Due to the development of the next generation open-world RPG I have been working on, any expansions for Infinity 2 have been cancelled. This includes Tales of the Rings. The new game, currently titled Infinity 3, is a completely new game, being developed on a much more up-to-date engine. RPG Maker VX Ace.
Any future expansion packs would be released for this new game, rather than the older Infinity 2. I hope you do enjoy playing Infinity 1 & 2, while following development of the next game in the series. It should be one fantastic game.
Infinity 2: Tales of the Rings Expansion Pack Release Date: 2012
I've considered doing expansions for the first game in the Infinity series. But the first game featured one main map, and adding elements to that map would kind of break the format. With Infinity 2, I made things alot more advanced coding wise, and I made the world larger in terms of maps. Adding new areas to Infinity 2 fits with the map setup.
So instead of working on a new Infinity, Infinity 2 will be the main game I will be releasing expansion packs for. Improving, and making Infinity 2 even better will be a fun project, since the base game is already there.
The first expansion pack will be called Infinity 2: Tales of the Rings.
Tales of the Rings will introduce magic, and new storyline elements into the game. Plus TotR will introduce the first-round of general updates. Possibly elements from the first Infinity, including dating, pick-pocketing, etc.
Tales of the Rings will also introduce new characters, updated NPC interation, and more.
Overall, I'm excited to work on expanding on Infinity 2, and making it even better. Plus working on an expansion pack with an already completed game, allows for more creative freedom, without worrying about the technical bits.
Until Infinity 2: Tales of the Rings is released, the original complete game will still be updated. As of writing, the latest version is 1.1. To install these new expansion packs, all the player needs to do is overwrite their old files. Meanwhile their original saves, will work with the new expansion packs.
I'm always taking suggestions for new content, so suggest away.
I'm happy to announce that Infinity 2 will be featuring original music from musician Halindir (Vaniardur). His music is simply stunning, and fits perfectly into the dark, yet light tones of Infinity 2. His music is a welcome change from the default RTP music of the first Infinity.
Here's the current track listing, with the maps the music is played on.
Title - Halindir - A Prelude To Glory - "An Interlude To Glory"
Start - Halindir - And All The Faggots Danced - "Chrombæ"
Town - Halindir - Closure - "Ambooboob"
City - Vaniardur - XIX - "Atmosphericshit"
Shop/Pub - Halindir - The Halfling Bard - "Ambientos"
Ship - Halindir - Event I - "Beastbrosymphony"
Secret Location - Halindir - Elenwë - "Elenwë"
Farm - Halindir - Event V - "Event V"
Mountain - Halindir - Event X - "Event X"
Entrance to Dungeon - Halindir - I - "Imindiode"
Battle - Halindir - Event IX - "War"
Secret Water Location - Halindir - Event IV - "wewqeqrr"
Strip Club - Vaniardur - XVII - "Vaniardur"

I'm happy to say that most of the mapping is finally complete. Now the programming is in full-swing.
I started working on the Assassin Missions, which have become the most complicated piece of development. The original Infinity is looking even more unpolished, after programming the new assassin missions. In the original Infinity, you could replay a mission (Like robbing the bank) over and over again.
But in Infinity 2, mostly every action has a switch. At the start of the game, about 10 switches are activated so far. That's with only one assassin mission added so far. Each assassin mission is requiring about 5 switches, with the conditional statements being an amazing tool. I wanted to make sure NPC's have dialogue before the mission, during the mission, and once the mission is complete. This of course, requires some switches. Overall it's coming along great.
Now with one mission working, I can just copy and edit for the other missions.
I've also been considering music. Once most of the game is finished, I will likely be adding music into the game. Not the default RPG Maker music. It will be refreshing to hear some fresh music, rather than the default beeps and boops.
I've resumed production on I2. So far most of the mapping is complete, and now I'm focusing on actual dialogue, features, etc.
The Assassins Guild has been added, and will function using a different kind of mission selection. You visit the "hideout" (an apartment) and choose from the members of the guild. Each one has a different mission.
Meanwhile some big news.. for the first time, I'm adding nudity into my game. Yes.. 2D nudity. In the form of naked sprites for strippers, etc. Mind you "naked" is not anything severe. Just something to show how dark this section of the game is. From saving or aiding in a rape attack, to looking at strippers in the strip club.
