--STORY--
December 24, 1997
Manhattan

-----
During an opera performance, several members of the audience become engulfed in flames. All except for one, an NYPD Officer named Aya Brea.

This incident is only the first of many, which altogether become the worst incident in the history of New York City.

6 Days of Pure Terror.

-----
November, 2000
Los Angeles

Having left the NYPD, Aya Brea joined an Anti-NMC group called M.I.S.T., who were in charge of eliminating the few remaining Neo-Mitochondrion Creatures roaming the country.

During an investigation of the Akropolis Tower, Aya begins to realize that there is more going on than what was previously known...

--INFORMATION--

Parasite Eve: Reboot is a semi-full remake of the first two games of the PE franchise. It will feature many of the same surprises and thrills that the originals had to offer!

--FEATURES--

ADDED FEATURES:
-Changed to an Action Battle System
-Take screenshots with F5
-BP Vendors will be placed in random spots around the the game
-Storage systems will be placed in various places too

SIMILARITIES:
-Relive the classics with original PE/PE2 music straight from the OST
-Those useless good luck charms from PE1? Now they've got some kick!
-Most enemies and bosses will return
-Same plot as the original, with the same dialogue.

PLANNED FEATURES:
-Remake of Chrysler Bldg.
-New weapons to use and enemies to take on as you fight your way through both classics
-New Parasite Energies to uncover and take control of
-Understand the flow of the story with a bridge between the first two games AND a possible small bit of story leading to the events of The 3rd Birthday!

-----
Note: this is not a full remake, therefore, many of the weapons and items obtained in each game will not be there, but will be replaced with new ones or not replaced at all. Many PE1 items (Cure-D, Healing 2, etc.) are replaced with PE2 items (Stim, Recovery2, etc.) I am still in DIRE need of resources, mainly enemies and tiles, so hopefully I will get some help with that.

Recruiting Enemy Spriters

Before I say anything: please don't ask me to Google or look around for resources.
I've looked for suitable enemy sprites, but I can't find anything that would suit this game well.

I need to recruit a few spriters who are ready and willing to create sprites for some of the game's enemies. I have pictures of the enemies I need to be sprited, and it would be greatly helpful. If I could sprite, I'd do some of it, but I can't sprite worth crap :P.

The sprites have to be like a normal character sprite set, with all 4 directions and walking animations (if it wasn't already obvious). They can be small or large depending on the enemy you choose to sprite, but try not to make it TOO small or TOO large.

The enemies I need are as follows:
>Rat - have the image - sprites I currently have aren't scary or big enough
>Parrot - have the image - sprites I chose are too big and bulky
>Frog - have the image - currently placehold with tadpoles
>Alligator (1st boss) - have the image - is NOT a regular alligator
>Eve - have the image - if you could do multiple forms of her, that'd be great, but they aren't needed ATM...
>Snake - have the image - actually ill use any snake sprite for this
>Spider - have the image - same as above
>Chameleon - have the image - haven't seen this sprite anywhere, not like normal lizard.

Note: I do not want regular sprites of these. I feel that having stuff like a small green frog jumping around wouldn't be as menacing as a large, grimy looking one. So please don't redirect me to an image of a regular bird or whatever, cause they wouldn't fit this game's these very much.

So if you're up to doing one of these, Ill send you the image.
---------------------
And a side note about the game itself:
I will be doing each Day/Chapter as a separate expansion pack to make it easier to manage. The game will be produced as follows:
>Day 1 - Resonance
>Day 2 - Fusion
>Day 3 - Selection
>Day 4 - Conception
>Day 5 - Evolution
>Day 6 - Liberation
>PE1/2 Bridge
>Akropolis Tower - From FBI office through No. 9 battle
>Dryfield 1 - From FBI Office to Burner battle
>Mine/Shelter 1 - From Mine Entrance to Sewer
>Dryfield 2 - From Well to Sewer
>Shelter 2 - From Laboratory to Pod Gantry
>NeoArk - From Lift to Underground Parking
>Shelter 3 - From Army Base to End
>Possible 3rd Birthday bridge (Still a little fuzzy on the details)

If this seems interesting, then I've done my job ;D

That's an ambitious project.
I'd love to know more about the battle system. If you plan on making an A-RPG, I advise you program and complete it first before mapping anything more.
@Rekitsu
-Cool, finally someone else who LIKES it :3

@Avee
-Im working on finding a suitable battle system that is compatible with the other scripts I have, so i'll finish looking once the Day 1 maps are finished (which they almost are).
You should split this up into two separate installments.
Well, I played a little into the demo. I'm guessing your planning on redoing the battle system? If so I'd advise you to talk to the maker of the game Cast Aside, or something. You can find it on this site, and it's battle system would work decently for a game like this. If you plan to just leave battles as they are I'd say amp up the difficulty a bit, battles were way easy.

Overall you did a pretty good job though, kinda making me wanna go pop it in and play through it.
I actually bought this game just recently out of my love for it. If this has the customization system for weapons and armor that the original had, then you have me as a sub and I'll play the demo.
parasite eve, oh how I love thee; not a big fan of 2 but did love the 3rd birthday. Good luck on remaking it.
@Rekitsu
-Ive already changed the battle system, so it will be in the later updates, and thx :)

@Storyteller
-Ive got all 3 games and Im still trying to get the true end on 2. lemme see what i can do about the customization stuff, although I cant promise anything.

@Rolandknight
-3rd birthday was awesome, on 2nd playthrough, and thx for the luck :)

i am glad vx rtp is so ubiquitous, it lends itself so well to any setting or genre that there is virtually no need to ever use anything else -- as evidenced here, nailing the look and feel of the parasite eve series. it's no small wonder vx users are mentally and physically incapable of utilizing anything but these rtp tiles. why ever should they look to other solutions when universal perfection has already been achieved? 10/10 a revelation in game making
yes...here is a question for you to chew on, fellow PE fan (and anyone else who thinks this project is a good idea):

Why would someone want to play Parasite Eve made with default VX graphics and inferior gameplay when they could instead play the original?
Well, it could be that they don't:
A. Own the game
B. Have the money to buy the game
C. Want to get it through illegal means (iso's, emulators, etc.)

I have a question regarding the purpose of all of this: What do you hope to accomplish by ripping off PE 1 and 2? This is a serious question.

Secondly, I wish to pose a more general question to anyone who does these "remakes". Where has the originality gone?!

The same could be said about Square Enix... didn't they release like, 4-5 versions of the previous FFs over the last 10 years?
The idea of fanmaking PE is itself original: Nobody ever thought of doing it before.
There are great fanfics and fangames out there, such as Castlevania Fighter, Valkyrie Fight and FFVII Origin.
And anyway, we make games so people can find them enjoyable. If the gameplay's good and the story interesting, most gamers won't give much importance to originality.

I would tell you to take an aspirin, but I think even the aspirin would have a headache if it read that line.

Before someone accuses me of changing the question, let me just say that "remake" was put in quotes for a good reason, as it was pointing to people who needlessly make "demakes" such as this game. Also, it pays to note that there is nothing wrong with a company porting a classic to a newer system, since its their game.

I hope by "fanmaking" you mean totally ripping off.

There are great fanfics and fangames out there, such as Castlevania Fighter, Valkyrie Fight and FFVII Origin.

I never said anything about fanfics or fangames; I'm only refering to "demakes" such as this.

That's a pretty harsh insult if you really think about what you just said.

RPG Making is also a hobby to most people, so if they feel they wanna make a remake of a game they enjoy in VX, then by all means, they should do just that.
It's not always about originality in the sense that every idea/concept is unique, which is sorta hard these days.

The default vx rtp really put me off of this when I saw it, really doesn't flow with what I think about when thinking "Parasite Eve"
Sorry. :\

And not saying "you have to make custom graphics or the game is crap" just that this doesn't go to well with the setting/atmosphere of the original series.
It's pretty faithful to the games. My biggest problem is the damage and likelyhood of getting poisoned in the first boss battle.
Another demo is gonna be released probably by tomorrow. Just gotta tune up some of the enemies and maps and such.

...Are you fucking kidding me? Wanna remake some game 'cus you can't be original, fine, go for it. Do NOT, however, think anyone's going to play your ridiculous piece of shit just because they can't play the real version of whatever game you're bastardizing with stupid-ass, ugly-as-hell VX.
