To better understand the story(at least some of it), I suggest you first play Coldcrest Archipelago : http://rpgmaker.net/games/3667/

They came with little warning, as they dragged themselves from Hell to wreak havoc on our poor city...

Once a a bastion of the sentient power in Predia, Bleak Point's fall was an inevitable event during the Second Rising of Ushangmor(Also known as the Doomlord).
While merely a barricaded ruin in the events of Coldcrest Archipelago, this game portrays 1-2 weeks before the destruction, presenting the beauty of the biggest city, and the ultimate fate that soon faced it. This game tells the story of Draon, a ordinary citizen who was part-time adventurer, living in the city. As luck strikes, he sleeps over the invasion of Hell itself, waking to see only a smoking ruin of the city he once called home. The story-line continues as he tries to find survivors, find food and water, find new shelters, and find a way to survive in the new Hell he now has to endure daily. During this tragic and blood-stained story, Draon will encounter moments he will envy the dead, he will have to test his will to live, his ability to stare into Death's alluring eyes, and to stand united at the face of despair, and suffering.

Overview:
Take the role of Draon, a survivor of the devastating attack in this multi-genre game. Try to survive as you scavenge, fight, explore and take back your city, street by street if needed.

Features:
-The possibility of choosing your powers, depending on your morality. This allows you to have your own view of Draon, and what you want him to be. From brutal savage to diplomatic suede, from a romantic to a heartless bastard, you are what you choose to be.
-Lots of mini-quests to unlock additional equipment and spells, next to a long main quest.
-A mixture of old and new approaches in RPG's.
-Original music
-A multitude of genres went into this game, particularly survival horror, traditional RPG's, new RPG's, a bit of RTS (management of your "base") and plenty more...
-Loads of custom made sprites, especially for the occasion.

I would also like to use this opportunity to thank my friends Shiningriver(who made the title screen), Simon Hertler(who made the original soundtrack), Avee, who always wanted to test my games, and last but not least, Essenceblade(who put up with my crazy ideas for almost half a year).
Thanks a lot, my friends!

The game is out ! (Read before downloading)

Hello people. I don't know what kind of image you have got of me in the last few days, but I wager it's not good. My game was taken down several times as the result of a "virus threat", which in fact did not even exist.

Anyway, I have taken extra precaution this time :
1. Installed a fresh copy of WinRAR(last one destroyed) - although the uploaded version is not compressed by WinRAR - the ones I sent to my friends resulted in 0 viruses. (I also sent the Non-WinRAR version, which was also clean.)
2. Created a new game in VX, overwrote the the files from the "virus" version to the new one. Sality can only affect .exe files - so this will eliminate ALL viruses.
3. Checked new version with NOD32, BitDefender, AVG, MalwareBytes. All clean.
4. Ran AVG Sality Killer for the fifth time. No viruses.
5. Sent file to Avee, who checked it with Kaspersky Pro - NO VIRUSES.
(Thanks, man!)

This should prove that my game is safe, I think. This can only mean that your anti-virus doesn't work properly, or is a bad version. Please know that free versions of antiviruses tend to be bad, as you have 0 support from the developers.
For instance, I once had a free version of Avast! who saw all sorts of things as viruses - ranging from games to WINDOWS folders. In one case, it saw itself as a virus. Not that I say this is a bad anti-virus, I just had a bad experience with it.

Thank you for your patience and faith.

I'd like to test the game as I've played the 1st one and enjoyed it ! Dennis
Milos is away for the summer so I'll reply to comments.
The testing phase is already complete actually. You can fully enjoy the latest version 1.2!
But feel free to report any bug and give feedback on the game. Milos will definitely appreciate some feedback ;)
For some unknown reasons, I am unable to download the game.
@shiningriver: Well, I just tried to download it and my antivirus prevented me to do so :S
If the downloadable exe is infected I'm afraid I can't do anything about it. Only Milos has v1.2 and I already deleted the beta version he sent me a few days ago.
From the readme:

"...They came... red-eyed servants of their falled god"

You want 'fallen.'

Otherwise, the readme is well written.
I'm enjoying this a lot, but here's a few minor quibbles:

-you can enter the inn by walking into its door from the right. Don't know if this was intentional, but I've accidentally entered it once or twice that way.

-When you get an 'almost' on the slider crit, it says you still did damage, but never how much. I've been trying to mentally calculate it based on enemy hp and my own damage output, and I have the sneaking suspicion that it's not doing any damage at all.

-The string of fights that triggers when you step out of the inn during the invasion is obscenely long. Maybe some dialog to space things out? Alternately, this may be an unintentional bug. I held the left directional button while I was exiting combat, and was able to break the endless string of fights.

-Endless strings of men of the south fights happen any time you emerge from a building into the downtown area during the invasion. I entered the blacksmith's, and as soon as I came back out, there was a queue of burly men waiting to take a swing at me. Holding a directional button did not help in this case.

-Twice now, I've gotten perfects on the quicktime event, and it's said I struck someone down without them having a chance to blink, but no damage was actually done to anyone. In both these cases, I killed my target with a melee attack, and then the QTE triggered.
Okay, it turns out that there is a set number of men of the south encounters that shows up each time, but this stream of encounters triggers every time I enter the trade quarters (either from a building or from outside) and every time I enter the poor district. I'm swimming in money and exp now, but five or so separate encounters that I can't run from every time I change screens is a little much. I'm done playtesting for now. Once this issue gets resolved, I'll give it another go. I definitely like what I've played so far, but this bug makes it a chore to try and experience any of the game.

I'm just online for a short while, I want to thank Avee for answering the questions.

I really don't know if the file is infected, but I tested it with 2 anti-viruses, and it was clean.

I hope that does not prevent further playings, but I am really unable to fix anything right now. I will do my best when I return from summer break.

Thank you all for playing and having faith in me and my game.
I gave this game a try. I would have said the same quibbles as kumada said in his second post. I would like to add to that you can get the Journal entry regarding to find where Johnnyll several times if you ask Rumours repeatedly to one of the guys in front of the Inn.

I just found a game breaking bug:

which appears when:

you enter the poor part of the town for the kidnapped girl quest.

The other thing regarding this quest is that no Journal entry is added.

@edchuy Hmmm... I really don't know how that happened... I will do my best when I return from the break...

My antivirus also blocked the download - FileInfectorA Heur malware. I flagged the download as "for testers only" for the time being until you can resolve the issue. Check it with Avast.
Okay, so I have no idea whether I downloaded this file onto my new computer, or whether the infection could've traveled with my other files when I exported them off of my laptop. A google search for "FileInfector A Heur" is popping up all kinds of scary stuff about polymorphic file infectors, and my antivirus (Avast) is finding nothing.

I would rather my brand new computer not be a hotbed of unnoticed viral activity.

Deckiller or anyone else, can you give me more information on this FileInfector A Heur?

edit: I'm going to try and go through my post logs to try and forensics when it was, exactly, that I switched from old computer to new. Virscan.org is, so far, not finding any malware hidden in major files like userinit.exe, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. If anyone has any information they can give me that'll help make sure my computer is safe (and, if it isn't, I'm going to have to delete every .exe and .scr and do a reformat,) I would be really grateful.

I sincerely apologize if my game has wrought any error upon your life, Kumada. My sister told me that there, in fact, was a virus. A malware was in my Windows folder, which was "purged", but the game folder contains no viruses. Maybe this version is indeed infected, but I will fix it when I return. Thanks to all.
If it is what it looks like it is (a virut variant), we may both be looking at reformats.

Everything is coming up clean on my comp, but from what little usable information I've been able to google, this thing adds itself into existing .exe and .scr files, and can only be detected heuristically (i.e. most virus scans won't help.)

Keep an eye on any credit card and bank accounts you might have, and good luck.

I'm 95% sure that the current download is infectious, since my laptop died not long after I brought it on board, but the question still remains as to whether it made it to my new computer. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I will be keeping the download as testers only until we're 100 percent certain it's purged.

Damn viruses :(

I understand your worries, Deckiller. Is there a way I
could "heal" my game file without having to delete it? If not, I would kill myself.

PS. The way I think about it, if the virus was in my WINDOWS folder, it could have had access to the game, but with nod 32 purging everything, the source of the infection is cut off... meaning it is relatively safe... as nod 32 has seen the game as safe. Boy, I hope it is safe. Thanks for your concern, friend.

Disclaimer: I am not a computer security professional, I'm just relating what I've been able to successfully google.

That doesn't seem to be how this virus operates, Milos. It's a polymorphic file infector. Basically, it adds itself into other files. .scrs and .exes in particular. These files can then infect other files. So, I don't think the location of the virus or the original copy of it really matter.

In as far as what it does, the stuff I've read suggests that it acts as a backdoor into your system. So, try not to internet too much with the infected computer if you can avoid it.

I don't know how rpg maker stores games that are being worked on, but unless the whole project is stored as an exe, all the work that went into your game should still be fine. It's just the .exe and any .scrs that you need to worry about.

I apologize if some of my messages are un-readable. I actually hijacked my friend's Android phone to type this, and my paws can hardly type on this thing.

Anyways, then my game should be safe, since I have only 2 .exe files - the playtest and the development exe's. I don't think I need them anyway, but I'll know more when I return. I guess it's lights out for my game until August.

What are. scrs files?
It's .scr, and I think it's mostly screensavers. Odds are, you don't have any important .scr files. If you're going to offload your files to a removable drive and do a reformat, first make sure that there's no .exe or .scr files sitting on the removable drive, and then make sure that you're not bringing any over, and your files should be safe.

Again, I am not a computer security professional, and professional advice should be used 100% in lieu of mine if you can consult with someone who knows more about dealing with FileInfector A Heur.
