"The end of the With of Lorven" is a small visual novel about well.. the end of a certain witch in a certain country after she was caught by the church.

As I could not run it due to an error I used the video version - as there are no choices or movements to make, this does not pose a problem.

The game starts where others would end, a defeated character who will be burned the next day.
If you played other games made by the developer, you would notice that the characters and the world immersion is splendid. This game builds on exactly this strength - the characters and the underlying events presented are interesting, meaningful and realistic.
Many previous events and characters' objectives are mentioned, most of which you can piece together yourself.
Yet while you can piece it together well, there are still lingering questions about the motives of the witch and what she actually did with the tremendous powers she has.
The only complaint I have is that the main character is being reduced to what the game focuses on.
And perhaps that the story stays on a superficial level, it will not be burned into your memories. But themes need not always be present.

The relationship, that is. Although she seems to be a very strong character herself (albeit someone who gave up on the world or closed herself off)
But even with that being the case, she seemed to have a huge impact on the world - both positive (curing the plague) and negative (posing danger, going on a rampage, apparantly). I know it is mentioned in passing, but I find it a little bit disappointing.

The music suits this style - it is sad, melodic and a little bit melancholic. There are a few tracks, and they will not get old during the short play.
While there are not many maps present, the ones chosen and also their perspectives (since you basically just watch) are very well used.

There are no choices or any other way of interacting with this visual novel. As such, there really is not too much that can be said without spoilering parts of the game.

All in all does this create a very emotional, immersive experience. The game tells but a little story instead of a big epos - and that it does splendidly.

Heee, thanks for the review! <3
Honestly the cutscene being so short there is not much I can cram in there.
Making a game off Dorva has always been a daydream (more when I released this back in the day) but it seems a far away thing now, considering everyhting ELSE we're planning to do XD
