I'm not a fan of the battle backgrounds but maybe that's just RMXP. Whoops, didn't read your note on the front page.

Yeah... battlebacks are one of the issues. Not many in the RMXP resources. The ones that are in don't fit in with a sideview system and I can't find many that do.

Hence why I want to find a different system, or atleast a script that lets me have the field map as the battle background, either that or I'll have to create a map screenshot it.

Try constructing the map and then sticking it through mode 7, screenshotting it and setting it as the battleback. Or even making a general RMXP map for each and making a screenshot of it.
