World's Dawn now on Steam Greenlight!

I have an exciting announcement to share today! World's Dawn is now on Steam Greenlight and needs as many YES votes as possible to get approved and published on the Steam marketplace.

Take a look and throw a vote our way to show your support! Sharing the link with game-playing friends and family is a huge help as well... the Greenlight process is pretty nerve-racking, so any and all support you can offer is highly appreciated. It would be so amazing to get this project onto Steam (and in front of a mainstream audience) after all the time and love I've put into it over the years.

Of course, I've also been hard at work finishing the game and am still on track for an early 2016 release. To show off some of the polished graphics, music, and gameplay, I put together a brand new trailer:

As always, feel free to leave your feedback and let me know what you think. And don't forget to spread the word about Greenlight!

Thank you, all =)

So many improvements!

Hello everyone!
It's been several months since my last update here so I thought I'd check in and share some progress. I've kept very busy since the Kickstarter campaign wrapped up in July (included getting married to the love of my life in September!) and have all kinds of fun stuff to show off.

To give you a better idea of just how many little updates and improvements have been made to the game, I sat down and played through the newly polished intro sequence, noting each and every change as I went. Take a look!

As you can see, the major improvements promised — namely new character portraits and an entirely original soundtrack — are already pretty close to being fully implemented. In addition, everything from the gameplay to the graphics to the sound design is being polished and prettied up.

In technical terms we're nearing the "feature complete" stage, meaning development on the winter season is wrapping up and we're almost ready to dive into quality assurance. The good news is that the current demo (which includes the spring, summer, and autumn seasons) was first made available several months ago, and has already been downloaded by over 5,000 enthusiastic players... so most of the big bugs have already been reported and addressed.

As I mentioned in the video, we're still right on track for an early 2016 release! While you wait, be sure to follow our Facebook page for more regular updates and join our forum to chat with other friendly farmers.

Thank you so much for sticking with World's Dawn all this time! Your support has already made such a huge difference and is helping transform this game into something I'm truly proud of.

World's Dawn is officially funded!

Exciting announcement! Exciting announcement!

The World's Dawn Kickstarter was able to raise a grand total of $6,689 over the past month, thanks to 384 backers and everyone else who liked, shared, commented on, tweeted about, and even played the game during the campaign. This number is 134% of my initial goal and will allow me to add even more improvements to the final product.

I want to say thank you, truly, to everyone who has supported World's Dawn in the 5 years it's been on this site (holy crap, by the way). The RPG Maker community means a lot to me... it helped ignite my interest in game design as a career and has offered endless inspiration, guidance, feedback and resources to help me better my craft.

Some wonderful changes are coming to Sugar Blossom Village in the coming months! Stay tuned here for the big announcements, or follow the official forum or Facebook page for more regular updates. And finally, thank you again to everyone who backed the campaign or shared the link. Keep being amazing, y'all =)

Kickstarter progress and gameplay trailer

Hey everyone,
I just wanted to post an update on how the Kickstarter campaign is going (a special thank you goes out to kentona for the front page spotlight). I've so far raised $3,750 out of my $5,000 goal -- meaning the project is 75% funded about halfway through the campaign.

This is great news! However, it's important to keep the momentum going throughout June... so any help you're willing to offer is especially helpful at this point in the campaign. If anyone has any ideas about where to post the project or who I could reach out to for more views, I'd really appreciate it!

I'm very happy with the support I've received from this community especially and would love to be able to get another polished RPG Maker title out into the public eye. The way I see it, the more quality RM games we put out there, the better the engine's reputation will become and the easier it will be for all of us to take that next step (whether it's going commercial or just finding more players in the mainstream space). That said, thank you for the all the positive energy and well wishes I've received so far this month.

In case you haven't seen it, take a look at the extended trailer I'm using for the Kickstarter campaign video! It shows off a ton of the unique gameplay in World's Dawn.

Thank you again for all your support! Keep the feedback and the good vibes coming as we move into the second half of the campaign!

Kickstarter campaign is live!

Hey all! I have extremely exciting news to share today!

I just launched a Kickstarter campaign for World's Dawn and am looking to raise $5,000 to finish and polish the game. You can check out the campaign at the link below and please please please -- if you love World's Dawn and want to help it get even better, consider throwing a few dollars towards the project. I appreciate every little bit of support, great and small!

I also wanted to clear up some concerns you, the devoted fans, might have about this next step. First of all, World's Dawn is going to get finished even if the Kickstarter campaign is not successful. I don't want you to worry that I'm going to abandon the project this far in. Either way, the winter season is going to be released and you'll be able to play the finished game.

What exactly will the money go towards?
There are more details on the campaign page, but in short, I'm planning to revamp all of the character portraits, rewrite the entire soundtrack, and put the game through a rigorous testing process that will finally iron out all the little bugs in the experience. Check out the image below for one example of these improvements!

Lovely, aren't they? If the project is successfully funded, you can expect the same sort polish to be applied to the entire game, top to bottom.

So does this mean World's Dawn is going commercial?
My hope is to eventually make a little money off of the game, after working on it for the last 5 years. So yes, I'm definitely going to be looking into Steam and other platforms to release the game for a small price. HOWEVER! Because you guys got in early and supported me before anyone else, the game will be COMPLETELY FREE to anyone who has downloaded it prior to today. So please do not delete your game folders or save files! You'll need those to unlock the final release free of charge. I would still love it if you would back the Kickstarter campaign with a few dollars, but I am forever grateful for your support regardless.

Thank you so much, everyone! Please let me know if you have any questions!

Autumn season released!

The day is here! The current download of World's Dawn now contains the complete spring, summer, and AUTUMN seasons all in one compact 93 MB package.

Please let me know if you come across any bugs -- I'll try to fix them as quickly as possible so you can get back to your farming adventure. As I release more and more content for the game, the more variables there are in play, which creates more and more chances for little issues to pop up... so I really appreciate your patience, especially the first few days after release. I expect that within a week or so, the game will be even more polished, so if you'd rather wait until then, that's definitely an option.

On top of the new release, the World's Dawn website has been completely overhauled with a brand new design and some new artwork. If you're at all interested, head on over and check it out -- and maybe even stop by the forums for the game to say hello.

Thank you all so much for your support! Your feedback is always helpful, so don't be shy about leaving a comment or critique.

Autumn trailer and release date

I recently added a trailer for the autumn season under media, but I thought I'd make a quick blog post to make it official! Check out footage of some of the content that's on the way -- including new items, new festivals, and plenty of new secrets to discover.

In addition to the trailer, I have a tentative release date for the autumn season: next Monday, April 27. Once again, you'll be able to carry your save data over from the old download, so no need to play through spring and summer again unless you want to.

I'd also like to point everyone to the World's Dawn wiki page, which is constantly being updated with new content by a handful of awesome players. If you're the kind of person that likes to have a guide with you while you play life sims (which I am definitely guilty of when it comes to Harvest Moon), you can find achievement guides, cooking recipes, ingredient maps, shipping prices, and a whole lot more over on the wiki.

Please let me know what you think of the trailer, and get ready for autumn! And, as always, thank you very much for your support.

New cover artwork

In preparation of the upcoming autumn release (and more exciting future plans I'm not quite ready to share yet) take a look at this brand new World's Dawn cover art! Special thanks goes out to Erangot, the artist behind this fantastic piece and all the character portraits in the game itself.

My hope is that this artwork will give potential players a good idea of the genre and overall feel of the game at a moment's glance. I absolutely love early Harvest Moon official art and wanted to do something similar to really give Sugar Blossom Village a better, more colorful sense of place.

Quick update on the autumn season: I'm confident enough to say the next chapter will be released by the end of this month! I'm still unsure of a specific date as of yet, but stay tuned for more on that front. Hopefully not too much longer... Thank you for being patient in the meantime, and continuing to support the project.

Please let me know what you think of the artwork! Does it capture the feel of a quiet, slow-paced farming sim?

Overdue update on the autumn season

Hello everyone! It's been a long time!

World's Dawn is still heavy in development -- I'm actually reworking several things that were causing some people a lot of lag in previous seasons. Optimizing is not the most fun job, and it's been tedious, but I'm planning on being able to release the autumn season with all these fixes included within the next month.

I missed my projected release window of 2014 (not a huge surprise, life always manages to get in the way...) but I just wanted to assure everyone that the project is still very much alive. After something like 5 years in development, it's crazy to think that the final, finished product is not far off.

In the meantime, please continue to share the game with whoever you think might enjoy it! There seems to be a big demand around the interwebs for Harvest Moon-inspired indies, and even with just the spring and summer seasons available currently, World's Dawn offers somewhere around 15 (free) hours of gameplay in that style.

To prove I'm still chugging along, here's a look at the autumn season:

If you're interested in following more regular updates on the project, the Facebook page is your best bet. There's also the brand new World's Dawn forum attached to the main site.

Thanks, all!

Summer season ready to play!

It's taken a little longer than I predicted to release, but I'm happy to say the full summer season is finally ready to play!

In this compact 83 MB download you'll find both the spring and summer seasons of the game. If you're new to World's Dawn or would like to start from the beginning, you can simply begin a new file and play continuously through both seasons. If you have save progress from the spring that you would like to carry over, copy all of the Entry files from inside the old Diary folder and into the new one. If you have any trouble with the transfer process, let me know!

Many hours of gameplay are available in this download (approximately 15+ on an average playthrough), and it's still not a finished product! The autumn and winter seasons are on the way, so expect updates on those in the coming months.

I would like to thank everyone for your support and your feedback, which has truly helped in pushing the development process along and creating a much more polished game. I've worked extremely hard on the project over many years, and any help you can offer in return is greatly appreciated. There's even a PayPal link on the project website if you feel like donating a few bucks towards development!

Thanks again, all! Enjoy the summer season and let me know what you think!

EDIT: If you downloaded the file on the very first day, there might be 1 or 2 small bugs that are now fixed in the latest version. Sorry for the trouble and please leave a comment if you find any other issues!
