Episode 1 - Exiled

Story
"It is a dark time for the land of Xenith.
The conflict between Vampire and Werewolf
that has raged on for more than millennia has finally spilt over involving humans.
Those who are caught within its wake suffer its consequences, as the innocent are killed or worse, turned to aid either side.
Although this tragedy plagues the people, an even greater threat has risen.
The demonic being known solely as Estro, threatens the land by building a Hell Gate to bring forth
his demonic brethren to conquer all.
All seemed lost until a ancient prophecy was discovered, foretelling of these events. That a being will come forth and stop Estro and his demonic horde, and bring forth light once again to the land. Searching desperately, whether for good or to destroy them, the search led to one boy, a Vampire Hunter..."

Due to the negative comments on my previously released demo, I decided to go back and work on this, feeling I could make it better. I have actually went back and reworked the title, dialogue, and tweaked/fixed a lot of known bugs, and polished the maps. Looking back I greatly improved on a lot of my skills especially with mapping, using variables and common events. I am quite proud of my progress on my skills improving, although I know I still got a long way to go. Anyway that's enough rambling on to the features.

Features hopefully to Include in the game:
Reputation/Alignment System - Where whether your good or evil will change the way NPC's interact with you and possibility the ending.

Action Battle System - Control your attacks, which will include magik and Bows/Crossbows.

Vampire Feed System - Hey your a vampire and you like need to eat. Hunt your prey and avoid getting caught...choose to kill or let them live which will alter your alignment accordingly. Or you can be a bitch and buy vials of blood O_o which does nothing.

Soul Absorption - Certain bosses after you defeat them, you have the choice whether or not to absorb a special ability they may have. which could also modify your alignment (though not 100% i want to add this yet)

Quest System - Complete side quests to obtain extra exp and rewards!

Puzzles - complete puzzles to obtain items and progress through the game.

Plugins/Patches used or being planned for use for game development/enhancement:
DynRPG Plugins: particle effects and A* path-finding.
Goliath overdrive patch

A lot of the terminology/history/lore is taken from the Vampire - masquerade/bloodlines and soul revear pc/ps2 games with my own added twist used in my forum rpg.

Minor Update and The road to the demo...

Right now I am developing the maps up to the very first dungeon. I have them mostly complete, except for the dungeon, 2 battle areas and a couple of houses that need to have indoor maps done.

After all of that I still have to work on populating the maps and add appropriate lighting to them. Then the more difficult part is to set up the Npc's to react based on your actions in quests and how you handle them. but I think it will be worth it.

Finally, the quest system. I am currently setting up quests as follows:
Some quests will be geared to Good alignment, Evil alignment, and some will even be generic quests that are neutral. And as I am sure you guessed, the alignment quests will effect your overall alignment. The plan is at certain levels of alignment, your characters appearance will change in accordance to your alignment and npc's will react based on that.
I mean come on, would you offer some demonic looking dude a cookie?...I mean I probably would, but I mean would a normal person do that? Don't think so :D.

This sounds like a pretty decent game, just keep working at it and get that new and improved demo out!
Thanks for the comment! :) And yes just as soon I my spriter finishes the sprite I need to finish the demo I will release one. If I don't hear from him soon I will probably just attempt to finish the sprite myself O_o.

Yea I am, I take criticism well as long as it's constructive and not just to be an asshole. But I went ahead an fixed those mistakes, thanks for pointing them out :). After I get further I got a couple people who will play-test, and one of them is a writer so that will help a whole lot ^_^. I fix what see, but I play-tested it so many times, sometimes a fresh pair of eyes can see what I may have missed after the 50th time I went through it lol.

I am hoping to include a good portion of them, as of right now it will include at least the battle system in the demo. If I get some people wishing to see certain features in the demo, I will try my best to implement them. But as of right now I am currently developing ideas on a couple of them, specifically the vampire feeding system and then a CMS. But I am hoping to at least include them in the demo, we'll see.

Well thanks for both of your input appreciate it! And I am always open to suggestions and tips. I am not entirely new to rm2k3, but for this game I am trying different things I haven't tried before, so there's always room for improvement hehe

I've always liked the reputation feature in any game, allows for good replay value.
So even in a lesser form I would love to see that.
The feeding system also sounds neat.
Would you ever consider being able to turn a victim to your cause? (non-storyline wise)
Maybe like a skill that you're able to use people that you have bitten in combat, like underlings, or a pet system.

I haven't give much thought of that except I having an idea running around in my head to have a skill, like say "mesmerize" where you target a npc to fight for you. But that might be something for a sequel in like say XP or VX where scripting is possible, I wouldn't really know how to implement it in 2mk3. The Feed system is mainly just to get blood to stay alive and use some of your vamperic powers. The original idea was that and your able to choose either between killing them getting the full amount of blood provided, XP and a darker alignment or spare them getting less blood, no XP, and lighter alignment. Since the plan is some powers need either a darker alignment to use or upgrade to a certain level.

I know how to do that with 2k3: When the mesmerize skill hits the target, use a switch to activate a second page for the target where it will move toward other enemies and attack them. Use some parallel location detection events for every enemy including the target for movement, attack time and hit detection.
You could also put a parallel timer that will cancel the skill's effects after a short time.
That's a pretty good idea for a skill actually. It's the same as having an ally in action battle systems, which is quite easy to do.

Well it does have a ABS system in case you didn't know. But yea I will have to further look into that.

That is good to hear :) Like I stated in my blog I am trying to get things to where I can release a tech demo, featuring my cms, abs, and a few other features. Mainly to get feedback and advice where I might need to improve. But I just recently graduated from college and managed to land a job and until I am able to move, I have to drive an hour to and from work. So right now that is taking up most of my time. Hopefully soon i will get settled in my new job and moved so I will have more time to work on this.

But I am plugging at it little by little getting this and that tweaked/completed and I just recently had someone offer to do a couple songs for me. So Hopefully I will have something to show in releasing the demo sometime soon. But just to let my subscribers know, I am still working on this...just slowly...lol
Um, I think you may want "your very soul" instead of "you're very soul" in the tagline for this. Otherwise, that's looking like a pretty nice list of features.
