The Relic. Handed down, generation after generation by the royal family, nobody knows what it's purpose is. It is said, that during the Meteor Shower that occurs once every 5 years, if the girl with the pure voice sings the Song of the Seas, then the Relic will reveal its purpose. This girl, is Annette. King Gaston III, requests that she be brought across the ocean, to his kingdom in the New World, for the celebration of the Meteor Shower. She brings her boyfriend Scatto, a drunken thief, his best friend, Antoine Vivinci, and Scattos pet bird, Peeko. However, while out at sea, their boat gets attacked attacked by a fierce storm, and the ship begins to go down. Anette, Antoine, Scatto, and many other people make it to the life boats, but when they go to launch it, one of the ropes gets snagged in the mechanism. Scatto quickly climbs up the rope, runs into the ship, gets a knife and just as he gets back to the rope, the ship starts sinking! There is no time to climb aboard the life boat, he cuts the rope there and then. the boat is released - Scatto struggles to get to the boat but the waves are too rough he does not make it. He wakes up, days later, shipwrecked on an island.
5 Years later, after nobody returns, Scatto finally escapes. Being alone at Sea for awhile has turned Scatto a little insane, as he can now hear Peeko and other animals speak. Once arriving to the New World, where his boat was originally heading 5 years ago, He learns that Annette and Antoine had died at sea. Now, all he wants is to be left alone with his little pet bird, Peeko. But he eventually meets a cheerful, mature for her age, young girl named Arianna, who is the leader of a group of Rebels called Subject to Change (they can't decide on a name), looking to find the Relic, as in the 5 years he had been gone, it was stolen. Scatto decides to come with them, secretly to get the Relic for himself. But what awaits him on his Journey, will be far more than what he could imagine. The Questions from his Past will finally be answered. What actually happened to Annette and Antoine, and What secrets do the Relic hold?

VOICE ACTING - The Game will feature voice acting! There will be a separate download without it, for those who despise voice acting in games.
Earthbound Style Battles - A Battle System similar to the Mother series, featuring customizable weapons, skills, and armors.
Interesting Dialogue - Tired of seeing boring dialogue? Well, have no fear. From Peeko's constant sarcastic remarks to Lorenzo's untimely wisdom, Relic features hundreds of intractable events, all with well written dialogue.
Puzzles and Brain-teasers - Similar to that of Professor Layton

Hm, I like the facesets there, just wish the sprites weren't the usual VX chibi. I'll be back when the download's approved.

Actually my friend, while they may look like the standard VX chibis, those are custom made sprites using a custom made template by one of my friends over at a different site :)
And those facesets are all 100% original as well :)

I should clarify, VX-chibi style. I'm just not a fan of the XP/VX type graphics in general, just preference.
The character portraits are also fantastic, by the way.

Characters is just amazing! They reminds me of some Gainax-made anime.
I'm starting to believe, that real masterpiece is on the way...

Theres a bug. I got through the cave and onto the map where the girl is. It just keeps replaying the scene when the bird finds her there. Then it puts me back at the house.
I meant to ask this before, but what, exactly, is the point of the name entry at the beginning of the game? Then again, as this game references Earthbound in many ways, perhaps, very late-game...
*Edit: What the...? Maybe I'm missing something, but I can't attack? I mean, I can choose the attack option, but selecting an enemy to attack does... nothing. At least as far as I can tell. I also have this issue with "Steal" as well. If it makes any difference, I downloaded "Relic Ch. 1 (Non-VA) v.1.3", which I think is the "default" download.

Okay, so I was, literally, missing something. Yeah, by all means, include a "readme.txt" or some kind of reference (in-game tutorials can work too) for basic stuff like this! Saying that, I'm not sure what the reasoning is behind being required to press the right arrow at that moment. It's probably part of the script's commentary, but the "feature" certainly slows the flow of combat down a tad.
*Edit: The game asks me for a combat tutorial after the first round is over. Meaning after I "needed" one. I hate to say it like this, but this is kinda fail on your part.
