Story
Long ago, the Heroes of Light stopped the world from coming to an end after magic had ceased to be a part of every day life. Because of the lack of magic being used in the world, this made the crystals weak and unleashed the once peaceful spirits of the world, the Eon, and turned them into rampaging beasts that would stop at nothing to bring back the balance of magic by using their powers against the inhabitants of the planet. The Heroes of Light sacrificed themselves to renew the world and humanity was given another chance, this time teaching the laws of magic to everyone to be used in their every day lives.
Two hundred years have passed since the day the Void was put back into its dimension, now just a memory in textbooks.
20 year old Laine Ryell is an aspiring magic-user who wishes to attend Ramuh's Academy of Magic along with her friend Talena Eirien. These two friends know nothing of the world outside of the grand city of Runice, but dream to travel the world one day after becoming archmages themselves. Something sinister is happening around the school with Laine seemingly the epicenter of the event. They will meet new friends, foes and challenges as they learn the dark secrets of the school and an evil plot that will change their lives forever.

With that being said, welcome to the project page for FFA, a Final Fantasy fan-game that attempts to draw a unique world with the elements of the beloved FF franchise. You're probably thinking, oh no, not another fan-game! But I hope that in this attempt I can make something truly special that captures the look of an FF from the 16-bit era with the feel of the newer games. Here's a list of stuff for the game right now:
Story: 50% (twists, twists, and more twists)
Graphics: 80% (mostly borrowed although that may change)
Music: 100% (composed by myself and others)
Battle Engine: 50% (lots of work to do)
Menu System: 25% (tons of work to do)
Mini-Games: On-going! I plan to have many different mini-games to choose from including chocobo racing and more. Chocobo racing is in its beta stages and I may put a video up for it soon.
System
Every character has a job with abilities they can perform such as blue magic, Blitz-type moves (ala FFVI) and so on. I plan to have some action sequences where players can control what the characters do and have the story branch out a bit depending on that. There's also a nice little "achievement" type system, not as tacked-on form of gameplay but to promote exploration and give the player rewards of secret weapons, spells, etc. Players will be able to play around with their character's build, adding new abilities, spells and stats as they level up and obtain Rhith (much like Espers in FFVI, but with more variety).
And so...
Thank you for taking the time to check out the project and hopefully I can show that this game will be a great one that actually has something to do with the FF world unlike half the fan-games out there, while still keeping its own appeal as its own game (hell, if it got popular enough and I got C&Ded I would just have to change a few elements to make it an original game). I really was just sick of seeing the other FF fan-games out there that used VI or VII or whatever and the ones that didn't use Potions or even use right names for spells. But maybe that's just my opinion.
