There's actually a very valid reason for this. Vampires don't feel emotions the same way we do (they have about half the emotional capacity as we do, so it would take twice as much for them to feel the same). This applies to sexual pleasure as well. Additionally, vampires (for the most part- very, very, very rarely, a male vampire will retain fertility) lack the ability to procreate, so there's less motivation to pursue the opposite sex. Generally, vampires of the same sex will consent to similar things (vampire sex is very violent and aggressive- most human sexual partners end up dead, so consent is absolutely necessary) so they're more likely to end up with gay sex in an attempt to fulfil each member's desires enough to reach peak pleasure.
Not to say there aren't heterosexual vampires, of course. Most vampires under the age of seventy won't even go near the same sex (look at the era they're living in!). But once they get a bit older and less confined to the rules set by society when they were human, they'll branch out. There are also a high number who'll swing both ways.

And, when Sidian expresses this, majority of the party are highly disgusted and appalled.
(Sidian is a vampirologist and just doesn't give an f- about much anyway.)
But if the vampires use all of it, then what will us humans do? =(
^ Humans are just miserable little piles of secrets anyway.

huzzah gay vampire luvin'.
Honestly, I'd expect vampires to be slightly more harknessian than gay, but that's still a solid explanation. I mean, immortality + emotional dampening = goodbye inhibitions, hello experimentation, but unless gay lovin' is the best and craziest of all types of lovin' (I'm not saying it's not, but any debate on the subject can only be subjective,) I would imagine there's probably more diversity to vampire relationships than to human ones in a victorian society.

Congratulations on making a reference so obscurely that even somebody who has watched (at least a series) of Torchwood had to attempt to look it up before going.. "Oh shit, derp"

iirc in the first/second episode that one chick says: "I think he'll sleep with anything so long as it's gorgeous enough" I always thought that was an "edgy-for-the-bbc" line.

Crap. Sorry about that, NB.

._. Sorry, I didn't mean that to come across as scathingly as it sounds. I was more like "derp" at the fact I didn't get the reference despite having seen a whole series :P

No worries. I couldn't tell whether that was meant to be critical or not, so I covered my bases just in case.

In other news, I can't read the phrase 'all the gay' without this song starting up in my head.

I'm sorry in advance.
