I tried putting a panorama of simple 'galaxy'-esque stars behind this, but it looked CRAP. I'm going to try some higher-quality backgrounds, but any suggestions? Does it look okay with the black background? I could add sparkles like in the Overlord's Castle :B

I would suggest a two-toned background... two tones that aren't too bright and not too far apart from each other in color. Maybe some sort of floral pattern to match the naturey feel the game already has.

I know it's very me-ish, but how would something like this work?

Also, JPEG images tend to appear grainier than PNGs.Never save images as JPEGs. Not even if someone is holding a gun to your head.

I REALLY like that (and lack the imagery skills to produce it. Yay old-school pixel art done by hand.) and will gladly use something pretty much exactly like that if you allow me to rip it from you. Mwahahaha. I did like the idea of the person's sprite standing next to them (or in this instance of spacing, above them) and becoming animated when you have the selection cursor hovering over that person.
