Sounds a bit like Sailor Moon, at least at the onset.

As simple as the story sounds I'd actually give this game a play because of it.

• Hero with amnesia who probably possesses magical powers that could destroy the world if used for evil - check.
• Shady character who will most likely end up being connected to the balance of the world or deities that formed it - check.
• Nameless love interest who is discovered conveniently knocked unconscious by unknown means - check.
• Undoubtedly a classic game in the works, despite having hit every cliche on the way down the tree - no question.

Something that I missed asking before... Why was she "forced" to bring him back to her home? Does he have strange markings on his head that indicate a bind to destiny, or did her mother/father/guardian tell her to bring him there?

she was forced at gunpoint, duh.
Wait, how's the cat strange? Just because it can talk doesn't make it strange. Y'know, unless you're a TALKING CAT RACIST! Oh, I suppose all cats should just go "meow", eat lasagna in comic strips, and poop in boxes of sand, shouldn't they?

Damn talking cat racists...being racist against talking cats...

It's seems to be like Poyuca with talking cats.

I'll download this...
Oh dear, 136 downloads already... This community has a fair share of suicide driven people.
EDIT: Damn, the number of download's raising. Seriously everyone, this game is terrible. Don't fool yourself into thinking it has a nice story or something, because it doesn't.

Mary, dear... a game with one star is just as likely to get downloads as a game with 4.5 or 5 stars simply because people want to see what all the fuss is about.

If it's a train wreck, people want to witness it first hand... if it's a masterpiece, the same rule applies.
Yeah, the sad thing is, the game was fairly coherent and I didn't see too many issues in regards to bugs/errors/etc. And the story, although cliched, wasn't terrible.

The problem was the gameplay. It was extremely boring. You fight the same monsters over and over who seldom ever pose a threat. You run fetch quest errands that don't really make much sense. Mapping is very bland. Several areas looked like the mapping from previous screens were reused. Case in point, the first cave was very similar to the second cave, to the point that the character even acknowledged this and said it should be easier to navigate as a result. Not sure if this was an attempt at humor or not. The first two villages look exactly alike. Again, a half-baked attempt at explaining this was the reason the secondary character got lost, but it felt as if the designer was too lazy to come up with new maps and tried to make an excuse by inserting some vague comment in the game. Speaking of which, the caves looked like nothing more than a slightly hyped up version of the generator. And the plains outside the first village look nearly the same as the plains in the next screen (cliff, tree, bridge placements and all), and looks similar to the plains in the screen after that.

The worst of it is, once you get passed these boring plains, villages, cliffs, etc., some yo-yo captain demands you to go all the way back (by walking, apparently no way to teleport) and revisit the first cave for some quartz. So yeah, the gameplay consists mainly of running back and forth.

How did this game get bumped up?
Basically what amerk said. After the captain takes you to the next town you are stuck there since the town appears to be unfinished and none of the events respond and buildings have no doors. I think the game ends there
