So yeah, here it is, my first (Pretty half-assed) fully finished RPG maker project.
Retro Quest is a game designed to be reminiscent of old Gameboy RPGs such as Final Fantasy Legend, with poor dialogue and generic story-writing for that old unfinished feeling games used to have.
---- Story ----
Retro Quest follows a generic hero character - aptly named 'Hero' - as he journeys into a castle to save a princess from dark forces that have taken over.
Can YOU save the princess?
---- Gameplay ----
Retro Quest uses a basic ATB battle system, but with the perspective of games such as 'Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest. The game all takes place inside one area (The castle) and is linear in gameplay style. It contains bosses, treasure chests, secrets, secret bosses, and all other things you'd expect from an RPG. On the subject of secrets, there are 28 'big' secrets to find in the game. Can you find them all?
There are two different types of abilities; Sword Art and Magic. Sword Arts are gained naturally through leveling, while Magic must be learnt through the use of Books found via shops, enemy drops, or treasure chests.
Retro Quest contains around 1-2 hours of game time, with an hour or two extra in New Game+ mode once you complete the game, unlocking a large new dungeon, and the chance to fight a secret superboss.
