This project was built using the Ruby-Gnome GUI framework and compiled into a self-executable using Ocra.

========
This demo exists as an experiment in creating certain types of gameplay for a future version of Set Discrepancy, and also to test some data structures and interfaces.
Despite being just a test/demo/experiment, I had intended this demo to be a decent, mildly-entertaining minigame with a beginning, middle and end. However, I ultimately ran up against some serious problems and limitations. Given that this project has exhausted its usefulness as an experiment, I didn't want to put into the additional time it would have taken to make it 100% presentable.
The most serious problem is the fact that this demo was developed in an Ubuntu environment, and after porting it to Windows (I suspect most people who try this will be using Windows), many of the GUI widgets suddenly have different default behaviours.
For one thing, extra padding and borders have been stuck on where I don't want them, destroying a lot of layouts. (Especially the PDA interface.)
Most horribly, though: in the "computer screen" views (which show a fake Windows-like Operating System), I had made extensive use of a certain widget that covered part of the screen with a neutral-coloured box, to represent "windows" opening on the computer. For some reason, this widget does not generate its background under Windows, and hence the computer screen views are ugly clusterfucks, with text drawn directly on top of the desktop image or whatever element was underneath.
Due to the fact that most people who look at this are likely to be doing it on Windows, I fear that the cosmetic issues will deter most people from exploring and playing around long enough to figure out all the puzzles. Hence, I've provided a full walkthrough since I'd still like at least a little bit of feedback.
ENJOY IF POSSIBLE.
