FFaF - Hiatus for now

Unfortunately, this game has just become boring to create. I'm not surprised because it doesn't really attempt to be different. It was mostly just for me to see how my scripting abilities were (even though most of the scripts were plug n' play with config. options).

I'll resume this project later.

FFaF - Special items

In Fame and Fortune the player can find a variety of very cool special items.
There's the Magic Mirror, Pet Whistle, Teleportation Disc, and Shop Menu Scroll.

The Magic Mirror can be found only once and cannot be consumed.
It will allow the player to change his or her gender between male and female.
This item can be sold, but once sold it cannot be found again at all.

The Pet Whistle can be found only once and cannot be consumed (even though there's a statue that allows you to do this only once).
It will allow the player to change his or her pet between dog and cat.
This item can be sold, but once sold, the player will need to transport back to the statue in order to change between pets again.

The Teleportation Disc can be built using two parts of the disc.
It will allow the player to teleport back to the beginning of the game (the chests will randomize loot) and play back through the game without battles. This is a good way to find more potions or other items before a boss fight.

The Shop Menu Scroll can be found, and more the once.
The Shop Menu Scroll is the only way the player can sell or buy items, weapons, and armor. Be sure to save them!
These scrolls can be sold but it's really not worth it because they're rare to come by.

That's pretty much it on special items in FFaF.
Until next blog, take care.

FFaF - Improving and upgrading weapons

So in For Fame and Fortune, the more you use a weapon the more it improves.
For example, if you stick with a sword for more than two levels, it's attack will increase by 1. If you stick with the same sword for two more levels, it's attack will increase by 2.

You can also find an enchanter deep within the ruins that will upgrade your weapons in return for a quest item.
Enchanter quest items can be found on the same map, but will probably be guarded by a trap or a tough enemy. Some Enchanters may be willing to give you an enchantment for free, if you have a certain item like Enchantment Book.

That's pretty much it for improving and upgrading weapons.
Just going to toss this in here, but a demo is in the works and is almost ready (will be released Friday). So keep an eye out for that.

Until next blog, take care.

FFaF - You and your pet

The player is a generally well-balanced class.
Meaning that the player gains both skills that a tank (shield bash to stun, pummel), a DPS (quick strikes, deadly blow), and a healing (rejuvenate, cure) class would get.

So in For Fame and Fortune, the player can either choose a dog or cat to become their trusted companion.
**The dog is more of a tank type companion that has a high defense but low attack.
**The cat is more of a scrapper type companion that has a high attack but low defense.

Whatever companion you choose, he will automatically attack the target with the highest health and will guard (which reduces the damage he takes) when his health becomes lower than 25%.
You can also find a pet whistle to change, mid-game, between a dog and cat.

I don't really have a big concern with the pets. I just hope they're useful (they sure have been in testing battles)!
Until the next blog, take care.

FFaF - It's been accepted

So For Fame and Fortune has been accepted. That's exciting!

This is my first game I hope to complete.
I bought RMVX a while ago, forgot about it for a few months, and came back to try and create a fun dungeon crawler with RPG elements.

Right now I have around 10 or 11 levels of the Rattappal Ruins (just a place holder name but I kind of like it).
I'll be focusing a lot on gameplay so of course there's already a new combat system, a new main menu, and a pet that follows you around (you can choose your pet and he/she will automatically help you in combat).

My only issue right now is with the Fog of War.
I limited player visibility to 1 tile but if the players think that it should be increased to 2 or 3 tiles, I'll see what I can do.

That's about it I think.
I'll be posting more blogs, videos, and screenshots as production for this game continues.
