Okay. This would be the... second time this whole thing has exploded. Man, with this much contraversy, I bet I could sell this game based on pure hate alone.

Instead, I guess I should say, AAV's cancelled. Haven't worked on it in almost a year now, and definitely don't got any plans to. If I ever do, I would probably scrap this whole game and make it in VX or something.

Buuuuuuut, that's not gonna happen, and it's not happening in 2k3 either as far as I can tell. In fact, I've already deleted all the tools I would need to make this with, so there's no turning back. I guess I better just take down that download, cause it is NOT doing the series any favors. Alright, it's gone now.

But yes, as you guys might've guessed, I've pretty much given up game-making and have moved on with my life. I still lurk here once in a while to see what's going on with some of my buds, but I really don't have much to say anymore other than cheap one-liners that would make Leon Scott Kennedy proud.

It's been a good run, guys. Thanks a lot to everyone who supported and defended my actions to naysayers. Thanks a little bit to naysayers who ensured that this series was never too long without drama or contraversy. Good luck to any of you still in the games race. As for me, I'm officially retired.

Saddening news, but I guess in the end, if it has to happen, then it has to happen. I for one thoroughly enjoyed what was released so far.
And thus passes another excellent dev from the scene.

I've really enjoyed what I've played of AA:G. Sad to see you go, Neok.

WHOA wow wow. two tails? that is a sexy idea...

this is the RTP generation old friend. it is a good time to retire.
No worries, Neok. No point continuing when you have already pretty much lost interest in it, anyway. I can understand it was like hell, so moving on, I think, is indeed a good thing.

But hey, do keep in touch, and do update us on what you're doing in life! Alter Aila and Alter Aila Genesis will definitely still remain as one of the most memorable RPG Maker RPGs there ever existed :)
Sorry you feel that way. :( Ah well. Best of luck, we'll miss you.

...Would it be too much to ask for a plot summary of the rest of Variant?
Well, I can't say that wasn't unexpected, but still, I am glad to have played AA, AAG and that little part of AAV before the end.
We'll miss you Neok.

This! There is still a huge cliffhanger that needs a lot of explanations,Neok, you know?:p
Very sorry to hear that, your games are some of the best rpgmaker games I have played.

Any plans to work on the comic, still? I'm sure there are many many people who would still be very interested in seeing that.
Sorry to hear this news, Neok. I was looking forward to AAV, but if your heart isn't in it anymore, you made the correct decision. I thoroughly enjoyed AAG and your talent will always live on through that masterpiece.

Hopefully, this doesn't mean you are completely leaving the scene. Will you still be willing to comment, review, or test/give advice to novice developers such as myself?
Thanks, guys. Glad to see you're not all pouncing on me for giving it up. I'm not really around that often anymore, but I do stop by once in a while to see what's going on.

I'd really rather not, just cause stories are really meant to be experienced, not summarized. If it's just the cliffhanger though, I can divulge that much.

At the point where the demo originally ended, Celia, Indy's "younger sis" was just about to have her life force sucked out to fuel the Monolith Cathedral's cannon, which was currently being aimed at Admin Central. Indy is caught in a terrible situation where she has to choose between letting the cannon destroy Admin Central, where her foster-father Leon is currently being held, and killing Celia, which would stop the cannon, and save Leon's life. At the end of the demo, the Monolith Cathedral suddenly powers down, but doesn't show what happened between Celia and Indy to cause it. Hence the cliffhanger.

When the scene returns to the two of them, Indy would be standing there, crying. I probably wouldn't have shown exactly what happened to Celia, but the blood spilling out from her crystal prison would've said everything I needed to. After that, everyone would catch up, only to find this scene laid out before them. Suffice to say, it's a pretty depressing scene.

Indy starts feeling something strange. She becomes short of breath, unable to speak or even stand properly. When Stiver goes to see what's wrong with her, she suddenly screams, emitting a black hole (think of her second EX ability that she used on Aila at the end of AAG). This one rages out of control, sucking up everything around her. Stiver, at point blank, gets killed immediately. Sierra and Remy manage to get away, where they see X and Devil. Devil states that this was his plan all along, to force Indy into such an erratic state that she would not be able to control her psychokinesis. So something suspicious here, would be how Devil knew about Indy's power, and why he would want it to activate like this.

The black hole continues to expand. Sierra and Remy get away, but honestly, there's really no stopping a black hole once it gets started. All that's really left is to wait as it slowly expands, destroying the city, and eventually the world.

The above is ending 1, which is what would've happened if you hadn't done a certain something before defeating X in phase 5.

But if you did, then this part would play out differently. Instead of Indy crying, it'll show Celia being broken free from her crystal prison. Indy catches her in her arms. Celia's alive, but unconscious by this point, and we get a brief glimpse of Indy's eyes: light blue.

Everyone catches up like before. This time everyone's alive. X and Devil show up. Devil laments that something outside his calculations occur, and they both leave. Stiver notices that something's wrong with Indy, and asks her about it. At this point, her eyes have returned to their normal color. But she realizes that something might be taking over her body and existence.

The game would continue as normal from there.

And that's about it. I guess I might just be switching one big cliff-hanger for a less big one. But there you go. Bottom line is, poor Indy just doesn't get a break.

No plans, unfortunately. I actually don't think there's that much interest in seeing this, since the audience here is mostly into playing games. I'm thinking of re-routing a lot of the story for AAV into other projects of mine (not game-related unfortunately).

Hah, well the first thing I'll say is don't use RPG Maker 2003. To be honest, even if I have given up game-making, that doesn't mean I've given up creative projects altogether. I'm definitely still really busy though, so I don't really have time to 'mentor' anyone, I guess. If you just want someone to bounce questions/ideas off of, I don't mind giving my input. But I'll probably balk at doing full-up testing/reviews. Just not enough free time in my life for that now.

So, I haven't played this at all, but I just have to know once and for all...

Was the guy in the mask Scott? Come on, you can tell me! :D

You can tell me in PM if you'd prefer no one else know!

I want to know this too :O
@Solitayre:
I fail to see how Devil (the masked guy) could be Scott. Even if he somehow managed to survive the ending of AAG (probably with some help by Timber), he would have had a difficult time leaving his homeworld, since AAV takes place on a different planet!

Rather, I belive we should ask ourselves another question:how on Earth has Devil managed to create clones owithin the prisonf Violet? Is he somehow connected to the Orbital Prison in AAG? A lot of stuff that can be seen inside that floating ring is left unexplained, so there might be a correletion with the events of AAV.

I'd also like to know...
Who is Kirin?:D
You gave us not one, but two of the most complete sci fi rpg games made with RM. Sure there's also "A Blurred Line" but that game was only halfway finished. It's sad that we'll never have a finished AAV, but I'm content with going back into both of copies of the original (Alter A.I.L.A.) and AAG.

If 2K3 ever gets an official English release, AAG is one game I'd vote to see ported for commercial.

Edit: This realization is making me want to at least go back and replay the first two games.
Yeah, I keep wondering

where that Scott = Devil theory comes from. Granted I guess I could've confungle together some kind of scenario that would've made it possible, but it would've been reaaaaaaally stretching.

As for Datau's second question

Kirin is a surprise 7th character that never actually got to make an appearance because I stopped working on it.

Thanks Amerk. I don't know if I'd want AAG to go commercial (at least, not without some major rehauls). But I appreciate it.
