In the wake of great tragedy, people always ask why.
Why did I fall sick?
Why couldn't she love me?
Why did they have to die?
I can tell you.
You were hurt so that you could have the power to hurt others in turn.

What is this?

Con is branching narrative.

It features eleven different endings, custom art, and a smooth jazz soundtrack.

In it, you play as a vigilante trying to avenge his best friend's death.

At the game's conclusion, you will kill one of the eight characters closest to you.

They have it coming.

Sorry for being gone for so Long D:

As of now I'm leaving in housing until I can find a house. I'm now living in California which is freakin hot which should be expected.

On the topic of Coab I've been working on making my artwork better before I continue on this project I do want to finish this and feel bad for taking a break because now I have to re-learn renpy. When I finally get a house this project will pick up where we left off luckily almost all of the script is done now its up to me to draw and code EVERYTHING.

I just hope I can finish this before I have to go back to college.

So, I read this, and now I'm wondering if we should revise the stuff we have at the top of the page.

Is there any way I could play around with the page layout a little bit? I wanna see if I can make things a little more appealing.

edit: hoooray! Page 2! Finally, page 2 of posts! And it's mostly me!
I'm okay with it. I'm giving my wrist a few days rest and I'm making D&D characters for a campaign.
Okay. Is there anything you have to do on your end to make that possible? Setting permissions to edit the page, or something like that?

Also, good luck with that D&D stuff. Is it a thing that you're running, or just playing in?
When you make the changes just email them to me and I'll post it up on this page since it dosen't look like a third-party can edit it.

It would be nice if someone knew how to edit the CSS.

I'm just playing.
Okay. I'll do some brainstorming, and then send it your way. Thanks.
New work ethic.

1) Write.

2) Listen to Howl

3) Go back to 1
Every time I think I have only two scenes left to go, another scene squeezels its way into the narrative.

Current page count: 98 pages.

And this is for act 1.

I sincerely hope you guys like words.
Good god man you are insane!
Hopefully, feedback on the demo will let me know if anything needs to be cut, which could maybe help slim down the story.

I expect this is probably going to be the longest act, since its primary function is to introduce both the characters and the world, and we have a really large stable of characters. 2, I think, is going to focus in on the romantic sub-plots. 3 will wrap up a couple of side stories. And 4 is essentially the endings.

I should be done with Act 1 soon (I know I've been saying that since forever, but I know exactly what to write to reach the end now,) and then I can help with any final polishing/editing to get it ready for the demo.
Okay.

A thought:

We don't have to include this in the demo release, but I've still been thinking about ways to address the low-interactivity of visual novels.

I like the character epilogues at the end of Act 4, and I'm wondering if they might be something worth adding to the end of every chapter. Originally, I was going to add in some of those pieces you had written as interludes, but then I figured what the hell. Why not make them something the player could earn?

Mechanically, my idea would work something like this:

At the end of every act, check relationship points. If you have enough with a character, you get a special scene involving them.

Alternately, a more complicated way to do this would be to check relationship points at the end of each chapter and 'level up' the relationship if there's enough. Every time the relationship levels, you get a scene involving that character's past. This way, you might not get all the scenes with a character in a playthrough, but you won't get them out of order, either.

Doing either of these could involve lots of programming/scene writing, so I'm not 100% saying we should do this. I just wanted to sound you out on the idea.
My knowledge of Renpy is very limited but I can do it but it would take time so, i'll need tutorials on how stacking choices work. Just get me the script and I'll try to figure it out from there.
Okay. I'm probably not going to work it in for the demo, but when/if you think you have an idea how to do it, let me know.

I think I want to do all interludes and epilogues last, after finishing the other acts, to make sure that I don't mess up any foreshadowing or make an important plot detail accessible only through an optional extra.
How about we keep the demo simple and we'll add the other stuff for the final version.
Yeah. That sounds like the best idea.
Fffffff writer's block fffffffffff-

Act 1 is going to be a hard-fought victory.
Rough draft done, but still very rough. I am going to do a smackton of editing somewhere inside the next 24 hours, and I will have this to you ASAP.
Act 1 script written and proofed. It clocks in at 108 pages (although there's some mechanical filler in the document.) I don't think I've ever written something that long before.
