It's because the white on his face is the same as the background color. I had the same issue with a few of my facesets, but it is easily fixable.

If you haven't already, going into MS-Paint (or any other program of the sort) and using the bucket tool to change the background to any color that the portrait doesn't share, then designating that as the transparent color will fix it.

It's funny, I tried that, and there were still effing holes there!!! As a side note, the last boss battle/s is/are going to be a BITCH.
