Valor Emblem is a Fire Emblem inspired Tactical RPG created in Sim RPGMaker95. Production began in late 2009 and the goal is a mid-2012 completion.

Story
In the army of the Dual Empire, disobeying a commanding officer in the field of battle is a crime punishable by death.
Jareth Coustal's military career had come to an end before it even began when he opposed his superior's orders during a raid. Locked up and awaiting sentence, his best friend sacrificed his own career to break him out of prison. With no plan, no destination, no allies, and very little money, they fled the empire as fugitives and prayed for good fortune to see them away.
But through a chance encounter, goals and destinies are altered, and Jareth is positioned to become a pivotal figure in the history of the world.

Promote, you fool!

^Is what I should be saying to myself.
For all the active promotion I do for this project, you'd think it was just waiting for someone to say "vaporware".
Progress has been slowed by demands being made of me at work. Write a bunch of government exams, map out a bunch of work-related procedures, and don't forget to actually do your job too. The exam part is what pisses me off, as it bleeds over into my non-work time. Even though I hold a full-time job, I still have my share of homework like a uni student. Bogus.
So progress is slow and steady. What else is new? Maybe in the future, I'll throw up a screenshot or two every so often to give people the impression that I'm still alive and working. Not like it wouldn't be true.
I'm also still waiting on my artist friend to finish a title, a logo, or anything I can use as a main thumb. She's partially busy trying to get an art job that just opened up in her area, so I'm getting the shaft :D Damn it.

Holy damn, but I will play the bajeezus out of this when it's finished. This looks utterly magnificent.
I really want to play this after seeing the "prebattle info".
Yeah!!!
I could never get srpg maker to work...
Look forward to this game!
2 posts and I'm in the Buzzing category. Sure doesn't take much :o
So, uh, how's progress on this going?

I really wants me some fan-made fire emblem.
Yep, still going.
Not to worry. There's only one way this will become vaporware, and I don't want to mention it in case I jinx myself.

I might've been optimistic with a mid-2012 goal though. A lot of people are getting on my case to do some time-wasting extracurricular activities, and I don't have enough clout to tell them to shove it.
any demo or full release? i loved FE and will love urs :D
Dyhalto, if you're still following this, a friend and I have been thinking about doing a very story-centric FE hack. The problem is: we're both writers. Neither of us can rom hack.

Would you recommend SimRPGMaker95 as a good alternative?
hmmm... yes and no. It's very simple to make a game in Sim RPGMaker95. If you just want to get it out there, this maker is a good vehicle.
But if it's some kind of magnum opus you have in mind, the limitations will probably irk you. You'll be better off using a more modern engine and recruiting someone who can program a tactical system (or teaching yourselves to).

It depends on how much effort you're willing to put into it.
I think this is probably going to be a game-as-a-vehicle-for-the-plot kinda situation. Anything that lets us worry about less of the raw programming and more of the script is a godsend.

We do have someone who can program on our side, but he hasn't worked with FE hacks before. Any pre-existing resources we can find will make his job that much easier.

(By the way, thank you so much for answering my questions. This is the first time I've ever worked on a full-fledged game from the design end, and it is a little daunting.)
