Praise for HnG! DA's humor and writing:

"Despite a few typos, the demo is really well written. Maybe you just explain the characters further in, but I feel like I wouldn't have gotten the nuance to what was going on had I not read all of your descriptions. Overall, though, I feel I would have enjoyed the dialogue regardless."
"The characters can't talk enough. I normally skim through even good dialogue, but this stuff is off the charts so far."
- aphonia

"I didn't think it was possible, but the dialogue is even more amusing than Disgaea. It made me laugh more than any RPG I've played so far and in a good way when normally I laugh at the absurdity of the dialogue in most (badly written) RMVXP games. XD I'm a fan of the show and you've got the character's personalities spot on. Combined with the good use of facets and appropriate music from the OST, it really felt as though I was watching an actual episode of Hayate."
- Fast Squirrel

"Hey sunshinesan I hadn't seen this manga/anime before but I still really enjoyed the game. It was really witty and fun and the storyline was refreshing."
- feedingwolves

"Characterization and dialogue seem to match with what I've read in the translated Hayate manga. The humor is just as fourth-wall-breaking and absurd."
- caddyalan

"Hayate no Gotoku! excels in all things plot-related. It boasts fantastic writing, a likable cast of characters, and downright authentic humor."
" I've never watched the source material, and I still found this game absolutely hilarious. The characters would constantly break the fourth wall and make random references, but it was done so well that it never got old. Honestly, if this was a book, I'd read it to the end. "
-Slashandz

"...it's as tongue-and-cheek as I expected. The fourth wall is broken in several places, and is hilarious ways. This is done mostly by the narration, but the characters themselves break it with snide commentary about cliche video games.
The characters themselves are hilarious. They are on a crusade to create a video game adventure with a non-cliched video game plot. While I never quite finished the demo to it's most complete point... I think it would be terribly ironic if their adventure hits all the video game cliches known to man. If written properly, and the writing seems to be very capable, it could make for some serious laugh-out-loud times."
"The humor is awesome! I have high hopes that it will be consistently so for future updates. Failing to choose Nagi as a party member is the most epic way to get a Game Over screen. Ever. I mean, how obvious can you get?"
- Marrend

"The funny story telling, random adventures, and unique character interactions will keep you constantly laughing throughout the game. If you are an HnG fan that read/seen the series, then this game would probably be 5 times more enjoyable. If not, you will still be laughing at all the JRPG jokes."
