The continent of Tairngire, E.C 759.

But the respite has been brief compared to early days, and a shadow of unease begins to steal over Tairgire once again.

Regrets and Desires

*peeks head in to check no-one is around, then sneaks in*

Wow... it feels almost alien for me to sit down and write another blog (No. 198 as of writing). Not to mention the last blog for this game was written more than two years ago. And because Icebound is still pending, I'll probably just write the blog here.

So you'd probably be asking me why I'm writing another piece for a game that was completed in November 2014?

Well, thing is... The commercial evil is calling out to me. Like most hobbyists, I do dream about making a full-time living out of doing something I love so I can quit my dreary, soul-sucking 8-5 job.

It can seriously stifle the creative spirit and probably one of the reasons why my game-dev passion just vanished a few years ago. But now, having reached the ripe old age of 30 and forever leaving my twenties behind, I figured that:

1) I can't take life too seriously (most of my games have been pretty serious)
2) Let go of past grudges and
3) It is about high-time I decided to make the life I want to live and not be slave to a dreary job where getting a double bonus at the end of the year makes it bearable (it isn't).

I've also decided to buck-up on my art skills so that when I do go commercial one day, I can at least save myself a few hundred bucks by not hiring an artist. zero-project's (my music-muse) music is free for all commercial work, so that's one less problem to worry about.

Hello Laine, my old friend.

I'm also feeling a bit overwhelmed at trying to familiarise myself with MV. The engine has enormous potential, but all these plug-ins... Yanfly is seriously on a roll. To someone who has been using VX since late 2010-early 2011, to me it feels like the equivalent of going from paddling around in a baby pool, to diving off the 10-metre springboard. But I know it will pay off in the long-term. But I'll probably end up making a few short games in MV before taking this huge step.

It's exciting, but also terrifying at the same time. I need to let go of my innermost fears and just release all that pent-up creative energy. What is my innermost fears, you ask?

Well...

It is the fear of failure. Also, the fear of letting down people who expect great things from you, who expect you to be at the top of your game no matter what. But worst of all, for me at least, is when someone (whether in real life or on the internet) expresses immense disappointment in you. That... has always struck me hard and always sits like a lead balloon in my chest.

As to what happened about a year-and a half ago...

I regret it, and bitterly. I lost a few good friends that day, and I still it to this day. Every time I thought about RMN during my hiatus, that was the first incident I thought of. But I guess I'll have to learn to live with it.

So, here's to a better and more productive 2018! No more fears, no more past regrets, and no more looking back.

This is Luchi, who is now officially back from the dead, signing out.
Blog No. 198 written.

Also, the blog title is totally not a reference to an episode in Granblue.

I noticed you tend to frequent RMW more than RMN, so I posted my first round of feedback there. I'll try to get to more of the game soon; depends on the schedule.
Today I downloaded this game on a super old PC (Pentium IV 2.4 Ghz, 1 GB RAM, ATI 9250, and Windows XP SP2 32 Bits).
The game crashed once every 4 or 5 times I tried to access the Save scene. I save like every 3 mins lol, so I guess I played around 15 mins and the game crashed 3 o 4 times, always when accessing the save menu. I don't know, I'll guess it's related to the screenshot plugin, or/and some sort of problem with my old PC.
Anyway it ran at very low fps there, so I'll have to play it on my PC.

But at least I can say the mixture between tints, fogs and mapping looks really good!
@Deckiller: Yeah, I read your feedback over at RMN, and it really got me thinking. Thank you for your insight. I'll take it into consideration for the next release.

@X: I will be releasing a more stable version of the game soon ( hopefully, it will prevent crashes/freezes ).
On character development, and avoiding Mary Sues:

People are a lot more complicated than most people usually think, and not realizing that is going to hurt your ability to create a character from scratch.

Think about what makes a personality. It's not just good/evil, boyish/girlish, pretty/ugly, strong/weak. Those are on the surface, and also boringly simple.

A good character is more complex than that. No one is 100% one or the other on those things.

When making a strong character, that doesn't mean muscles. It means how believable they are to be a person. Think about a best friend that you know very well. You know what they like, what they don't like, what reaction they'd have to certain things, etc. That's what you have to know about your character for them to be well-made. You need to know WHO they are, not WHAT they are. You need to know details that go beyond the surface, and don't make them overwhelmingly one thing.
You mean the bandit's hideout? You'll find it in an abandoned shrine located west of the SangReal Plains.
Thank you very much yuna21, And i have a question, Do you have plans to make Walktrough in the future?
Walkthroughs should be made by players for players x)
Yes thats true but I dont know how to make a walkthroughs, So whis somebody can make a walkthroughs for this game, I whould be very happy
I will probably make a walkthrough in the future, yes. Once I've done with my testing, I'll try to cover as much of the game as possible. It depends how often players get stuck, of course.
OH thats good, Im looking forward to play the next update of this game:-)
I forget the name of the town immediately to the east but that area above it goes completely black when you enter it.
Still struggling with the skills and how to learn and equip.
When I try and heal for example, the moment i click on the spell to use it, almost always it takes me directly to the skills page where you can learn new skills, bypassing completely the ability to heal.
Laine dies pretty easy.
Kroner are worth 1500 but you only get 750. I know usually w3hen you sell something you seel it half the buying price. Butcashing it it still the whole amount but its halved.
Theres a BIG glitch that works to the players favor but I want to see who else has caught it.
At the moment what can I do with 99 skill points?
Theres a bit of learning curve to this game but I like it nonetheless.
Oh and the music is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

Ah yes. I only discovered it after I uploaded the game... ><

Guard/Recover is your friend. :) Once you gain control of her after the main scene, spend her ability points ( which is found under the Status menu ).

Hmm? A glitch hey? What sort of glitch?

At the moment what can I do with 99 skill points?

Nothing at the moment. Most of the Skills cost 300 or more to purchase. You need to fight more battles. There is a side-quest in the first town after you talk to Edgard once you get Patrick.

Theres a bit of learning curve to this game but I like it nonetheless.

Yeah, you can't mash the attack button to win all the time. Exploit enemy weaknesses and the game becomes a piece of cake. Oh, and Guard/Recover if you find yourself in a tight spot. Abuse Patrick's Pharmacology ability ( 200% effectiveness for healing items ). And get Donar II once you get enough skill points. The little guy will wreck stuff.

Oh and the music is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

Yes, I'm pretty chuffed at the soundtrack myself. Took me a loooong time to gather all the music.
If you talk to Krei twice you are stuck! I went back to talk to him because I couldnt find the two knights who are looking for Laine.
Is the demo nearly finished at this point or do I still have some play left?
@Roy: Did you get to the

grave scene where Laine visits Rikard?

After that scene, you can head over to Landen's outskirts where Cillian and Siglud will be waiting for Laine. The demo ends after that scene. It's + -2.5 hours long. But I could say you're nearly done. I blundered somewhere with the switches, that's why the outskirts appears blank. After you gain control after that spoiler scene, it should appear again.
Just a recap on the finalized features for the full game.

- 7+ hours long, depending on how you pace yourself.
- No random encounters.
- Exploit enemy weaknesses to gain victory. Enelysion does not encourage button mashing in the least.
- Customize your characters abilities with skill points earned during battle, or add to their existing set with weapon/armour skills.
- Choose how you want your characters to grow. Want to make Patrick a complete tank? Go ahead. Or Laine a critical machine of death?
- Passive skills allow the player to take this further.
- Undertake a sidequest or two and take a break from the main storyline. Features a Hunt system like Phantasy Star 4 or FF12.
- Optional bosses drop rare and powerful loot.
- Craft various items from the high number of Orbs you find scattered around Tairngire.
- Exchange Golden Doubloons for some nice rewards.
- High-quality soundtrack featuring over 50 tracks.
- Atmospheric, higly detailed maps ( 200+ in total ) which are all done in the editor. Absolutely no parallaxing is used.
I'm not too sure if this is just me or a part of the game, but...

After I went through the introductory scenes, got Patrick in my party, and took the first quest to head south, I went to Forest of Pam. Unfortunately, as I'm going through, I'm running into a problem.

I can't stop dying.

I'm not too sure if I'm in the wrong place or something, but the enemies there keep killing me. This isn't even a matter of exploiting enemy weaknesses right now, sometimes they just attack first and slaughter me before I can even get to the point of exploiting their weaknesses.

I really do hope this is just me. The game looks amazing and I don't wanna raegquit half the time because it's too difficult for me.
Hi, I'm at the point that a guy in a bar gave me three bombs.. I never pay too much attention to names, so I'm a bit lost. Where should I go now?
@Pyro: You can either purchase some Helios/Donar/Nilheim scrolls in Landen. That should help. And Pat's fire spells. It should help. And Guard/Recover.

@Charlie: Are you in Agara...?
Exactly. I have been going back and forth from Camhaill for some leveling up..
