It’s not a 2, not even a 1.5, just a 1. I would review this game in a typical fashion by organizing my thoughts under categories such as story, graphics, game-play etc. But doing that will not do this justice. I don’t know why this even has over a 3.5 rating score or even reviews giving it 3-4 stars. People would say it’s a matter of opinion, but it’s not. Anyone with some sanity can realize how terrible this game is. The only answer I can come up with this high score is that RMN’s standards are low. Unfortunately for this game, mine are not.

Let us go back in time for a moment. Demondestiny (the author) released a demo of this game a long time ago. The demo was horrible. The introduction was lackluster, the dialogue was bad, the mapping was horrid, the characters- well, and you get the drift. He then announced that he would make the full version. After demondestiny had released the full version, I was curious on how he would improve this ugly beast. I mean, he has to notice something bad about his demo. Anything thrown at this could be considered an improvement. So after clicking the exe for the game itself, I braced myself for the unexpected.
Nothing changed. The title screen is still the same MS paint created scrap. Hm, maybe he didn’t care for the title screen. After all, it doesn’t really matter, right? I start the game. I see the hero charset pop up before the introduction even starts.

I almost fainted.

The screen opens up. You’re given a panorama of clouds with cheesy lightning animations going on and off. You’re also given a really poorly done prologue with some spelling errors. That’s it, that’s the introduction. Normally I don’t mind these kinds of introductions where it’s just some text and a fancy background. But there’s something really wrong with it. First of all, why can’t there be something actually interesting in the background? Why have clouds panning in with lightning? It’s irrelevant to whatever that’s being narrated. Why not have some illustrations? (They don’t have to be original, just SOMETHING related to the text at hand). Don’t even get me started on the plot that’s being explained. To make it short, some evil being named Vekasoul tries to destroy the world and-

No I can’t go on. It’s the same shit recited from so many clichéd RPG games. Not that cliché is a bad thing, but honestly, this isn’t even a cliché, it’s a default template. Many people say it’s not the plot that counts, it’s the execution. But this is the kind of plot that has been done to death to the point where not even a god could save it. Please for the love of whatever that is human. Stop making these plots where there’s some dudes who seal some being away only to have the hero defeat it or whatever. It just doesn’t work anymore.

After the introduction, you see the main character dueling with his grandfather. You’re given some bad dialogue and the first game-play sequence commences. It is a pure joke. You can practically stand there, and the enemy before you will be wandering around as if he has the random movement command on. Spam the attack (which has the stupidest animation I have ever witnessed) and your ever so competent enemy will eventually run right into it. This is exactly what happens to every other enemy in the game. Why bother implementing an ABS inside rm2k3 if you have no clue on how to even put in some AI let alone make it actually good?

Oh god the maps, every map in this game is so badly done. I know some people aren’t good at mapping, but it doesn’t take much effort to at least climb to the plateau of being an average mapper. I can’t even explain why these are so bad. Every beginner’s map mistake is out in the daylight.

I really wish I could go on about how bad the story is, and how the buggy CMS basically prevents you from playing the game (which is a good thing). But it’s really not worth it. I actually laughed so hard when the main character killed his grandfather and said “THE, END, HAS, COME.” What the fuck. I seriously think this was made for an elaborate prank.

So as I type to near the end of this review, I’m wondering how demondestiny will respond. I doubt he will at all. Because pretty much any negative mention of this game, he ignores. Why? I don’t know, but never think for a second that this game deserves anything above the score of 1.

This review is...pretty close to my opinion of this game.

Nice to see someone with a fair opinion on this game!

I agree completely with this review. I'd just like to say it's not RMN's standards, it's some kind of wierd fluke. I have no idea why or how this is rated so high.
Thanks for an honest review i guess. I hope i can improve on these things especially mapping in Demon Destiny 2.

@Max- Maybe people besides you actually liked the game.
Truth, in its greatest form at work here.
To be honest I have the same viewpoint as this person :'(
Sorry demondestiny
Reminds me of my attempts at RPGmaking! :D I'm sure DD will get better at his games.

Damn this review was harsh.....but thats good because it will make DemonDestiny work harder to create something worthwhile.
