Release something?

In light of the new 'Release Something' event happening, I've gone back to take another look at Amulet of Fate. I haven't touched it in almost a year while working on my Mega Man game and now that I've gone back to it, I'm trying to sift through all the code to figure out how I did everything. And to see the vast scope of what I've done, try to figure it out and see the multitude of other things I have left to do, I'm getting a bit discouraged. The drive I once had to make this epic open-ended RPG is gone. But there is simply too much work that was done on it to just throw it away. I'm not sure what I should do.
I have well over 400+ maps and a ton of content already in there and loads more planned. I guess I could finish up the final maps of Vorindae Fortress and wrap up Terraco Caves, in which case all world maps would be finished OUTSIDE of what would be the final 'point of no return' area with the final bosses, which would also serve as the maps for the intro sequence of the game. (like book ends!)
However, in terms of actual story and gameplay content, there is very little there. The most you'd do is start off at the Alur'Rang Inn, have a bunch of random PCs wandering around waiting for you to recruit them into your party and you just go off wandering the vast world I created, fighting monsters and finding loot. All shops are intact and functioning, so upgrading and getting stronger is viable in this version. But no real story points of note or quests to really explore yet. My goal was to originally complete all maps first, then fill in quest/story/NPC events later. There are some nice summons to find, beat and acquire, but those are the highlights. If anything, if I were to 'release' something, it would basically be a very early, alpha build 0.000001 or something.
What do you think? Should I finish up Vorindae and Terraco and just release it by this coming Friday as a limited alpha download for comments and input?

I've been waiting for this game to go live forever now, so as a self-centered consumer, I'd say go for the alpha release. Just make sure to stress at multiple points that this is indeed an alpha build and not the final product so that the feedback won't have a permanent effect on the reception of your game (I've been there before).

Of course, if for whatever reason you don't feel comfortable with this, hold off.

I'd say do it. Having a open-ended, exploration-thon sounds like a nice change of pace. You can allwayes add in the epic story later, and besides you might as well put those 400+ to some use rather than having the project languish on you computer.
