You're an apprentice of the Fighters Guild in the kingdom of Whitecroft.

During troubling times, you're sent to deliver a message to a nearby town, however your mission shall not end so simply. Fight to uncover the corruption that is threatening to ravage Whitecroft, and become a hero of your kingdom. Help your comrades from the Guild and learn the reason for the unexpected war that ended the life of peace you once knew.

Features:
* A story with turns, twists, and surprises.
* Four main characters with different personalities.
* A crafting system that allows you to create your own weapons, armor, and items.
* Emphasis on exploration and side-quests.

Well it has been more than a year already since Legacy of the Guilds has started.
I've been inspired by Daggerfall, Tactics Ogre, Fire Emblem, Might&Magic, a little D&D and many others. Hopefully it will turn out to be a fun game.

** Current version: Demo v 0.06

Download Updated to v0.07c - Lots of Bug Fixes!

Ok, I have updated the download.
The previous one had its fair share of bugs, that somehow slipped by me.
They should be corrected in this new version.

Bear in mind, there might still be bugs left.
I will do my best to fix them as they are discovered.

A HUGE shout-out to Roy, who was kind enough to report most of these bugs.
Also bigtime. All of your feedback about this is always appreciated.

Also, your saved games from the previous download WILL NOT WORK with this one. They might load, but will crash eventually.
PLEASE START A NEW GAME.

I apologize for any inconveniences!
Feel free to comment here with any complaints, bug experiences, suggestions, criticism, praise or general comments!

Thank you very much!

CHANGELOG:

Version 0.07c:
- FIXED: After the Orc Boss, there is a chest. Inside the chest was supposed to be a reward item. The item is now correct.
- FIXED: More fixes concerning crashes and imbalances regarding some Blacksmithing recipes.

Version 0.07b:
- FIXED: A bug that makes all Alchemy Recipes unusable and crashes the game.
- FIXED: A bug that makes the game crash when attempting to forge certain items. I was due to a misnamed icon graphics file.
- FIXED: A bug that makes the game crash when attempting to attack an enemy without a weapon equipped.
- FIXED: One of the Blacksmithing recipes ("Copper Axe") was essentially free to make, leading to imbalance of resources (infinte selling, haha).
- FIXED: A bug that causes the final battle with Lucan to be repeatable forever.
- FIXED: A bug that allowed the player to leave the crypts before getting a key item.
- FIXED: Some tiny graphical changes in some text-boxes.
- BALANCED: Some tiny balancing on the ATK of some weapons available to the player.

working... working...
Uh,i had some problems in your game,i cant change the name of the first character,i may even change it,
but only the first message shows the name i had put before, after that the name changes back to Noish.
And also,theres no music.=/
Edit:It seens that if you add the first character BEFORE changing its name, then there is no problem neither in his name or in the messages.

thanks for the info, anyon! it is indeed as you say: a mistake from my part in the beginning event just ignores the name just inputted. I will correct that.

Also... when you say there's no music... you mean you don't hear ANY MUSIC at all? or just that there are TOO FEW tunes? because I admit that may just be the case. But in the town and in the field, and in most cutscenes there should be music in the background.

Nonetheless, I will consider this... This version is far from perfect... I have been working the last week, adding a couple more maps, balancing a few things...

Please tell me your impressions from any other aspects of the game when you have time, such as:
a) There are too many/too few battles.
b) The game is too hard/too easy.
c) The writing is good/bad
d) The cave dungeon is too short/too long.

Anything you want to comment will help me!
Thanks for taking the trouble to download and try the game!
Hmmm, theres no music in all of the maps.
Now,about the game:
a)Theres only a few battles, but thats because its a short demo.
b)The game is a little hard,as i have 22 hp and each of the bees take 8 damage of it,Noish only does 3 to 4 damage and a critical of 7,and the reward is incredibly low,as you only win the bees wing and if you sell it,it gives you 1 gold, that besides you cant sleep in the inn.
c)I think that in this demo the writing was good, but the demo is too short.
d)The cave is short and the enemies are even harder,i have to hope that they cast anger or im dead.
I think that the bees should have more speed and less atack, either that or put rats in the field instead of
bees. And put something that makes a full recovery for all the party, like in the save point, that or make another inn.Besides these things i think theres nothing wrong,so...good luck making the game.=P

thank you! It is indeed a short demo as you said, but I wanted to release it to get some feeback from a charitable soul like yourself =) in case I was making some fundamental mistakes or things that people wouldn't like at all.
I think the main problem of the game right now is that it is probably too generic. But I'm working on adding variety.

I believe you are correct in most of the points you make, and I will think of a way of having better balance in the battles. I have already added a couple more skills for the two starting characters.

I didn't want to let you "sleep" anywhere since you theoretically only have ONE day to reach the second town.

and.... about the music... that IS rare... I shall have to look into why it doesn't play...

Thank you very much for the pointers! I'll continue working!
Well,i dont know why theres no music, but about the inn,you could make another one after you enter the last town in the demo, but make sure theres an event that opens the inn only after you talk to the guy on the basement of the fighters guild.
First off I want to say I thought it was good, a simple yet effective game please continue to create!

Personally I had no problem with the music, I got music in all of the maps, and sometimes having no music is effective when you are trying to create a mood and you pulled that off good so far.

Furthermore I would say that the fact that the game is generic is working to its advantage, it's like your old fashioned Rpg but more suited to the RPG Maker system. Because after all, we can't all expect to make the next Final Fantasy on RPG Maker XP can we? It's a very self aware game, which is good...

My only problem with it was it was the enemies were a bit unbalanced to the point that it was tough on the player. I think the game would flow more if it were slightly more easier, of course you don't want it to be too easy.

Also I thought you could have named the tavern better (The Screaming Pig)

Like...

The Greedy King
The Emerald Cat
The Black Staff
Etc...

Anyway though, I smell talent, keep it up.

Thank you, Ravenite! You're right about the ambitions of this game. It's my first game, so I decided to keep it simple and learn some tricks of the trade. Perhaps after I finish this I can make some more ambitious sequels (Mages Guild, anyone? haha).

About the enemies balancing, you're correct (and anyon175 before you has already expressed that concern... that of the enemies being too tough)... Thanks for pointing that out. I intend to correct it in the 2nd demo (Which hopefully will be released in the first ten days of august, I'm dealing with final exams at the university right now).

And about the tavern name... I drew inspiration from the names of the taverns in The Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall, and its sometimes funny tavern names. It's by no means definite, though.

So, anyway... Thanks for the comments! They're always encouraging in order to keep up with the work.
I have to say, I downloaded the game today and it looks spectacular! Your mapping is incredible, and the story is pretty good. I have to say, if it's your first game.... AMAZING much better then my first attempt. If it's not your first game, it is still really good. (I'm especially impressed with the mapping)

Thanks, Everguard! You're very nice. It's my first game in RMXP... I used to practice a lot back in the RPG Maker 2000 days... I hope to keep improving.
Glad you liked it... Feel free to comment on anything you wish in the blog post concerning the demo.
Say, what script did you use for the quest log? It'd be good to know for my current project (maybe) or maybe even future projects.

Thanks! Please tell me your impressions in the blog post if you feel like it, whenever you have time.
Downloaded and played through the first 10 minutes or so. I have to say the mapping is SEXY so far.

I'll play some more later and let you know what I think. Your game has a lot of similarities to the one I'm making, so it'll be interesting to see how the rest of this goes...
Thanks for the comment!

We hope you enjoy the rest of your playing time.
