacks of like six, and picking up and reading one causes the stack to vanish.

@NooBlack Yes I saw your junk. That's what she said. I guess it's just still not perfect. 8|

I have fixed the barricade thing though and it will be fixed @ the next release.

Yes. Schematics are ludicrously broken.
BUG: Defense Rigs still use old end of round death triggers.

Thank you.
I just uploaded a new vershun and you will find this bug fixed as well as schematics working properly hopefully.
Okay, if I'm switching to a new version mid-playthrough, which files do I need to move?

Jyust your save file. :)
Grenade launcher is a trap.

Script 'Z - Zap_Data (Weapons2)' line 931: NoMethodError occurred

undefined method '' for nil:NilClass

This happened on pickup.

Also, parasitic synthesis doesn't give the player any signs that it's doing anything. Just a quick 'hooray, you did it', or a 'nope, doesn't work on turrets', or even a 'it sorta worked, but you get the feeling there's more here' would be a very welcome change in what is currently a kind of frustrating talent.

Edit: Herp derp. This bug corresponds to v1104. Will retest on current.

2nd edit: Nope. Both these issues are definitely still extant in v1105

I have a grenade launcher that says you can pick it up somehow.

Maybe something's changed since I picked it up or it's a combination of factors.
You've been able to pick up the grenade launcher without a game crash in v1105?

Well, here's some other factors. Dunno if these would in any way influence things.

-Used parasitic synthesis a few battles ago.

-Grenade launcher is being picked up into last inventory slot on main character.

Couldn't really tell you which version it was when I picked it up, but I've had it for a while now. It's unlikely to be v1105, it may be 4 or 3 or even earlier for all I know :<

Damn.
It is because the random "upgrade" requirements for the Launcher are built if you port in a game from v1.0, but not if you start a new game in v1.1.

Download the latest version to fix D:

oh yeah and in a future version there will be "active status" indicators that will make it more obvious that Parasitic Synthesis is doing something.
I'm finding Part 2 to be incredibly unstable. The Cheryl Ming fight crashed. The fight against a turret crashed. I was able to get through on the next playthrough, but had it crash in the very next fight I got into. I also ran into a script crash just exiting one of the rooms.

I was planning on writing a review (my notes for which, aside from some skill and combat frustration were almost entirely positive up to this point) but as it sits now, it seems impossible for me to progress any further in the game.

Extremely frustrating.
Okay. I'm definitely stuck. Someone who's cleared chapter four, what do I do after meeting with columbine and fighting the mimic? I went to cryo and unlocked it, and I know from my logs that somewhere there's a note about how to unfreeze the person in the tube, but I don't have that password, and I don't know where to find it. I've been everywhere in the areas I can access that aren't cut off by spiderwebs, vacuum, or the inaccessible dormitory bulkhead.

I'm sorry to hear it. :( Can you send me your save file so I can fiddle?

You must learn the Parasitic Synthesis skill and use it on the man in cryo.

Same error and same solution here.

Fonts=>Adventure Subtitles=>Right click and install

Weird, you mean you independently found the font "Adventure Subtitles" and used it in your game?

There are so many fonts on the internet that's just bizarre. (I actually had that font on my computer already, but I'll try installing it from the game folder.)
File sent.

Besides moving forward with the story, the only other major difference between when your game was working perfectly and now is that I have been dropping a lot of items around to make room in my inventory.

Something tells me you're going to have a lot of people get stuck here. I thought the answer might be anomaly detection, since I keep getting alerts about that. I don't know if it's going to occur to people that they need an optional skill to progress without some kind of a pointer, but then again I tend to err too much on the side of hand-holding.

And Max, it's there in the set discrepancy folder. I didn't have to go hunting for it.
