A Note from the developer: I'm now working on this project again, keen to get a working demo out there for early 2012 release. However I cannot promise a fixed timescale. However due to change being made to the game, please be aware that most of the pages will be outdated. As a result, I've also removed all images from the game profile.

A traditional RPG made using the RPG Maker XP game engine, Fallen From Solace is my first attempt at creating a game in the program (proper attempt anyways). I started the project two years ago, but since then it's often been on hold whilst I got my exams and stuff out of the way. I have now started the project again and plan on getting it done. Depending on the success, I've got a sequel planned.

It is a long period of time now, in the world of Talamh, that the nations have being at peace. However, in Alden, an internal conflict has lead to the creation of a state, which under the agenda of its new ruler, the powerful witch Lucifer, has threatened the very peace, and the world must now prepare for war.

There were some who did not recognise Lucifer, and a rebellion had arisen. The underground 'terrorist' organisation, "The Uprisers" had launched an attack, to free the nation. This resistance force, was quickly disbanded in the throne room of the castle itself, when, in one spell, she wiped them all out. This had triggered the enforcement of laws, in which the city was closed off, which crippled any hope of outside news, or help, and lead to the strict rationing of food, which lead to any future fighters, being too weak to fight.

It is a surprise to see that the countries of Ettan and Eragarr have yet to act on what could be their downfall, despite the advancement of Alden's borders. The world is ready to fall, and Alden is looking at victory on the horizon.

Meanwhile, in a small, mountain village in Ettan, a cataclyst is ready, which would see two young adults, venture accross the world of Daeara, in a bid to save their world, their lives and secure the freedom of everyone on the planet.

THE GOOD

Alex
A 19yr old from the village of Seldan located on the Juil Mountains in Ettan. Nothing much is known about his past, and has no memory of his childhood. He lives alone with his mother in the village,

Nathan
Born in Ettan and at 18yrs age, Nathan is Alex' best friend. Living with his parents, Nathan dreams of a greater life in the city, finding the country boring.

Kara
Daughter of a noble family and born in Arterre, Kara is a 20yr old in exile, being hunted by the Alden military for her fathers participation in the rebellion. On the run for her life, she meets up with Alex and Nathan by chance and after helping each other a few teams, decides to join them on their quest.

THE BAD

Lucifer
The powerful witch made her debut in Arterre five years ago. No one knows where she's from but she seems to have her own agenda. Rising to prominance in the Alden military and a ruthless and cunning General, her own lust for power led her to overthrow the king and now governs with an iron fist.

General Sigurd Felgaard
A general of Alden's army, and has taken place as her right hand man. He is the Prince of the Alden and leads the battles on the frontline, which leads to Alex and co. encountering him on several occasions. Aggressive and skilled as a fighter, he sometimes has a trouble managing his temperament. He has been promised the throne by Lucifer, but soon comes to question the broken promises. He is the brother of the rightful King.

This is a Public Service Announcement...

First things first, I've hoped you have had a merry christmas. For those of you still following this project, then here's an update.

This past December has been one of mixed fortunes for me, culminating with me being laid off from my job and ending with a bad Boxing Day in which I came down with a sickness bug. In addition, December also saw me and my family remembering my late mother who passed away eight years ago, around this very time. 2011 has yielded many highs and lows following my attempts to try and work my way into my first job, completing an apprenticeship course, and meeting up with old friends who are making their own way in the world, at university. Indeed 2011 has been a year that I would look forward to seeing the back of.

Now, as most of you might be aware, I've had to take a break from working on this project due to insufficient time to work on it. This was an inconvenience also caused by the project being stuck in a phase of development hell, where ideas for the game struggled to come and I had issues trying to get the ideas I did have, actually put into the project.

As a result of these issues and a change in heart somewhat of the game, I've actually got into a state where I am happy to resume work. This, ofcourse is not without several in game changes.

THE WORLD MAP

First off, the world map will be scrapped. This is due to several reasons.

1. The tileset used for the world map is Inquisitor's, and unfortunately the tileset integrates badly with the standard tilesets used by RMXP. This provided the issue of a game with art styles that clashed, and other tilesets available for using on a world map were either ripped from other projects or commercial games, or ones that I didn't like.

2. I am unhappy somewhat of the shape of the world map in game. The map is very restrictive in terms of size and shape.

As a result I will not use a world map. This will instead be done through a series of field maps linking each location to each other, and instead a map will be created to show locations and respective paths.

THE BATTLE SYSTEM

Secondly, I'm also considering going towards a new battle system. Whilst the one I have is a good side-view ABS, I want to move towards a battle system similar to the one in Chrono Trigger. However, since I'm not a scripter and the fact there are no CT-style RMXP battle systems (to my knowledge) this may be impossible to do. The main reason is that I would prefer a battle system in which the battles take place on the field map with no/minimal transitions.

THE TITLE SCREEN

Thirdly, the Title Screen. Whilst the current title screen I have is a welcome improvement over previous efforts, again I am considering a redo of the title screen. The third title screen is better, but again I doubt it's ability to fit into the game. As a result the title screen will be redone, in order to blend into the game better.

I will promise to get a working demo out sooner rather than later but again I can not put a timescale on it. However, since I am now motivated to carry on the project once more, more so than I have in previous months, hopefully early 2012 will show the first actual playable demo.

I will perhaps take time to note though, that this is a lone project. I am the only one working on this and as such I have very limited resources. However, I am confident to make do with what I've got available to me.

However, until next time, I hope you have had a Merry Christmas and enjoy a great start to a new year.

Legend of Hardon

I can't believe I got to this first.
¬.¬

Just read that and noticed your slip of the tongue.

-_-
@Craze: I was thinking the same thing when I saw this. XD
I was also thinking the same thing and ventured into this gamepage with the sole intention of posting it
legend of h-

fuck, nevermind
Damn, everybody beat me to it.
This font is really jarring. The game itself just looks like a culmination of other people's scripts with some fairly good maps.
What's wrong with the font? :( Do you mean on here, or on the title screen, because I was always thinking of changing that.

And I am gonna put up more info.

I am sorry that was not very productive, please let me contribute by saying that a font with 100 effects is not necessarily pretty, practical, or legible.

Please look at logos for professional games and take notes about what makes them work in terms of graphic design.. Metroid Prime, Tales of Symphonia, Bioshock, Doom, just to name a possible few
Uh well your title screen is a mess but the font on these pages is too big and just looks really out of place to me.
Is the font on teh page better now? I've put it to 12px rather than 14.

I'm redoing the title screen anyway. Thinking of getting one of them animated ones.
You need to change the title back. Do you realize how quickly people will line up to play Legend of Hardon?
You're obsessed with penises, you :P
No, I just know what RMNers like.

To be honest the name "Fantasy Quest: Novus Fabula" is more disgusting than "Hardon"
Here's an idea: Don't make the extra pages until you have content for them.
I vote to change the name back to hardon.. haha
Misao for ugliest Title Screen x 2
Misao for Worst Game Title x 2

Fabula?.... come on! Grats on finding out what the title was for the collective FFXIII series.

"and after scrounging around for creativity" - I will just assume we're being trolled.
