Backstory
Take on the role of Marcus, an aging war veteran who awakens under peculiar circumstances... he has joined the ranks of the undead! Battle your way through a gothic necropolis of skeletons, vampires, and werewolves to unravel the mystery behind your undead condition. This RPG will feature a unique turn-based battle system, character customization to fit your play-style, and handmade retro NES-style graphics. Fight against your dark fate, restore your humanity, and take vengeance upon the creatures of the night!

The future of Necropolis:

You may have noticed that I've recently changed the game status to canceled. This is only true for the RPG Maker version of Necropolis, which I'll leave on RMN for at least the near-term. While it might sound strange, I think I can reach a larger audience if Necropolis becomes a commercial product, so that is my current intention.

To reach this goal, Necropolis production has migrated to MonoGame/XNA and is being re-built from the ground up. Initial target platform is the PC but MonoGame is very portable so other platforms are likely if the PC version is successful.

This does add a lot of development time, but it is also an opportunity to re-evaluate everything about the original version. A lot of sweeping changes have been made to the mechanics and structure based on feedback and also my own hindsight--changes that were either tedious or very difficult to do in RM2K3.

At some point I may post a breakdown of these changes. However, they'll be posted at my new blog rather than on RMN. Given the (appropriate and correct, IMO) policy RMN has on commercial games, I have recently started a Wordpress site. It is still in its infancy as I have zero experience in web design, html, CSS, etc; but it will come along in time. Below is the new blog, for those who are interested:

No. I could but it'd require a lot of manual labor though, because you can't generate events or pictures in RM2000 (or better yet, give you direct access to the map data).

Basically it just uses a flood algorithm to identify what a room is. The image below shows the tile metadata that's used to identify room boundaries. The metadata isn't something I have to draw by hand in the map editor--rather it is attached to specific tiles automatically.

I haven't worked on squat since early January. I got too absorbed in too many video games, as I typically do. The last thing I did was some fog-of-war style thing, for lack of a better term. Basically it renders rooms when you enter them for the first time, and after that it renders inactive-but-explored rooms in dark grayscale. Like this:

Wow this game is addictive. I like this so much and so much pro tutorials here.
Very atmospheric and playable and lifefull dialogs and jokes i like this one veeeeery much - combos in battle system cool idea.

I think this is a good idea. You will be able to reach more players this way, and you basically already have your assets finished.

Maybe instead of being "cancelled", it should be on hiatus?

Of all the reasons to make a blog, this is surely one of them haha Just look at the confusion.
I'm looking forward to hearing the reason for the switch.
Too many limitations in RPGMaker2k3? Is this project going commercial now? Maybe he just wants to switch to MonoGame the same way other people are switching to VX Ace?
All those who are panicking, please relax! Jude has stated (in the previous page) that it's been moved to another platform, which is MonoGame...so it's cancelled only in the RPG Maker sense, that is.
Augh. Back to square one.

This version of Necropolis has been one of the best rpgmaker games I've ever played. If MonoGame lets you go commercial with this (and therefore gives a hearty push towards finishing it,) I'm behind this change 100%. But it's still a lot of extra dev-time.
