The year is 2011, and a terrible infection has spread across the United States.

The infection was airbourne as well as highly contagious. Symptoms were similar to the flu, including high fevers, vomiting, coughing, as well as a general weakening of the immune system. Due to this epidemic, the US began to collapse. Hospitals were overrun with infected patients, plants and livestock began to perish, which led to the economy's failure. All of the military bases were facing difficulties trying to quarantine the disease, even failing to stop the infection from spreading within their own ranks. There seemed to be no answer, and no cure...

But the worst was yet to come.

It was roughly a week before those who were unfortunate enough to become infected began to show enormous amounts of hostility to family, freinds, and strangers alike. This single infection brought down the entire USA from the inside, as its own citizens were murdering each other out of an unexplained rage.

It's been four weeks since the infection began. Those who were neither killed nor infected have held out and survived in shelters in cities, towns, and rural areas using any means necessary.

Now, follow the story of two survivors as they attempt to survive Hell on Earth.

Infection Download UPDATE! (Chapter 2 DEMO INCLUDED!)

Hello my fellow zombie and horror lovers! I'm pleased to announce with the current update to the Infection download(with many fixes and added surprises to Chapter One) I'll be including a short version of Chapter Two for those interested in seeing the newest content as well as those new to the game, having the option of continuing onward in the game.
The new content isn't long, but I decided to add it in with the update and it has a stopping point that'll return you to the title screen like Chapter One did.

I haven't made it compatible with older save files, but I do plan too when it's half-way finished of finished. I'm only including it because of the update to Chapter One, and I thought why not?

So, for those that have already played and beaten Chapter One, feel free to wait for a separate download file and possibly the completed version. But for those that don't mind going through Chapter One again, it does have many fixes, updates and even some added content, such as items and a few new(small) areas.

I'll be uploading the download shortly, and it will only be a matter of time before it's open to download.
As always I try to ensure that I got the big bugs and make the game RTP-independent. But for those that find anything, please contact me via message or on the gamepage.

I haven't had much time to work on Infection, with the new job and everything as I would have liked to, but I'm proud that it's still going strong and in the works.
I appreciate all your support and love all my fans and those who give this game the time of day.

We've hit the 1000+ download mark recently and that overwhelms me with joy and I hope to see it grow further in the future!

Best of luck to you all, my fellow survivalists! :)

this is like the millionth time i've seen this on the frontpage.

haha, I knew someone was going to say something.
not like it's my fault it goes on the frontpage when I update it.
so, calm down.
Wouldn't it be nice to blog about the updates so we know what's new to the version?
Well, recently I've been fixing things like mapping errors and adding music/sound effects where I didn't have any, and or didn't like/fit.
I like to keep my download updated frequently, but I just don't feel it's necessary to post blogs for it all the time.
I did it in the past, but they usually just get stagnant and out-dated quickly anyways.

I'll start leaving comments though for the bigger changes like I did recently.
I can't read anything. How do i fix this

You'll need the Rm2k Font Patch!
http://www.rpgrevolution.com/download/rpg-maker-2000-fonts_21.html

Just extract the fonts into your C:\Windows\Fonts folder and it should work!
My download used to have the fonts, but I guess I forgot to add them for the recent updates.

You're welcome!
I hope you enjoy it. :)
It isn't too long yet, just a demo with no visible cut-off point, so just keep that in mind!
Quick update!
I've just added an updated version of Infection, has two more missions available, new enemies, weapons, items, and did some general balancing as I went with adding new things.
For those interested, enjoy!

Does it work without the rtp yet? :P

EDIT: Also does it still have that installer?
It still needs the rtp, yes!
Been too much of a hassle to get it right without messing up.

And yes again, it still have *that* installer, haha.
You don't like it? :o

I can't say I'm a fan of the installer nar :P But it's not too much of a bother. I have the rm2k rtp installed now actually so maybe it'll work! /me downloads again.

EDIT: Also, downloading "infection.exe" just feels so wrong :P
I personally like the installer, he has been faithful! :P
yeeeah, infection.exe isn't the greatest sounding thing to download on the web, i'll admit lol.

Hopefully it works for ya! :)

Just finished the demo! (I think?)

Can't seem to find any more missions. FUCK ME MAN. Nearly every mission I'm scrambling back to the safe-zone with 1hp. One time I'm running away with 1hp, and I get into a blowfly encounter two tiles before the safe-zone (luckily I escaped successfully first time otherwise I'd have been killed by them).

Also I'm not missing something am I? There's no full-heal "inn" or "save point restoration" thing in the game, right? And I can't enter the building in the safe zone.

If you want me to give a detailed blow-by-blow of what I thought then I can, also PM me if you're online now, I have something to discussss.

Oh and btw.. It was fun!
Haha, that's a crazy screenshot to see. :']
And no, there isn't any inns or safe point full heals, those seem to take away from the "survival" aspect I'm going for.
There are 8 missions in total, btw! So you probably did do them all, it doesn't take *too* long.

I'd love a blow-by-blow! I'll PM you shortly...

Also, thanks I'm glad you had fun! :D

finihed the demo, a bit disappointed. i preferred the first version and by the way where is it ?
Sorry it wasn't what you expected chana. :(
I'm so surprised to hear someone actually liked the first version better, haha. but that's cool too.

I took the original down, but I can send it to you in PM if you want.
I'm sure it had some updates before I took it down.

thanks, that would be nice! Sorry for the disappointment but compared to that first version : where is the atmosphere, the picturesque details, the story, the almost immediate plunge in the situation, and the difficult fight you have to lead, without too many clues, to survive ? if you see what i mean ?
By the way, what made you cancel the first version, seems, if i look at the posts, every one really liked, or loved it !?
Don't worry about the story! I just haven't implemented it yet into the demo. :)
I totally get what you mean though, but I, as the developer felt it lacked in areas that I could do better on.

But who knows, maybe down the road I'll just work on it some more to where I'm pleased with it and release it again.
and tbh, I think the newer version is more professional in a sense, as the original version was my first RPG maker game ever and I didn't know much about variables and all that fun stuff.

Thanks for the support though, of any kind, it's always appreciated to hear nice things about your games.
I'll go through the original and maybe do some stuff to it and I'll send it your way! :D

So it was your first game and of course it could have been bettered in many ways, but, as simple as it was (or looked?) it turned out to be really fun, original and catching, not bad for a first shot! and isn't that what every game tries to be, even the more sophisticated ones?!!
i'd be happy to have the original especially if you add some stuff to it, thanks!

The game seems intriguing (who doesn't like an RPG that has you fighting off hordes of the undead), but it feels very unbalanced at the moment.

First, it's a very tedious task only being able to purchase one item at a time, so if you wish to purchase multiples of the same item, you'll be there awhile. Second, almost every time the flies (or whatever they are) battle me, I get struck with disease. There appears to be no way to defend against this and no way to stop the disease once I have it, aside from buying the medical packs, and as enemies drop very little amounts of SP not only will I be going back and forth quite a bit, but wasting too much money to heal myself.

Aside from that, the mapping was okay, but like I said, fighting hordes of the undead RPG style is fun, so kudos to the rest of the game.
