OK< I think I've resolved the main problem with the menu; there is still an issue with the event causing you to go upwards towards the first blue switch, this I "think" has been resolved, I'm not sure, please let me know!

Hearing a voice begging for help, you awaken; you play as Yumi, a woman mysteriously transported from home to a dark, cold, destroyed and seemingly abandoned village: Variable Village.
Yumi realizes she has no memory of how she came to be in this dark village, as well she realizes the her mother and only child and son, Yang, is no longer by her side - causing her to fear for his very life.
This is where you step in; you must help Yumi find her missing mother and son and escape from this horror she has awaken to.

Rainbow, I think the issue is that you need the RTP. It's a free download, you just need to sign an EULA for it.
kitten2021, I found a bug. Searching the bell in the square caused some dialog. After the dialog finished, the main character's portrait stayed on the screen. The only way to get rid of it was to trigger another dialog event.

I cannot play the game!! :( as I'm about to make it start there's that hORRIBLE sound when an application doesn't work! :( I installed rtp and have other games that run without problems! I'm SO sad, I wanted so much to play Your game!! :'(
