IMPORTANT NOTE: This game uses heavily a customized RGSS system and is still in development, so any current release may contain game-crashing bugs.

Features

100% Custom Interface: Players command the party using a targetting dial that identifies important features of a room and the ways to interact with them.

Randomly-generated Game World - The layout of areas and the locations of key items are determined randomly at the beginning of each new game.

Customizable Characters: Spend experience points to improve your character using an intuitive, user-directed training interface.

Original Graphics: Original characters, creatures, items and splash art.

A Chilling Sci-fi Horror Setting - A setting and storyline influenced by sources as diverse as System Shock 2, Freelancer, Dead Space, John Carpenter's The Thing, and Dante's Inferno.

Story

According to one theory, Earth's moon was formed by collision with another planetoid early in our solar system's history. This theoretical planetoid is known as Theia, the mother of Selene (the moon) in early Hellene mythology.

The theory states that Theia would have been completely consumed in the collision, its mass integrated with Earth's.

Why, then, in the outer reaches of the Oort cloud, where astronomers expect to find only comets and isolated bodies of ice, has a planet been found whose composition exactly compliments planet Theia of the Giant Impact theory? Almost a light-year away from the Sun, it hangs on by a mere slip of a gravitational tether, and would certainly have been long lost to the system were its orbit not almost immeasurably slow.

Wherever it came from, it was the last beacon of hope for White Horse Enterprises, a sluggish corporation whose dewy-eyed business ethics made it uncompetitive in the corrupt, overpopulated world of 2072. They established a mining facility on Planet Theia as a showcase for their progressive, philanthropic business practices. In the words of White Horse's CEO: "This venture will go forward, and it will establish a precedent that only an act of God can supersede."

The venture seemed doomed for bankruptcy until a survey drone uncovered what appeared to be an alien artifact, deep under the planet's surface. Desperately needing to capitalize on the discovery, the admins have planned an investor's gala in the P. Lowell Executive Chalet, a small luxury resort with a stunning view of the mining installation, where the artifact will be unveiled to the public.

... And now, for some reason, you've just woken up on the floor of your sleep quarters. You have no recollection of the last week, and your co-workers have turned into monsters. Your only guidance is a droning automated announcement system and the clues your colleagues left behind before losing their minds.

Welcome to Planet Theia. It's always dark out.

Why am I still here instead of getting ready for work

It is hard to justify drawn-out, multi-step objectives to accomplish some technical task for the story when in other places you can just roll Operate 3 and do anything. I hate sci-fi.

Does anyone know any good stock RPG puzzles along the lines of "guess-the-right-combination-of-switches"? Ones that are maybe less done-to-death than "each switch adds a particular number and you have to add it up to the correct sum."

Well, er, ah, I have to implement some of the final events in the chapter and also make a few more maps. The mouse control is still quite unoptimized but fixing it will be a long task requiring feedback and it's been almost a year since the last chapter anyway so
Thank you for the interest. :)
I just got back online and got to playing this again. RL got in the way of my hobbies...
I didn't expect to find myself listed as a tester, that's for sure!

Anyway, this isn't a 'when' question but do you have any rough estimate how far along you are to the next release?
Close, far, still a bit, or a percent guesstimate... those types of vauge answers are fine.
I'm looking forward to mouse control... and finding out if I can get past that bug I mentioned earlier, it's still there.

I JUST REALLY REALLY WANTED YOU TO SEE THE TESTERS.

That's really weird. \:[ The testers picture is always disposed when the title screen closes. Was this from a new game start?
Somethings wrong, I cant turn off the testers picture on left screen, and cant see my menu becouse its below them!!

Aaahhh! Thank you for reporting this. It's fixed but unfortunately the current version is half-disassembled for a major overhaul. I guess just don't use the light blade for now. :(
I am enjoying this game so far (am in chapter 5), but I encountered a bug.

I made the light blade weapon, but when I select it in my inventory I get the following error message, then the game crashes:

Script 'Z - Zap_Data (Weapons 3)' line 130: NoMethodError occured.
undefined method `' for nil:NilClass

Definitely one of the best games I have seen on this site, and I'm looking forward to the finished product.

What I never replied to this? Oh. I will look into this error. Thank you for the report.

Game, why you break so bad.

Yeah the exp distribution is really simplistic, it just divides it all up between all your characters. :\ It seems like it would be overkill to try and make it more complicated than that, especially considering your party will never get very large. Like, should it only distribute to characters who are present when an enemy dies? Well what about characters who participated in the battle and then left the room. Or maybe each enemy keeps track of which characters attacked it and gives exp to them? Well what about characters who were present and participated by performing healing/support actions. TOO MANY CONTINGENCIES.
Good to know the Hiatus wasn't very long! (Yeah, I'm late to the party...)

Anyway, I have another error to report if you don't mind, Mr. Gibmaker.
Unable to find file Graphics/Characters/Items4Scan.png.
Of course, there was no such critter to be found in the Graphics/Characters folder...

This happened the first time I encountered what I guess to be a enemy with the Items4 (4,1) graphic (no, not the u-magnet, the other 4,1).
While XP farming (Chapter 3) with my Immortal Psionicist MC, that is.
...
Y' know, not complaining (because I'm abusing it), but in a way it's kind of strange that you can have one guy go around killing them creatures while the others sit back halfway across the map and reap the EXP gains...

I have a ScreenCapture of the error if you want it.
Really cool style, I like it..

This game is a thing of great and terrible beauty. I would pay money for it.

What can I do to help this thing to continue to be made?
