Late b'day update

My first update as a ripe 26-year old.

Progress for Vol II has been a bit slow since I was pretty sick for the last couple of days, but apart from the usual cough, I'll feel as right as rain soon enough. Because my brain is still feeling a bit sluggish, I decided to dedicate some time to making maps rather than writing out cutscenes or doing the bum-numbing databasing ( overhauled the entire thing and did stuff from scratch ).

For all the prettiness, it just isn't enough to make me stand out as a dev...

I am pretty proud of my level-design skills and that the games I make all have a very distinctive look about them. Most people want to know how I get that atmosphere in my games ( and it is pretty bloody good, if I say so myself. Honestly, I just get drawn into the world of Tairngire whenever I put my headphones on and play the game in full-screen ) . Dunno if others feel the same way. I wouldn't know.

Music is my muse, guys. Music. And feedback drives me. Seriously, it does.

Because Enelysion is so steeped in Celtic mythology, I tend to listen to a lot of New Age tracks when designing my maps but most of the time I listen to Enya's early albums. It really gets my creative juices flowing. I wish I could do more with my abilities, but heh, I'm a lone wolf developer. Me against the 10+ team member games here... Which tend to be ridiculously overrated.

But I will come out guns blazing for 2014. I have a goal, after all. >:) And LoTL's getting no love. ;_; ( 77 downloads... Man, that is depressing as hell ).

I downloaded Lady of the Lion a few days ago and am a subscriber to both games. You really do have a knack for creating engaging story lines. The download count will go up over time. The game just needs some exposure.

Just subbed to Lady of the Lion. To be honest, I didn't know it existed until now! I would have subbed a lot sooner. I'll try the demo if I get a chance over break. Btw, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I'll be a quarter century + 1 soon, too... what's it like so far?
Not very different from being a quarter of a century, tbh. XD However, it is only a mere four years away from 30. Now THAT is a scary thought. 0_o
I'm under the quarter~~<3, nana nana.

Happy birthday! Nice maps, I like the colour combinations and the overall ambience ('A')!. And yeah, I agree about the music muse, it really helps to get you into the mood of doing anything. Unless it's something I don't know the lyrics, in which case I'll be totally distracted.

Anyway here goes the cake!

Oh just remembered I suck at ASCII art orz.
Hey Luchi

Congrats on ur birthday. I urge you do not be despondent on the lack of success of your title. There are actually lots of titles that go relatively unplayed and Enelysion is actually quite popular. It has three reviews and quite a few downloads on this site and RMW. There are some fantastic games that only have 50 downloads and no reviews. Just keep making games even if 1 person enjoys them. No need to be depressed just because people don't express huge outbursts of ecstatic joy whenever they catch news of ur game.

Also, your maps are unique but there are also tons of people that make great maps as well. Not many games are made with 10+ members, and also don't be against those games. We're all on the same team here.

That said, keep making games and I enjoy looking at your maps. Happy birthday.
Ah, I'll bear that knowledge in mind then, benny. =) Wise words. Because the last thing I want to do is do a shameless plug and force my game into people's faces ( not for Enelysion, mind It's been on this site for 2.5 years, after all. =) ).
Keep up the good work Luchino you are a fantastic developer and I am excited about all your projects even if I haven't finished them all yet. I'm 1 hour through Enelysion. :)

Happy belated B-day! Here from somebody who's over a quarter and a half (hint: actually over 0.6, which means I'm already over the hill, ready for the rot ;P ...). Anyway, I do hope to get eventually around to play your games and give you some feedback on them.

Regarding Enya, I don't know whether you knew she had some holiday songs, that you can listen to here:

Enya X-mas Songs

I actually just heard one of hers within last couple of weeks on the radio and I thought you might enjoy listening to them, even if they do song vaguely like Orinoco Flow and Sweet November tinged.
Ah, yes. I have heard a couple of those tracks already. =) I really love her style. Really gets me into a gam-mak mood when working on Enelysion ( at least, when mapping ).

EDIT: I was thinking, should I password protect Vol II? Because it has a TON of spoilers for Vol I within the first fifteen minutes. It picks up immediately where Vol I leaves off. Just in-case some poor sod plays Vol II before Vol I ( and it WILL happen ) and the answer would be hinted in Vol I ( but only if you've played around 90% or so of the game ).
