Bug fixes and screenshot comparisons

It's been a little over a week since the release of the spring season and I'm happy with the response so far! Since then, players have helped me identify a handful of issues and bugs (nothing too major) that went unnoticed by myself and my testers. Most of those issues have been fixed and a new version of the season has been uploaded! For anyone who encountered these issues and have yet to complete the season, you should be able to copy your save file over from the old "Diary" folder to the new one.

If anyone finds anything else, or has further suggestions on how to improve the game moving forward, please let me know!

Which brings me to my second point, which is that I would absolutely love some more feedback on the game. The players I have heard from have been great, but if anyone else wants to help me out by writing up a quick review or even just a few sentences on what you like or don't like, I would truly appreciate it. I've already started work on the next chapter (to hopefully come out within a couple months) and could really use your help.

Finally, I was looking at the old demo that was released was back in 2010 and laughing about how much different (and worse) the game looked then. I have some fancy mouseover comparisons over at my blog but the screenshot below will give you some idea. World's Dawn has come a long way!

Hey Sagitar,

Downloaded this last night and have pretty much been playing it since, I have NO IDEA how I missed this before, but I'm subbed now, so all good.

A few little things;

I adore the fact that same gender romance is included, I'm playing it as a female and I've set my sights on Hailey (red-heads, what can I say?) and I'm up to two hearts at the moment, at day 14 so I'm hoping by the time the dance I've read about comes around I'll have a partner to share it with, though I hope the tailor is back by then, I'll need some fancy clothes!

I just wanted to ask, will I be able to get sheep? I've got two cows (Daisy & Buttercup), two hens (Penny & Henrietta - what else do you call hens?) and my horse Lightning, because that palomino can move, I haven't looked at getting any more chickens, my little paddock is crowded on sunny days as it is, but I noticed at the ranch that they have sheep...so now I want sheep too! (and yes, I'd call him Shaun, so sue me).

...and lastly I think I found a glitch, when I'm gifting our lovely post-mistress Senah her darling grapes she says "Sizzling Stir-Fry, I love the way the flavours burst in your mouth" which sounds like the thing you'd say for grapes, but she says Sizzling Stir-Fry. Not sure if that was an accidental give-away for her favourite dish, or if I'm getting more friendship points than I should but I thought I'd mention it. It's probably just a misplaced item association.

Ok, so that wasn't lastly, I just had to mention, the reaction when I forgot to put on a change of clothes (shirt) was priceless, so much so that I then tried it sans pants, brilliant! It's that level of additional detail that makes this such a fun and engrossing game.

I know I'm only 14 days in for what is supposedly a 3 month period (given it's a season), but get Summer ready, I'm going to want it soon!

Edit: just found an odd one, Bloom is listed on your website as liking Berry Crisp, but when I tried to give him one I got the message that I could keep it and that his Mum told him not to accept any old junk.

Thanks for the extensive feedback! I really appreciate your time and I'm glad you're enjoying the game so far.

I think it's ridiculous that same gender romance isn't included in Harvest Moon/other sim games, as it doesn't take any more work from a technical standpoint. Why not include all preferences? It sounds like you're definitely making progress with Hailey ahead of the dance festival, so well done!

At the moment, you're not able to get sheep in the game and I hadn't really planned on adding them. I will definitely consider it though! And wow, you're doing really well if you have all those animals by day 14! That's impressive. How have you been making all that money?

As for the two issues you found with people mentioning the wrong gifts... I believe Senah is treating grapes correctly, she's just calling them the wrong thing. And for Bloom, for some reason I listed his gifts wrong on the website. He actually likes Cacao Chocolate, Water Sundew, and Culinary Sugar. Sorry for the trouble! I'll fix that on the site as soon as I get a chance. And thanks for pointing that out.

I'm sorry to tell you this, but the spring season is actually just one "month" (28 days) so you're about halfway through the playable content. I'll try to get summer finished soon!

Thanks again for the feedback! Maybe you could consider submitting a review to the site and help me generate some more buzz? If not, no problem -- I know that's a lot of work! Enjoy the rest of the game =)

Oh, no, only 28 days? I'm going to have to ration myself. How am I going to make all these people adore me in less than 2 weeks? (I'm up to day 18 now). Well there is a challenge if I ever heard one. Is there a reason it's limited like that? One other game in a similar vein that I like too is Homework Salesman, which has the whole make friends/mine/quests/foraging (though with fighting but no farming), but it is open-ended in regard to days, you can play for as long as you like, just there are certain events which bring about the end of the chapter, rather than a time limit. Just wondering why you chose the time rather than event limited route?

In regard to the money, I had a really lucky break, for some reason I had a run of diamonds being created from the mining (which is seriously the best way to make money early) and whilst digging with Sirius (my dog) I ran across 2 of the Eden Fruit, one as a straight dig and one after interaction with a well-spoken slime, which gave me a boost in regard to the amount of stuff I could get done in a day. Then of course I got another one after the horse race, oddly it all adds up. I haven't got any other animals yet as I don't have the money, but given that the chicken feed can only go up to 4 I'm assuming that's the limit for the feathered denizens. (I'm going to call them Yoko and Kiev :) )

Thanks for letting me know about Bloom, I'll change his preferences on my spreadsheet (yes I made a matrix so I'd have easy reference when I'm off-line), that makes sense, and mistakes happen at least now I'll be able to give him something he likes. Though small glitch, the image that comes up for the Culinary Sugar is the watering can (when I go to give it to him, the one above my head) no big deal, just it looks funny. I can't seem to find any of the things that Petal likes so far, I'm assuming they'll be available in the later 'seasons' - strike that, worked out I could buy the tea at the pub.

Another couple of things, I bought the fox mask from Paxel and raced off to the wilderness to talk to the fox, but I'm still getting nothing from it, and the mask isn't listed as a tool that I can equip, have I missed something?

Also I'm assuming that the cat is one of the 'spirits' that Paxel hinted at, so I'm feeding it fish every day that I can, though if it ends up just being a pet, that'll be cool too. - Ok update the kitty has just joined the household and I spent the first 1/2 of the day running around trying to work out how to feed her when I realised I'd been giving her fish all along so I popped a sunfish in her bowl and all good. (Still hoping she's secretly a 'spirit' though.)

Additionally is there a way to see the 'marks' you've earned? I know you get a pop-up telling you about them, but is there a book that shows your achievements? Or maybe you get a plaque in your house listing them? That'd be cool, like a roll of honour.

Oh and what is with the dusk hoppers? I've caught a couple so far, but they don't show up in inventory, so I'm unsure as to what they are other than glowing insects. Is it just a bit of fun and I let them go after I've caught them? If so, maybe there should be a message that says that.

Seriously consider the sheep, then when the tailor comes back, I can provide her with wool/thread for her outfits as a friendship option.

I've never written a review for this site, not sure given some of the comments that get made on reviews I've read that I would want to subject myself to that, but given how much I'm enjoying this game, perhaps I should run the risk. It would have to be after I've finished it though.

Don't give up on this one, y'hear? It took me a while to remember that you did Demon Kingdom, which I also adored (and commented on on a different site to this one) but I know that's on hiatus due to technical issues. Though if you could just give up everything else in your life to get both of these games finished, that'd be great too :)

Right, I'm off to romance Hailey some more, thankfully those Wild Mushrooms and Tasty Milks don't cost me anything but time.
You will be able to play World's Dawn as long as you want to, the problem is that the other seasons aren't completed. Once they are, you'll be able to play through Spring - Summer - Autumn - Winter and then back to Spring for a theoretically infinite playtime. So even once you complete the "story", there's no real time limit.

Sounds like you did get lucky with mining! It's awesome that you've been able to make so much money and discover so many things with the Spring season, including the Eden Fruit and the sage glop and your new cat friend. Have you played Harvest Moon a lot before? You seem like a pro at this type of game.

The fox mask you bought is a piece of "clothing" you have to equip at the chest in your house. Now that I think about it, you may encounter one or two issues talking to the fox, but we'll see!

There is a way to see the marks you've collected at your bookshelf in your house. You can also see how many dusk hoppers you've caught so far in the collection book there. They're mostly just a collectible for expert players, but you'll definitely get an awesome reward if you eventually find them all!

Hah, no problem about the review, they just help games get more attention on this site it seems. And either way I will definitely continue work on this game! The summer season is well on course to be completed within the next few months with additional seasons not far behind. It's awesome that you remember Prophecy as well, and enjoyed both games. I put a lot of work into both so thanks again for the great feedback! It inspires me to work even harder.

Hey, actually I've NEVER played Harvest Moon. I know what it is, but I've never owned a game-boy or Nintendo system, so no option to play. However I know a lot of people have and the great thing about that is that people like you make games like this which has an echo of it and I adore these games.

Brilliant to know this is an open-ended game, I do like to be able to take my own time with games like this, so that's great - and thanks for letting me know what to do with the Fox Mask. I'll let you know if I run into any issues, hopefully I wont.

EDIT: Ok talked to the Fox, and he told me I was clever for wearing his face and then pointed out I'd earned 10 Marks and said he'd share a nugget of wisdom. I got a graphic and then he said he's be back in 7 days and disappeared. However I'm not sure what I got, I don't have anything new in my inventory that I could see. I went back to the chest to see if it was like the mask and something I had to equip, but nope. So was I supposed to 'get' something or is it something behind the scenes that makes people react differently?

Oh and yes I did manage to find the book, seriously who would have though to look at a book on a shelf :).

I got my dance with Hailey too, two Princesses on the stage, it was great, and that dance scene is just about my level of reaction mini-game so thanks for not making it too hard! Her reactions to me now are different, which is great.

Ok I'll stop distracting you now so you can finish Summer and start working on Autumn.

P.S. Prophecy was so very good, I go back and play it ever so often when I'm disappointed in something I'm trying out and it reminds me there is some really good games out there.
Thanks again for the feedback. I'll have to look at the fox and see if everything is programmed in right, it sounds like it didn't actually give you anything even though it was supposed to. Honestly I wasn't sure anyone would be able to talk to him so early in the game!

Crazy that you've never played Harvest Moon O.O If you like this style of game, you should definitely give that series a try.

I really appreciate your time and passion for the game. I'm glad you're enjoying it and hope to hear from you again when summer rolls around!
