Reniat returns to her home village after years away at boarding school to find that the village is nearly deserted. The mine that the village depended on heavily for boosting its economy and tourism has been overrun by monsters and no one has bothered doing anything about it. Having trained as an adventurer, she decides to see what she can do about reviving the town and making a name for herself in the world.

Homework Salesman is a life simulation game with an emphasis on dungeon exploration, completing quests, crafting new equipment and items, and befriending the people in town. The game takes inspiration from the Rune Factory and Atelier series.

Features
  • Befriend each villager by talking to them every day and giving them gifts. Higher friendship levels allow you to learn each NPC's personal story and can also gain you access to new shop items, skills, hidden goodies, and more.

  • Unique items means that each item in the game is treated as a separate object. You can rename equipment, find rare versions of them, upgrade and repair them (weapons have durability), and even enchant them. You can have several iron swords each with different enchantments on them.

  • Six unique crafts: Cooking, Smithing, Tailoring, Enchanting, Alchemy, and Construction.

  • Quests are divided into two categories: story quests that propel your adventure forward, and side quests that are procedurally generated.

  • Features a world encounter system where you can find random events in field maps or dungeons, such as traveling merchants or a bandit who'll offer to spare you for money (or you can kill him)

  • Enemy encounters and (most) treasure chests are randomly placed on maps. You typically won't find the same monster encounter in the same dungeon spot every time. Treasure chest contents are randomly drawn from a pool of items appropriate for the zone you're in. You can also find unique weapons with randomized names, stats, and enchantments.

How do you get to the 5th floor please???

Before going to the 5th floor you need to go all the way left and then up to the next screen. In the next area find your way to go all the way left and then up. You'll find a switch that you can flip that will activate the bridge to get you towards the 5th floor.

To get there from the long stairwell going down to the 4th floor you need to go down and to the left. When you see the first stairwell go up, go all the way to the left, all the way up, all the way to the right ... if I remember correctly you will eventually be able to cross the gap and go back down to the lower level, then go left towards the gap and up. In the next room you find a boss battle and complete another quest.

Let me know if it works for you. I'm basically telling you what I remember from memory after about 3 months of not playing the game, so I could be wrong about a detail or two. Good luck!

Have you beaten the boss on F2? He should have dropped a key that you can use to unlock the door that prevents you from exiting to F3.
Yea I beat the boss and got the key..... however i can't find the door to F3. I've been going around in circles on F2 trying to find it.

How do I find out what Connie wants as a welcome gift? Already heard that she likes the bunny she lost, but can't get anything for the quest. Could anybody help me? Talked to the whole town already, like twice. Thanks!

Go into the backroom in the tailor's and Reniat should find out what she likes.
Yeah, I guess I'm late in the party, but having just recently started playing Homework Salesman, let me post my current impression on it.

I actually find this game more fun than Star Stealing Prince. And I really mean very fun. It is really very unique and different from most RPG Maker RPGs and it reflects more to real life than anything else. There are so many things to do, so many interesting things to build up and progress, so much so that I'm literally occupied with so many things to do. The characters are likable, the conversations are engaging, and the quests and stories really flow well. And not to mention this is only Chapter 1. All I can say is wow.

I'll probably post more as I play the game more.
Strange thing to post but even though I havent touched the game in like half a year I still occasionally enjoy listening to some of the themes. They have a very simple yet warm feeling that really helps you wind down and relax when you get tired of normal music. It tends to make me really eager for the other chapters to come out already!

P.S.- Im ready to test whenever you guys get the chapter 2 beta up and running.
We took a long break in development but it's starting back up again! The 2nd dungeon is going to be massive.
You say massive as in content wise with a lot of bosses and puzzles or is it more along the lines of the sheer amount of mapping that you have done?

I think it would be cool to see some optional bosses (side-quest bosses too!) if the place is gonna be that big. So you can reward players who really like exploring and finding all those hidden goodies... and puzzles too; everyone loves puzzles. One thing that the first chapter lacked somewhat was dungeon content, not by itself of course, simply when compared to the town simulation half of the game.

The game is cool! I like the story and the systems.

I've found a bug when I activated the 2-star event with Zanthus, if I try to go inside the adventurer's guild after that quest has been received (I think that's the cause), it looks like the room's stuck with the event's BGM and won't let me interact with anyone. I can't even go outside or warp (because it's still in the city).

It's still a fun game though!
Hi Zaim, which version of the game do you have?

So, I've just completed chapter 1 in about 23 hours (game time is 24 days) (And minus the multiple retries for the last few bosses...). However, the above cutscene error for Zathus still exists, only that I was able to exit the room. And yes, I downloaded the latest version. It's a shame though that I couldn't get to watch Zathu's 2-star cutscene. I do hope you look into this bug when Chapter 2 comes around.

Actually, there is also another bug that I've encountered. Whenever the "Auto-Revive" skill is used on Ankaba, and Ankaba auto-revives after dying, the game crashes. I forgot what the error message is, but I'll let you know when I get the chance to replicate the error. If needed, I'll show both of these bugs in video format and upload here soon.

The third bug I've encountered is minor, but you know the bell that alerts whether there's a trap nearby? There's one particular spot when the bell doesn't chime even when I'm just a tile away from the hole. Again, I'll let you know the exact spot soon (For this, I'll probably just use screenshot.).

Overall, I've thoroughly enjoyed the game, and here's looking forward to Chapter 2 :)

EDIT: I'll just like to add that, damn the final boss battle and his stupid Meteor. That's what making me always restart my battle. Yeah, I pretty much defeated him in the end with quite a bit of luck...
