Hobotropolis:

The gang has grown restless after their return to adventuring concluded several months earlier with the events in Little China, Maine. Our hero's companions come up with a plan for the ultimate vacation in the save hobo's jealously guarded resort known as "Hobotropolis." But the effects of the recently-deceased council are still resounding through this realm, and beneath Hobotropolis's jovial exterior, there is a familiar darkness stirring in its hoary bowels...

Big Trouble in Little China, Maine:

Strange things are afoot in Webber's frozen homeland in China, Maine. He enlists the help of Anebriate and the gang to check things out, only to find that someone with extraordinary powers has been terrorizing the locals. Upon investigating, they discover a series of clues which lead them to Augusta, the overgrown former-capital of Maine which is now a hippie colony and Native American reservation. These clues lead them to a revelation nearly as terrifying as George Washington himself: the culprit appears to be a rogue save hobo. Anebriate and company must enter the Save Realm and seek justice from the Supreme Save Council.

The Original:

A few years ago, in the entirely fictional kingdom of Maine, a political band of foreign diplomats seized control of the throne and began manipulating the current king in power. Plundering Maine's rich economy, this mysterious organization was eventually found out and expedited viciously by a small force of totally radical warriors, chief among them the protagonist of our story: Anebriate. Order was eventually restored to the kingdom, but the riches lost could not be recovered. Totally unrelated, Anebriate became absurdly wealthy and spent his days loafing around in his house, drinking himself into comas and picking fights with local shopkeepers.

This story begins upon the eve of a series of catastrophic events which will lead to Anebriate suffering the loss of his vast wealth, his house, his memory, and subsequently, his impressive skills.

This is a tale of recovery--not just the recovery of monetary concerns or memory, but also the recovery of lost humanity.

Coming Soon: VERSION II

Hello, fine and handsome young people of the RPG Maker community!

I am stopping by to announce (for those of you who are not already in the know) that I am currently developing an update to Tales of the Drunken Paladin that will affect all of the content to date. I'm calling this new release "Version 2," since it is not an expansion, per se, but a major improvement to what already exists (although it will be adding some new stuff as well).

And without further ado, here's a list of things to expect:

- Voice-acted introduction!
- All boss fights are improved!
- A "Hard Mode," available after the first completion!
- Digging, a new way of finding potentially rare and unique treasure!
- The town of Topsham, home of the archeology museum and excavation site!
- A new mode of fast transportation!

...And much more!

No release date as of yet, but I am pretty far along in the process, so it won't be long. As always, keep most up-to-date by checking the game's official forum and facebook.

the crazier it is, the more i like it!
followed it on youtube and ur site.
greetings from www.fireheart.tk
I've only played about 40 minutes of this game so far, but to me it's like a modern version of the first time playing Jay's Journey. Very humorous game. I don't finish playing through too many RM games but this one might just happen.
I'm wondering, will Book 1 and Book 2 ever be released? Or are they fictitious stories that don't need to be explored?
Hi Sbester, sorry for the delayed response.

Book I was created a long time ago on RM2K and won't be released any time soon unless I rework it entirely. Book II was sort of a failed experiment in RMXP, but its lore carried on through the years despite the fact that the project itself was abandoned.

So you aren't missing anything, really! XP
My god I love this game! I feel so inferior when I play it though....
Thanks Ten_Blue_Egyptians, glad you like it.

Also, one of my reviews got removed or something? This reeks of conspiracy, I say!
Yeah, I just noticed that myself. It was removed because "it read more like a series of adulations than a review."

I feel bad because Calunio and I persuaded the writer to bump the score to 5/5 (from 4.5/5) since, judging by the content of the review, he thought Drunken Paladin was a really really great game. It might've still been here if we hadn't done that. (5/5 star reviews are subject to more stringent requirements)

Apparently someone else posted a review as well that got deleted, according to my notices.

Ah, well. Haters gonna' hate. =P
Found out something weird when u start the game that music is really similiar with MMORPG MapleStory's Town ''Rien'' and in Rien u play with character which had Max level but lost his memory and became level 1 then he goes on journey to regain his memories O_o quite similiar Story... That is really low chance to happen accidently
if u copied that its nothing bad But if Nexon copies ur game you get my respect :)

Btw in MapleStory that guy who lost his memory uses ''Pole Arms'' which is similiar to Anebriate's Spears

Really interesting O_o please answer who copied im curious
Haha, I've never played Maple Story before, but that's pretty cool.

That music is from Crystal Chronicles, and a lot of games begin with an amnesiac character.
okay it was just so similiar story and actor wearing same kind weapons and the music too
i believe you but if ur game's first town would be covered in snow and ice i wouldnt believe :D

btw can i ask when was first relase of Drunken Paladin?
just going compare with ''Aran'' of MapleStory

heh also same First letter of name :D
Heh,funny game, very funny and who would tought Shakespear was an adventure lol but the only problem it's that it lack's of gameplay but aside from that i like this game.

Hey, before I say anything else, I really enjoy playing this game (I'm not very far, but still its fun). Anyway, I went to the herbalist and tried to turn in my lady sandals and the guy said i didn't have enough when I had about 15 or so of them. any suggestions?
@ Oblic: Thanks man, glad you like the game.

The issue with the herbalist is a matter of it taking 10 patches to fully repair. The issue that was eventually discovered is that one of the scripts is using Variable #11, but doesn't make a disclaimer about doing so, and I was simultaneously using variable 11 to count the flowers.

So even though the issue is now fixed in my current game, all save games will probably still be extremely wonky when dealing with herbalizing that one particular plant. Unfortunately, there's nothing I can do to retroactively fix peoples' save files, but if you feel that it's important enough, you could send the save file to me and I could sort it out on my computer manually.

Sorry for the trouble with that, and thanks for playing. =P
The download button wasn't working because I hadn't updated it in a couple of months.

It should be all up and running again.
Aha! The first one! I actually download and played the beginning DP2 without playing this one. I was so confused :|
I put the game down for a while, and when I came back to it, I forgot what I was suppose to do and I just kinda forgot about it. Now that I spotted this one, I might just start the second one over.

Wait, I forgot my compliment...

Awesomely hilarious game! Even my brother stole my computer away from me just to play this (the sequel, that is)!
The next expansion, Hobotropolis, is steadily underway.

I'm a graduate student, so time is a rare, precious thing. But when I have it, and I am teetering on the brink of kicking back and drinking lemonade, I think of you guys and force myself to sit down and at least put a few touches on the game.
Just so I'm clear on this, the "Big Trouble in Little China, Maine" expansion version also contains the original "Book III" version? So, I don't need both if I just want to play the original?
