Announcement

Brand new World – VX ace Eternal Demo Release.

Finally after taking way too long to get something done we have a new DEMO!

I know I can’t believe it either. I’m so happy!

Incidentally you may or may not have noticed an update to the main summery page, and a new credits page detailing the resources used in its creation.

Also, as I mentioned before, I'll be keeping the old 2K3 demo around for a while just in case anyone wants to compare the two games. then I'll probably get rid of it in like a week or so. We'll see.

Well nothing left to say other than I hope you enjoy it.

Announcement

New and improved! – New Demo launch - Finally did something!

Well it was a little later than I hoped, but at last the new Demo is ready! (More or less).

I’ll be uploading that with the next few days since I’ve got other stuff pending over the weekend. In the meantime I’ll be fixing up the current game page, putting in some new screenshots, updating things ectra.

I’ll be deleting the old download as well, but was thinking of leaving it up for a bit so that people can compare and contrast the two versions of the game, so I can gather some feedback on which they like better.

Speaking of feedback. If anyone wants to help out and become a play-tester before I officially release the thing, so I can fix any problems, I would appreciate it.

Otherwise, we’re good to go. I’ll see you in a few days with a new demo.

Master-of-Mayhem.

Progress Report

It Is coming.

Remember a while ago in January when I detailed my plans for the game and how I hoped to have something realised by about March? I meant it with all earnest, but there might have been some doubt in my ability to do so, not surprising since I have a bad habit of promising that will happen and then not delivering.

Well jokes on them because I actually did manage to accomplish what I set out to do! Er… Sort of.

I’ve managed to remake the game up to the ending of the original 2K3 demo which I can uploaded. The thing is though I was hoping for the new demo to encompass more than the last one. Be longer have more locations, an actual dungeon with a boss battle stuff like that. I’ve still got a lot of work to do before I reach that point including several large maps to redo, and some new dialog I’m having difficulty with. Needless to say it’s going to take some time.

Still though I’d rather release something rather than nothing, so here’s the now plan: I’ll leave it for another two weeks and see what I can do. If I haven’t gotten it complete by say 17th -18th I’ll realise what I have up to at least the ending of the original demo. Maybe with some stuff past that we’ll see.

Either way I’ll see you in two weeks. Until then.

Happy new year from Eternal: Our now and future plans.

Hello everyone. Master of Mayhem here.

As you may know, I’ve been remaking this game from the ground up with the VX.ACE engine. And with the New Year here I’m sure there’s about there’s a handful of you who would like to know what is going on with this project.

Well I’m going tell you, in order, what my immediate plan is, what new features I’ve added to the game, what I’ll be adding to this game page, and what you can do to make this project better.

The Plan:
The plan is to have a demo available for the new game around the end of February/start of March. After that I’ll put this project on hiatus for a while so I can work on some other stuff.

New features that have been added:
We now have a crafting system ready to go thanks to the Item Crafting Script by coelacanth. Which you can find here http://rpgmaker.net/scripts/319/. Thank you for that coelacanth.

We also the option of changing the BGM now too. Which can be done at various jukeboxes and radios.

What you can expect from this page in the future:

New, pictures on the main page to replace the old 2K3 ones. A short character diagnostic on the main page detailing the characters strengths and weaknesses, equipment Etc. And finally a massive credits page detailing all the Sprites, Music and stuff that I have stolen from… pretty much everywhere.

What Eternal could use form you:
Not much really. Although I could uses a better Side Battle script. I’m currently using the Yanfly - Visual Battlers script, but if anyone knows something that works better I would like to know.

And there you have it. Hopefully I’ll see you all in a month or to with a brand new game in to. Until then.

Miscellaneous

350th download!

Hay I just noticed. The Demo for Eternal just hit 350 downloads!

\(o_o)/

Yay!

Map Comparisons

As those who have read the previous blog would know I've decided to convert this game over to Ace. I've started work on remaking the maps on the new engine, in a process I'm finding surprising easier than I thought it would be.

For reference I've provided a comparison between the 2K3 and the VX Ace versions of the first town, Ebon Village.

As you can see there pretty much identical, aside from some superficial differences. Mapping should not be a problem here.

Attention! Big changes are coming! – We’re upgrading engines.

So I’m guessing a few of you are wondering what happened to this little project?
Well the good news is that this is still going. I’ve been working on little bit’s here and there. And it’s during that time that, after much internal debate, to bite the bullet and upgrade the game to be made using RPG Maker ACE.

It’s not that I think 2K3 is bad. On the contrerey, it still has some functions I wish the other makes would use. But for what I’m planning to do, especially for combat, I’m going to want the enhanced maker. Plus Ace, has options and features that makes how I tend to work much easier.

What does this mean?

Well it means I’ll be remaking the entire game (I.E all the work I’ve done so far) into Ace. It will be (hopefully) be the same game in look and feel as before, but with more dynamic combat and little extras.

This of course unfortunately means that I’ll have to re-do all the maps, animations, dialog, everything really into the new engine. So yeah it’s going to be a time sink, but considering everything I think it’s worth it as the Pro out way the cons.

I’ll also start upgrades to the current game page over the next few days, as I don’t think the upgrade warrants an entire new game page. I’ll be images that may no longer apply to the project until new images can take their place. And I’ll also have to remove the current demo since it’s no longer applicable. I’ll also add the beginning of the undoubtedly massive credits page for all the resources and scripts I’ll be using.

I also might take up this opportunity to start a monthly or bi-monthly progress report, but don’t hold me to that unless people really start asking for it.

And that’s it for now. Expect changes to the page over the next couple of days, and I’ll let you guys now hoe the transition is going in a week or so. So stay tuned and keep it real.

MasterofMayhem.

Progress Report

Wait we’re still doing this?

Yes, yes I know I promised a while ago that I’d have something by now, but between life, gaming and procrastination I’ve achieved a lot less than I’d hoped for by now... A lot less.

Now I am still working on this so for the five of you who give a damn you don’t worry about that. But I know longer have no idea how long it’s going to take before the next update. So... yeah.

There has been some progress made however. I did finally manage to get myself a new jumping sprite. Behold:

This was originally made by KillerWolf with some light editing done by me. So thanks for that KW.

I hate bugs... Also a Demo update.

With Zeuzio’s review out I’ve gone and decided to make some light changes to the demo (mostly item drop rates) and some spelling to help enhance the gameplay somewhat.

I have also been made aware of quite a few bugs that cause the game to crash, I fully apologise for that. Believe me if I knew that there were any bugs still like that in the demo I would not have realised it in the first place.

Fortunately with the updated demo all those bugs are gone (hopefully). Better yet the game no longer needs RPG 2K3 installed in order to play.

Of course if there are any more problems with crashes please let me know as soon as possible so I can fix it.

Thank you and remember have fun.

Finally, Progress!

Wow it’s been a while, but finally after months of sitting on my ass I’ve actually done something!

First off, you’ll notice, that I have a Demo up! It’s shorter than I was originally planning, but it will certainly showcase the game well, until the next big update. And everyone give a round of thanks’ to tpasmall who edited the script for first part of the demo.

You’ll probably also notice that I’ve changed the battle screen menu to a more detailed based one, but I don’t know whether I’ll keep it like this or revert back to the face based screen. I guess I’ll wait to see if there’s any fan reaction about it.

I’ve also added some images and fixed up the main page a little. I wanted to do this all in one block to save bumping the page every other day.

That’s it for now until the next big update, unless I’ve forgotten something. So please enjoy the game, and remember have fun.
