The War Priest

"Your ribs have been renewed through Khryl's Love."
"Thanks for taking care of it while I was out. Khryl's love, I recall, feels a lot like having a handful of red-hot barbwire shoved up my ass."

-Caine Black Knife

Kryllor is the god of fire, war, and glory. His commandments do not at all represent the meekness, mercy, and compassion of our world's Judeo-Christian God, nor can they be easily compared to any D&D "alignment". Kryllor teaches that honorably acquitting oneself in battle is the best way of life, and that dying from combat wounds is the only acceptable way of death and dying. Kryllor does not particularly care which side you fight for, if their cause is just or unjust, as long as you are not a traitor, a craven coward, or a despicable murderer of innocent women or children (not that that stops some truly despicable war bands from worshiping Kryllor). Even fighting for gold has honor in the eyes of Kryllor, which means he is revered by mercenaries, sellswords, and raiders as well as knights and soldiers.

Although the worship of Kryllor began in the barren desolation of the Balefire Isles, where the three most common occupations are mercenary work, piracy, and smuggling, the clerics of Kryllor are divided amongst all of the Provinces and factions like the Healing Sisters of Elyria are. (The two clerical orders have opposite points of view, and significant enmity for each other.) In addition to being formidable warriors in their own right, true War Priests of Kryllor have the power to heal wounds received in battle- and ONLY wounds received in battle. This means that diseases, wounds sustained from accidents, and the wounds inflicted by an assassin on a victim all cannot be healed by War Priests. The healing of War Priests condenses the pain of a wound's natural healing into one second of unbearable, soul-searing pain, commensurately accelerating the closure of the wound. War Priests can also use their battle prayers to bless their allies and smite their enemies. (Unlike Healing Sisters who are not supposed to strike each other in battle even if they meet as hospitaliers on opposite sides, Kryll will gladly answer the prayer of one of his priests to send down divine fire to smite another one of his priests, and then do the same the other way around, as long as they meet on opposite sides in honorable battle.)
