World's Dawn developer let's play

Hey everyone! Wow, it's been a long time O.O

I wanted to drop by because I'm returning to World's Dawn three years after release (!) for a developer let's play. I'll be going through a good chunk of the game with a friend and sharing behind-the-scenes stories, community comments, and laughs aplenty. I thought some fellow RM folks might be interested in how the project came together and why certain decisions were made, that sort of thing.

I've been going through a bit of a rough patch lately, so this cozy, casual series has been a good way to decompress and stay connected with other players and developers. If you think you might enjoy it, there are a few episodes up on YouTube already and more to come very soon! And please do let me know what you think. I've never recorded anything like this before, so feedback is certainly welcome.

Thanks all! I really appreciate the support this community has given me over the years.

Announcement

Trading Cards and a big weeklong discount

Hey everyone,
I thought I'd drop in to say that World's Dawn is currently 50% OFF as part of this week's Steam sale! This is the cheapest the game has ever been, so if you or anyone you know has been waiting to jump in, now is great time to do so. I appreciate any help you can offer spreading the word this week as well =)

In other news, I'm happy to announce that Steam Trading Cards have been added to the game! Starting today you're able to unlock badges, emoticons, and profile backgrounds by collecting and trading 12 unique cards, each one featuring a different Sugar Blossom villager. You can learn more here if you're unfamiliar with how Steam cards and rewards work.

Unfortunately, the next big content update (which includes the addition of Quint and Senah as marriage candidates) is still not quite ready for release. I'm truly sorry for the delay... it's been a very busy summer and I just haven't been able to find the time I'd like to be able to work on World's Dawn. I hope you all know how much I appreciate your support and your patience in the meantime.

Thank you very much for reading!
And welcome to any new players this weeklong sale might bring!

Steam Summer Sale and future updates

Hey all! It's been a while!

The Steam Summer Sale began today, meaning you can pick up World's Dawn for a whopping 40% OFF now until July 4! Anyone who might have been on the fence and wants to give the game a try should definitely take advantage of the $7.79 price point:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/432010/

In addition, big content updates are on the way, including the much-requested addition of new marriage candidates Quint and Senah. I'm not quite sure when this free update will go live, but it should be soon.

Okay, so how about some super secret insider information? As of right now, World's Dawn has sold about 8,000 copies on Steam. While not enough to allow me to quit my day job and become a full-time developer, that number is still way above my expectations and makes me incredibly proud. It's such a wonderful feeling after all the work that went into it over the years, including the stressful Kickstarter and Greenlight campaigns that couldn't have been good for my heart.

I've said this before, but the RPG Maker community was instrumental in getting this game off the ground and providing invaluable feedback in the early stages... so thank you again to everyone who contributed! I truly, truly appreciate it =)

More news is coming soon!

Announcement

World's Dawn is now available on Steam!

After several years in development, World's Dawn is finally complete and available on Steam!
http://store.steampowered.com/app/432010/

I want to extend one final thank you (who I am I kidding, I'll probably say it again...) to everyone who has followed this game from the very beginning. I've received so much love, support, and enthusiastic feedback over the years and World's Dawn could not have been possible without all of it. I truly hope you all enjoy the final product.

If you spend some time playing and have a few minutes to spare, please please PLEASE consider writing up a quick review on Steam. Reviews can make or break a game, especially within the first few week or so. I know I can count on longtime fans of World's Dawn to show your love one more time!

I plan to continue updating the game for the foreseeable future with bug fixes and minor improvements, so please continue to share your thoughts and feedback.

World's Dawn coming to Steam

The final version of World's Dawn is launching on Steam January 25!

I'm so happy and relieved to finally make this announcement, and thrilled for everyone to get a chance to play the finished game. You can check out the game on Steam here or take a look at the newly redesigned website for more details.

In addition, a brand new demo has been uploaded to this site, which includes the first 3 days of the final game. You'll see the new character portraits, the brand new original soundtrack, and countless other improvements from the previous version. I really hope you enjoy everything that's gone into making this final product as pretty and polished as possible!

If you're a long time fan of the game, and have been following the project since the early days, I'm so grateful for your support and am working on a way for you to be able to unlock the complete story for free. I'll be posting updates as I figure out all the details, although I may not have the whole system ready to go in time for the release date on the 25th... Either way, I truly appreciate you sticking with World's Dawn all this time. It's crazy to think I'm at the end of what's been such a long journey.

Thanks for reading ! Let me know if you have any thoughts or questions and I'd be happy to answer them.

Announcement

World's Dawn has been Greenlit!

Exciting news — World's Dawn has been Greenlit on Steam! In just 21 days, the game received enough votes, shares and comments to get noticed by Valve, who are now working with me to help bring it to the Steam marketplace early next year.

This is an amazing step forward and it's all thanks to such positive, enthusiastic support from the community. To everyone who played the very first demo back in 2011, everyone who reported bugs here on RMN, everyone who helped build out the incredible wiki, everyone who backed the Kickstarter campaign and everyone who voted yes on Greenlight... THANK YOU!

The game has come a heck of a long way since I posted the first demo here on this site, and over the years it's transformed into something I'm really proud of. Every little detail, from the graphics to the music to the sound design to the farming mechanics to the UI, has been updated and improved in some way or another. Just being able to finally finish the game feels great, and bringing it to a wider audience through Steam is a happy bonus.

Not long now! Thanks for your continued support in the meantime and especially for your patience.

Announcement

World's Dawn now on Steam Greenlight!

I have an exciting announcement to share today! World's Dawn is now on Steam Greenlight and needs as many YES votes as possible to get approved and published on the Steam marketplace.

Take a look and throw a vote our way to show your support! Sharing the link with game-playing friends and family is a huge help as well... the Greenlight process is pretty nerve-racking, so any and all support you can offer is highly appreciated. It would be so amazing to get this project onto Steam (and in front of a mainstream audience) after all the time and love I've put into it over the years.

Of course, I've also been hard at work finishing the game and am still on track for an early 2016 release. To show off some of the polished graphics, music, and gameplay, I put together a brand new trailer:

As always, feel free to leave your feedback and let me know what you think. And don't forget to spread the word about Greenlight!

Thank you, all =)

Progress Report

So many improvements!

Hello everyone!
It's been several months since my last update here so I thought I'd check in and share some progress. I've kept very busy since the Kickstarter campaign wrapped up in July (included getting married to the love of my life in September!) and have all kinds of fun stuff to show off.

To give you a better idea of just how many little updates and improvements have been made to the game, I sat down and played through the newly polished intro sequence, noting each and every change as I went. Take a look!

As you can see, the major improvements promised — namely new character portraits and an entirely original soundtrack — are already pretty close to being fully implemented. In addition, everything from the gameplay to the graphics to the sound design is being polished and prettied up.

In technical terms we're nearing the "feature complete" stage, meaning development on the winter season is wrapping up and we're almost ready to dive into quality assurance. The good news is that the current demo (which includes the spring, summer, and autumn seasons) was first made available several months ago, and has already been downloaded by over 5,000 enthusiastic players... so most of the big bugs have already been reported and addressed.

As I mentioned in the video, we're still right on track for an early 2016 release! While you wait, be sure to follow our Facebook page for more regular updates and join our forum to chat with other friendly farmers.

Thank you so much for sticking with World's Dawn all this time! Your support has already made such a huge difference and is helping transform this game into something I'm truly proud of.

Announcement

World's Dawn is officially funded!

Exciting announcement! Exciting announcement!

The World's Dawn Kickstarter was able to raise a grand total of $6,689 over the past month, thanks to 384 backers and everyone else who liked, shared, commented on, tweeted about, and even played the game during the campaign. This number is 134% of my initial goal and will allow me to add even more improvements to the final product.

I want to say thank you, truly, to everyone who has supported World's Dawn in the 5 years it's been on this site (holy crap, by the way). The RPG Maker community means a lot to me... it helped ignite my interest in game design as a career and has offered endless inspiration, guidance, feedback and resources to help me better my craft.

Some wonderful changes are coming to Sugar Blossom Village in the coming months! Stay tuned here for the big announcements, or follow the official forum or Facebook page for more regular updates. And finally, thank you again to everyone who backed the campaign or shared the link. Keep being amazing, y'all =)

Progress Report

Kickstarter progress and gameplay trailer

Hey everyone,
I just wanted to post an update on how the Kickstarter campaign is going (a special thank you goes out to kentona for the front page spotlight). I've so far raised $3,750 out of my $5,000 goal -- meaning the project is 75% funded about halfway through the campaign.

This is great news! However, it's important to keep the momentum going throughout June... so any help you're willing to offer is especially helpful at this point in the campaign. If anyone has any ideas about where to post the project or who I could reach out to for more views, I'd really appreciate it!

I'm very happy with the support I've received from this community especially and would love to be able to get another polished RPG Maker title out into the public eye. The way I see it, the more quality RM games we put out there, the better the engine's reputation will become and the easier it will be for all of us to take that next step (whether it's going commercial or just finding more players in the mainstream space). That said, thank you for the all the positive energy and well wishes I've received so far this month.

In case you haven't seen it, take a look at the extended trailer I'm using for the Kickstarter campaign video! It shows off a ton of the unique gameplay in World's Dawn.

Thank you again for all your support! Keep the feedback and the good vibes coming as we move into the second half of the campaign!
